The problem is, at the time certain curly hair communities were against putting a lot of product at the root when in reality it doesn’t work for every hair type, especially those with coarser hair. I’m a frizzy root girl as well and it took me years to realize why I hated wash and go’s (I also have thick hair strands and high density of hair so that doesn’t help). Sometimes certain products can help, for me, curl definitions 2 step product line really is the easiest way for me to have more definition at the root, especially with my small “curl” pattern. The other thing I’ve realized is that some of us with frizzy roots simply don’t have curl all the way to the root. My hair is wavy at the root and only really curly towards the ends. That is really the challenge.
I can get great definition with wetline alone, but it sucks ALL the moisture out of my hair. So I prefer botanical gels because they are more gentle, but they don’t have enough hold for my hair type. I’m definitely going to try your method now! Thank you for sharing 😊

I love this video and how you throughly walked us through your method. As well as explaining why you were using two gels. I never thought about how we have multiple hair textures!
I don't put much product on my roots and never directly on my scalp. What I find helps is to end with gel (I use Aunt Jackie's) then run my hands under very cold water and then run my hands over my hair. This in tandem with sitting in front of a fan so it's cool air which seals in the curls makes a huge difference. Heat can increase frizz when hair is damp/wet. I do this even in winter. Usually for 20 minutes then use medium heat, no diffuser and I have zero frizz and my curls keep without having to reapply before wash day which is every 7 days for me.
Thank you so much! I use water, mielle leave-in, and only the 1 strong gel, and I'm good to go! I've been getting multiple compliments on my curls today!

Thank you for this great video. Do you think we can have the similar result with a curl cream plus a gel or mouss if the application is the same? Could you recommand your best products?
I always thought the reasoning was because our roots are lower in porosity and our ends are more porous. That has always been my theory that or people coiling their hair in the wrong direction.
Yes!! 2 days ago I realized the left side of my hair look weird when i coiled it to the right so when i coiled to the left it looked soooo much better!!!
This is a very thorough explanation. I loved it. I’m only wondering how you care about your hair over night and the next day as you mentioned your style lasts for a week. I’d be interested to know how do you manage? I struggle with the next day! My curls look beautiful only for the first one and two days. After that, I should start adding curling cream and moisturisers. Incidentally, I’m on Cantu brand. My hair is very similar to yours, it’s got several textures but it’s mostly 3C. Would you recommend a different brand? Thanks Sandra
I put it up in a pineapple and wear a headscarf overnight. But my hair literally bounces back very well. Even if i put it in a bun all day i could still wear it out the next day.
I'm struggling with this but my issue is hot flashes and night sweats. I have a good combo that works, it just doesn't last as long as it used to with all the sweating.
I really appreciate you making this video, because i honestly struggle in taking care of my hair. Constantly adding hairstyles to my pintrest board, but when i try it the results are completely different. Every time, i noticed their hair was more curlier and defined, while I had frizzy and multiple hair types. Since I'm obviously a beginner, i have some questions: how long does this hairstyle last, should i do this at night or in the day, and can i do other hairstyles over it?
Heyy yes results will vary depending on alot of factors. In response to your question, this hairstyle can last up to a week but you may need to re-moisturise and style throughout the week. 2-I recommend during the day so it has time to dry. 3-yes you can do other hairstyles over it
That's funny lol. But I feel like miss jessie honey curls leave in is soooo great. Pricey but worth it. That shit b stretching the curl dang near making it str8 and then it just makes very defined curls when it starts curling back up..that ...along with a good eco styling gel. Try that too
Im wondering what gels you used apart from the curlmaker? And what are the steps ? Which goes on first? Literally taking notes over here😅 is it better to fingercoil vs denman brush? The denman gives me puffy roots.
First of all: thank u for this vid. I will try it tomorrow and Hope that it is working on my eritrean Hair. But one question: isn‘t gel damaging Your Hair??
Why dont you use an oil? Isnt it better to use something without chmicals so that its nice to leave in? Wouldnt you have to do this every day? Or is that just how it is? Thank you so much!!
No you dont have to do this every day. I would do this once a week then maybe apply some moisturiser and water on day 4 and reset the curls. Oil wont do a thing for my hair except lubricate it.😅
@@kekekurly Yes I have never been able to figure out my texture til now, we have the exact same hair, mine gets tangled from just looking at it lol. And when I do detangle it never lasts unless I do a protective style.
Wow. Its indeed "different strokes for different folks". I have "3A/3B" hair and I only use shampoo, conditioner and a leave-in at the ends. Ill have to wash my hair the next day if I applied anything to the roots. I tried finger coiling once and my hair was all tangled up.
@@chenquillpen its an emollient meaning it coats the hair. Creates a barrier between the hair and other elements. It will soften and lock in moisture. Not to be used as a moisturiser in its raw form
Hi I struggle with hair that is like this and it’s hard to detangle. It seems like after I detangle, it just tangles up again :( Is my hair just damaged and I have to do the big chop? 😢
My hair is the same way. I’m looking into a smoothing treatment because I think my cuticle is raised. The leave in she used in the video is now my go to fav. I have 4b coily hair and it detangler like a dream now (without losing a bunch of hair). I do keep my hair somewhat stretched most of the time
I like to use Mielle’s curl defining mousse, so I don’t use gel. Should I apply a gel underneath the mousse and do the “apply at the root” method you portrayed in the video?
My daughter has hair like urs. a few different textures. Im gona try ur method. Iv tried something like ur method a while ago but it seems that as soon as i used the diffuser her hair just start puffing up. What am i doing wrong? Not enough product maybe?? She has A LOT of hair!
Hmm I have a lot of hair too. It's all about working in small sections and applying a good holding gel. If the gel is not strong enough it will puff up.
Thanks!

