The reg c8 runs upper tens, with the right driver. In this race, the Vette driver was slow to the green light. C8 z06 have gotten into the upper nines, with the right drivers. The 2025 zr1 might get into the upper 8s. The all elec Vette coming in 2027 or 2028 will prolly be a 7 second car!
Yeah that's generally not something you do with street tires. They will become less grippy when you get the heat in them that a drag radial or bias ply slick will like.

The DA (Density Altitude) in Las Vegas is always high and hurts the times of a naturally aspirated vehicle. The elevation of the strip in Las Vegas is 1980ft.

You cannot stretch the meaning of "close" enough to make it apply here. That was NOT close. Neither was a great example of the vehicles potential. But this race was absolutely not close.
