When Alonzo says "Get in, it's unlocked", I only now realized that's it's because the street hoodlums most likely know that it's Alonzo's car, and no one would dare fuk with his ride let alone try and steal it.
My late roommate who passed away earlier this year showed me this movie and this scene was my favorite part. Now I can't even watch it without getting emotional thinking about him.
Sorry for your loss. this is my all time fav scene too I fell in love with the car and the song what a master peice. Plus when he says you're in the office baby damn just perfect.
You ever notice that the car is like Alanso (flashy, Bad ass, gangster at first). As Denzel gets in to crazier shit in the movie, the car begins to take damage and then at the end, the car gets destroyed as so does Alanso. Shows the irony of the movie with those two similarities.
Yeah, the annoying thing though is that car magically fixes itself a bit after the smash when he's fighting with Hawke. It shouldn't have even been able to drive away from that scene in the first place but it somehow is less damaged afterwards.
It's hard to imagine, but the truth is he's like a black Flint Eastwood and Chuck Norris all rolled into one except better looking and even more cool that way more cool
The way the raindrops look sitting atop the Monte Carlo and how overcast, cold, and rainy the weather is, just make this legendary scene even more legendary
My dad showed me this movie when I was 10 it’s was his favourite movie. I didn’t understand the movie when I was 10.Now I am 20 and fully understand it and why my dad loves this movie so much because he won an Oscar sea for his role as a corrupt cop. I always come back and watch this movie.
This was part of what made Alonzo dangerous. He knew how to charm and manipulate people. It's just that he happened to recruit the one guy honest and idealistic enough to fight back.
Anybody notice how beautiful the Monte Carlo is when Jake first sees it. Then as Jake starts to realize more and more how dirty the job and Alonzo are the more damage the car takes. Pretty good parallel if you ask me.
@@ionlycommentwhenimontheshi3915 LOL... yeah ok. Better tell all of those basic bitch midwestern girls that then. In reality, California is where people go to escape reality when shit gets too real. That's why the news is nothing but car chases and celebrity gossip. So pretty much anyone can hang
One of the things I like about this scene is when at the beginning of the video Denzel's character is looking ahead not caring to look side to side like what Hawke's character is doing, really shows the confidence and assurance that Alonzo has than what Hoyt isn't. Really shows the parallels of experience between both characters, a subtle detail between both characters.
Nice car. I love how tough Alonso is in this movie. Hoyt is in for quite a day. Listening to Alonso in the car about how well he knows these streets and how bad the criminals can be is great. Its an education for Hoyt at life in the Narcotics business. Training Day is one of my favourite movies without a doubt! Denzel Washington was well worth his Oscar for his performance in this!
This writer, david ayer, is actually amazing. I mean, yeah, it's over the top in ways it shouldn't be and light in ways that should be exaggerated, but no one else has captured the grittiness of socal like he has. I have a feeling it's the editors and producers creating the aforementioned aspects. He's actually been around it, he might not have 3-7 to show for it, but he knows what he's writing. Heat tier imo.
One of the dopest scenes ever. That close up on the hood ornament and front end is so god damn fire! Great vision. Not to mention the reason I am looking for the perfect79 Monte Carlo.
This film is so well-written that although superficially Alonzo's gangster look, including his car, are meant to impress us, given that it is cool AF, it could also be interpreted as a symbolism that this guy is not so much a cop, or not even a corrupt cop, but that he should be think more like a gangster going undercover as a cop (in a sense). Additionally, I do think, that the fact they are never shown in the police department, is meant to emphasize that Alonzo is really some sort of free agent who doesn't comply the law.
