- After several months of repairs I was finally able to get my flight training and signed off to fly the Legacy.
All I can say is that I had a blast! This airplane is stable, comfortable, and FAST. I can't wait for my first cross country.
See you in the next video -- Pilot Steve
Seriously…
This Lancair model and the Glasair III both, represent the most aspirational of 2-seat sport aircraft. Add to that, this one is turbocharged… My hat is off to you Sir. Congratulations ♠️♠️♠️
Looked like significant improvement, much smoother landings with experience. Pity we didn't have sound (conversation) along with great visuals.
Fantastic airplane! Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks! It is a fantastic bird, but things happen quickly. As soon as the gear is up it accelerates to 145 kts in the climb at 1500 fpm. Landings are at 120kts in the pattern and 100kts over the threshold. It feels very fast in a small airplane.
Finally flying! Congrats!
Thanks! It is a fun airplane to fly,.
@@funpilot2 I'm in the market for a Lancair 320 or 360. I might spring for a Legacy if the price is right. It's just my wife and me and we need to get about 1400NM to my family. A 360 would be about the same as the airlines door to door if I can get 200 KTAS.
Hello, Mr. Steve, is your airplane for sale? The one I saw on trade a plane magazine..
Just remember out of runway GEAR UP!
Are you still in the process of buying a JMB VL3, or is the Lancair taking its place in your hangar?
Going to Prague in May to work on the VL3 and get it ready to ship to the US. I might send it back to Spain but I want to have it N numbered. Still investigating EU and Spanish pilot requirements.
@@funpilot2 Oh, cool. I'll look forward to updates on that in the spring, then. They ship it to the states for final assembly and flight testing?
Final assembly and flight testing is done at the factory, then they take the wings off and ship it to a facility in NC, US where it is re-assembled and flight testing again and a DAR signs it off to receive it's N Number.
Good luck Steve. Thanks for taking us along
What are your fuel burns looking like?
Climb out at 30in is around 34gph. Cruise at 7000ft, 30in, 2500rpm, 215kts true, rich of peak, was 16gph. I have a cross country scheduled for next week and I'll get some more realistic numbers.
