This is my go-to method now. My hair has never felt better!! And it's growing!! Using just the oils and no leave-in conditioner shortened my drying time and left my hair softer. I have since added flax seed gel (another recipe of hers) to the oil mix and the results are AMAZING and long lasting! (I just blended it all together with an immersion blender, and popped it into the fridge to make it creamy.) Got great results for almost a week with just making 4 chunky twists at night to keep it all together. Thanks Whit!!! You ROCK!
I literally come here at least twice annually. Like I already know how to do the style but it’s so satisfying to watch and her hair looks so bomb. I miss OG natural hair content
Its 1am and I'm up watching videos that I've seen several times before...and I must admit I love twist outs. I just like the way my hair comes out and I get tons of compliments. But, I truly wanted to say, thanks to Whitney for making all of these videos. When I first went natural I had no idea what I was doing or what direction to go in. I was a product junkie BIG TIME!!! Always looking for that magical wonder product. But it all came through patience and time. All of these videos helped me so much. I'm glad that I could actually see someone do it and show me the proper way to achieve what I wanted to do. Thanks so much!!
Same. I started watching her years ago when I first went natural. These videos really helped me get my bearings with my hair and also inspired creative styles to make the process fun. I'm so grateful that I had these videos to guide me along my natural hair journey and I'm glad you had that experience, too!
My hair is medium length. I tried this and it worked AWESOMELY. It made my hair look closer to its actual length, which was very exciting. The only thing I would change is flat twisting the eight section down instead of just regular twists. I have 4C hair, (it's really coarse, kinky and curly), so my roots were still really thick. I loved it and I will be doing this for the rest of my life!! Thank you Naptural85!!
i love this video because it shows that getting specific results with your hair is all about technique. this simple routine has saved me from being frustrated and spending too much time on my 4a/4b/3c type coils! thank you lol!!
I started transitioning last year and it will be a year for me in June...I'm SOOOOOOO glad I found you here on RUclips...you inspire so many women to try different things with their hair...then you keep it fun AND informational!!! Stay gorgeous and thank you for everything so far...I know you'll have more to come!! Signed, One Loyal Subscriber*
I use this method all the time now as one of my go to styles. Works like a charm except my hair is not as full. Love it. This is my current wash n go method btw since I get major shrinkage. Thanks Whit!
Whitney, I saw this video when you originally posted it last year, but I've been binge-watching it again like a fiend all this week! Our textures are similar so you were a big inspiration for my 2nd big chop last year. I have another 4 years to go to reach your length, but your informative DIY and creative style tutorials have me looking forward to the growth journey. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and ideas with us!
I did the same style this past weekend and that was the best stretched twisted out I ever had. Because my hair is a little longer now, your stretched method works better now than when my hair was shorter. Love all your videos, keep them coming.
I'm in love with this video and I can't wait to try it out. It makes me proud to see the NATURAL Black Hair movement. It's a beautiful thing to see a women of color embracing her natural locks.
Nap! You have noo idea How much I appreciate you as a Natural Hair Queen! I've been on my journey for about 3 years now and you are THE ONLY one who has remained true to your style regardless of the competition or opportunities to make extra cash or receive free items! You will ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE! GREAT VID YOU LOOK SOO AWESOME! I'VE GOTTA TRY THIS!
Thank you for making your videos. I have been all natural for the past 6 months from the BC. Your videos have saved my life and has given me the ability to love the new me. Thanks again.
this is my favorite curly hair style on youtube cause wash n go's are really not for me this is the best for me cause oils love me and i love em back and don't mention shea butter
Omg this hair style has changed my life. I have multiple sclerosis and sometimes I can't do what i want with my hair. it's just to much. it is so cute and it does not take long. I love love love love love it thank you so much.
I tried this and on my 4C hair had the curl definition, length and bounce. This is another addition for a quick style. Thank you Whitney you are the best.
You are so beautiful and such an inspiration to me dear. I have had my hair natural all my life but I have never thought of giving it any special care until I watched your videos. Most of the people around me have said nasty things about me being natural but you have made me feel good about my natural hair and taught me how to take care of it. Thank you so much dear, may God bless you and your lovely family.
I've watched this video many times and have just nofticed that she said Trader Joes Nourish Spa Conditioner but holds up the Trader Joes Tea Tree Tingle... #minordetails Nonetheless, I use this routine when I wash weekly using the Terrassentials Mud wash; Its easy and works like a charm and I have 4b/4c hair.
I used to love your hair when you first started out. Now I can't do a single style. My hair isn't nearly this long or thick. Love your hair but way too much for me to deal with. If I could get shoulder length that would be great. Nice hairstyle!!
I don't get how this is different from a regular twist out. What makes your winter twist out take 4 hours??? Just curious because this is how I do all my twist outs.
Thanks for the suggestion of adding the oil in the shower and rinsing while twisting. Tried it a couple times and got the right amount of oil yesterday. Really like this style. You're the greatest!
Wow. So I just tried this and my clarify, detangle, condition, detangle, twist back up session in the shower was definitely the shortest its been in a while. I Thank God for helpful people like you. Be blessed. (Smile!)
I think the real secret is to get familiar and comfortable with your own hair type... find what works for YOU... and then own it. ;-) ... I'm still working on mine, but that's what I see when I watch her videos... she's not trying to achieve what other's are doing. She is trying to do what works for her hair and style. Just stick to it... Best of luck!
