Interesting video. I enjoyed the startup checklist and hadn't even considered how that glass canopy might get really hot in the right weather conditions. Flying a single engine small plane like that is kinda sorta like riding a motorcycle, you're always looking for an out and head on a swival. The consequences can be quite similar in an emergency situation though. Bean wasn't on board for any of your shenanigans. Lol! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇

I know this is an old video but ForeFlight only shows ADSB (connected to Stratus) traffic while in flight. While not moving, it will show internet traffic… I think they don’t want you relying on delayed data.

You need to select Traffic in your map layers drop down on ForeFlight. I’ve found that I have to re-select this every time that my iPad loses signal. I have the cellular-gps version but I don’t have a cellular plan for it so I normally use the hot spot on my phone. If you don’t have an ADSB traffic device connected you will only be able to see traffic as long as you have internet or cell service.

Haven’t used it in a little while , but I remember there being a “traffic layer” you had to click on to show ADS-B traffic. Also if there is still a hide distant traffic option in settings , turn it off to make sure it’s not affecting something ?

@@JollyRogerAviation A neat little tool to get if you want to spend some spare money is a Garmin GDL50 or GDL52. It works flawlessly with up to two devices with ADSB in and weather. It's independent of the other systems and has a battery that lasts about 10 hours. On another note, I just acquired a Lancair 320. I'm not really sure what I will do with it yet. It's super tight inside, so I'm not sure if I can get in it. I was planning on flipping it, but one side of me says "KEEP IT". Your channel is not helping the flipping side of the plane. It's about a 2007 with a certified IO-320 with 150 hours on it. I'm liking your channel! Oh, I have to laugh at your GA "newness". I feel that way all the time and I have been flying since I was 18, currently 59.

@@JollyRogerAviation @Jolly Roger Aviation Foreflight gets internet traffic data on the ground through wifi or cellular service (if you have cellular ipad). To get traffic data in air, without internet or cell service, you must have your ipad linked to an ADS-B receiver like the Sentry Plus. You may also be able to link your GPS navigator to ipad via bluetooth for ADS-B.