I get so excited whenever you put up videos. You have been instrumental in my decision to up my hair care routine and rid myself of continuous extensions. Thank you
Omg i did this and i got the best results ever! when it got old, re-twisting it was a BREEZE! it literally cut the time it takes to twist my hair in half and i got all the definition i wanted.i will be doing this all summer cuz i work out. Thanks so much Nap85!!!!!!
Tried this for the first time and it came out perfect! My daughters now want my hairstyle instead of flat ironing! YES! Thank you so much for your great tips!!
@Naptural85 I am going to the beach tomorrow! Trying this technique right now! I can say, it DID cut down on detangling time which is AWESOME! I have my hair wrapped in a t-shirt right now letting it soak up the water for an hour. Thanks for the tip!
i just want you to know you SAVED my hair. i got to the point where now I'm in college and have like NO time and my hair itself is a chore! this hair style is the best thing that ever happened to me andddddd its cute! thanks a bunch and i love your hair. BEAUTIFUL
It worked on me! I saw her and other natural youtubers' hair and realized I like natural hair better! I've never been a weaver but have been perming since elementary school. I'll be cutting off my relaxed ends in about two weeks, hope I'll look right with my tiny 'fro.
I'm so glad you posted this... I was just thinking "wow what am I gonna do for summer??" and you are so right ... it doesn't take long at all and it's PERFECT if your hair is super dry, and you have a tight curl pattern. L O V E this!
I tried out this style (with a few adjustments) and it came out fantastic. I got so many compliments on the street and they wanted to know how I did it. I had to name drop you and your video! Thanks again!
Howdy firm Tx. I love your videos and you have been a source of guidance for me over the last 3 years. I gently flat ironed my hair for the first time since starting this journey. I've taken Hiro advice to love each phase ( not always easy ). My hair, to my surprise is now bsl ( big chop 7/1/2010 ). Wow. Long silky, but I've grown fond of my big, free natural mane. ( beetle juice head ) Thank you Whitney. For guiding us all. You are a blessing.
I gave this a try last night. Just did my take down and my curls look absolutely beautiful! I was looking for a quick summer style & I found it! Thanks Nap!
Thanks so much for posting this video. It has been the answer to my prayers! You've helped me cut my wash and styling time down from 3 hours to about 30 -45 minutes! That's amazing! God is good! God Bless you and your family. And thank you for sharing your hair knowledge and your family with us. Love you Whitney :)
So, I have hair that's about shoulder-length and I gave this a try and I LOVE it! My hair is so soft! I still have a bit of color left over on the ends of my hair, but it just adds to the style! :-) Thank you so much for the inspiration
I tried this last night and think I found my new co-wash routine. Thank you so much. Tonight I'll re-twist w/ my usual products. Can't beat 20-30 mins in shower including styling for my length
your hair is so pretty, I love how it always has texture to it, its never a frizz ball where you have to search for curls [at least not on camera :-) ]
I need this hair in my life - only 3 more years to go! lol. It's coming along nicely after one year, but i'm so looking forward to styles like this - love it!
So I just tried this last night and IT WORKED!!!! I have 3c-4a hair and I was super surprised and pleased with the results!!!!!! NOTE: you hair does have to be completely dried before you take it down. Thanks Naptural85 your a live saver :)
I did the exact same thing except i wound my hair (like if doing a bantu knot but without wrapping it up into the knot. Twists gave me more knots surprisingly because my hair wraps up on itself when twisted)...i pinned the wound section the same way she did and it was SO PRETTY. took two days to dry but it was AWESOME. thank you Wit!.
Thank you so much for this! I literally just went natural but I have never been good at doing hair so I was terrified I was going to train wreck but I was able to do this and it turned out really well! Thanks again!
Watched it......Tried it.......LOVE IT!!!!! I actually did the co-wash and twist/pin on Saturday. I was in the process of taking the twist down (on Sunday) when some friends wanted to go play tennis, so I pinned them back up for the day. I took them down/out this morning (Monday) and I LOVE THE RESULTS. Full and stretched hair. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
omg thank you so much, totally saved my hair from loads of product in it and it looks so much more natural now than over dosing on mousse! best curly hair video ever, life saver!
Try a sleek low sock bun! I did that when I graduated with my B.S. If you do it early enough the night before, it will lay down nicely all day. I used gel to smooth down the edges, then took a blow dryer to it for a quick minute. When it was dry/semi dry, I wrapped the pulled-back section with my scarf and I was good to go!
i love your hair. Your tips have helped me so much and you've helped me get my hair healthy. It's nice and shiny now and i love the results that i got from your cocoon curls video. Your doing a great job and keep up the work.
sooo....I did this routine last night knowing it wouldn't work on my hair and i'll be darned if this isn't the best hair i've had since being natural. it just goes to show you don't need expensive products to have fabulous hair. Lesson learned. Thanks Whitney!
Do your thing girl and good luck. you are going to have fun with it. just make sure you keep watching naptural and other natural channels and blogs for inspiration.
All it takes is one naptural85 video and it gives me more motivation to go natural
Kim R. did you do it? c:
This is my go-to method now. My hair has never felt better!! And it's growing!! Using just the oils and no leave-in conditioner shortened my drying time and left my hair softer. Did you make your flax gel and which conditioner did you use?
Yes I made my own gel. The conditioner I like to cowash with is Aussie Miraculously Smooth.
Debra Banks Ok Thx!! It's funny I was thinking about Aussie prods earlier today
5 years later and I’m still coming back to watch this video! Can you do an updated summer one?! ❤️
I literally come here at least twice annually. Like I already know how to do the style but it’s so satisfying to watch and her hair looks so bomb. I miss OG natural hair content
Only about 10 more years till I get to this point looool I cant wait this is gorgeous
This tutorial reminded me how I got way better definition when twisting on soaking wet hair as opposed to damp hair. Thank you for the reminderrrr!
She has a awesome spirit, and she has taught me soooooo much about hair

Use the inversion method
Whitney, you're so pretty and I LOVE how you do your hair.! I'm gonna have to try this one day.
I don't get how this is different from a regular twist out. What makes your winter twist out take 4 hours??? Just curious because this is how I do all my twist outs.
Well she usually does flat twists when she does twist outs. More of a battle with the tangles.
Ah OK.
lol "The beach is that way, ladies" :) Lovely style hun♥
136 Are pissed that you can have beautiful beach curls!
Thanks for the suggestion of adding the oil in the shower and rinsing while twisting. Tried it a couple times and got the right amount of oil yesterday. Really like this style. You're the greatest!
I'm growing my own hair so I can swing it around...Lol
Wow. So I just tried this and my clarify, detangle, condition, detangle, twist back up session in the shower was definitely the shortest its been in a while. I Thank God for helpful people like you.

Happy Transitioning!! I did it for a year and videos like this helped me.

I can't wait to try this! May have to do it for the holiday! Thanks Lady for the hairstyle!
Your hair is so awesome! Thanks for showing us how easy natural hair can be
from dreadlocks to free locks/curls i'm a fan and "favorite" most of these bad aboys for my re-education/intro into free hair. Keep up the awesome!!
I put my oil in a hair color applicator. It makes it easier to dispense. Looking beautiful as always and Olivia is so precious!

Love love...I have been wearing my hair natural for a year and cannot wait until my twists are as long as yours.
OMG thank you, i dont know if i would've been able to survive summer without you
Try a sleek low sock bun! I did that when I graduated with my B.S. If you do it early enough the night before, it will lay down nicely all day. I used gel to smooth down the edges, then took a blow dryer to it for a quick minute. When it was dry/semi dry, I wrapped the pulled-back section with my scarf and I was good to go!
you have helped me (and my tresses) sooooo much these past 2 years! thank you! and your hair is seriously gorgeous:)
i love your hair. Your tips have helped me so much and you've helped me get my hair healthy. It's nice and shiny now and i love the results that i got from your cocoon curls video. Your doing a great job and keep up the work.
The music on your videos are so relaxing. I can't wait till my hair is long enough to try this method!

sooo....I did this routine last night knowing it wouldn't work on my hair and i'll be darned if this isn't the best hair i've had since being natural. it just goes to show you don't need expensive products to have fabulous hair. Lesson learned. Thanks Whitney!
Do your thing girl and good luck. you are going to have fun with it. just make sure you keep watching naptural and other natural channels and blogs for inspiration.
Tried this and I am so happy to find a truly quick and easy way to wash hair. Thank you, thank you!