After that, I should start adding curling cream and moisturisers. Incidentally, I’m on Cantu brand. My hair is very similar to yours, it’s got several textures but it’s mostly 3C. Would you recommend a different brand? Thanks
Sandra
I put it up in a pineapple and wear a headscarf overnight. But my hair literally bounces back very well. Even if i put it in a bun all day i could still wear it out the next day.
Also Cantu is 🚮 i would try mielle or camille rose or as i am
Is there a product link for all those you've used in the video?
I'm struggling with this but my issue is hot flashes and night sweats. I have a good combo that works, it just doesn't last as long as it used to with all the sweating.
hmmm not sure how i can help with that- maybe try getting your hair up in a pineapple
3-yes you can do other hairstyles over it
@@kekekurly Much appreciated 💗💗
God bless you all and Jesus Christ loves you all!!
God bless you too
THANK YOUUU. The puffy roots is why I hate my hair
Yw- i know they can be very frustrating
omg my hair is just like yours why am i abt to cry LMAO i’ve been waiting for this
is it. Seems alot of people have this hair type lol
i was bouta cut my shit off. thanks for this lol
😂😂😂no dont do that
That's funny lol.
I used innersense i create hold and Wetline xtreme
Thank you for the useful tips and info you definitely saved me a lot of struggle 🙏🏻❤❤
You are so welcome!
First of all: thank u for this vid.
I will try it tomorrow and Hope that it is working on my eritrean Hair. But one question: isn‘t gel damaging Your Hair??
You’re welcome. No gel is not damaging to the hair. Just ensure you use a nicr moisturising one😌
Oil wont do a thing for my hair except lubricate it.😅
Do you do anything else to help it last all week? Night routine, morning routine etc
Yeah i have posted my curl routines on my channel
Nice video, what have you been doing at night to keep it neat?
Headscarf and bonnet
How do you protect your hair for sleeping? Thanks
I usually wrap in a scarf or bonnet or both😊
Very helpful video!! Do you not get flakes with all of this gel??
No i don’t surprisingly! These gels dont flake
this is the closest i’ve seen someone have hair that looks like my hair. May I know your hair type? also are you prone to getting tangles a lot?
I have mostly 3c with bits of 4a and 3b. It is fine aswell so i get tangles LOTS
@@kekekurly Yes I have never been able to figure out my texture til now, we have the exact same hair, mine gets tangled from just looking at it lol. And when I do detangle it never lasts unless I do a protective style.
Thank you
Wow. Its indeed "different strokes for different folks". I have "3A/3B" hair and I only use shampoo, conditioner and a leave-in at the ends. Ill have to wash my hair the next day if I applied anything to the roots. I tried finger coiling once and my hair was all tangled up.
Yeah afro textured hair can generally handle more product
can you say... " New Tetley tea bags." 🌹I can listen to you speak all day.
😂😂😂😂
@@kekekurly like the Tetley tea commercial. Please can you say it once 🙏🏾
@@ceeze9923 send me a super thanks and i will😄
@@kekekurly how do I do that? I’ve never even heard of a super thanks. Is it on the app?
@@ceeze9923 yeah its under the video you are watching. It says thanks as an icon
This is everything! Thank you☺️ - also, can you please tell me what was the song you used for the first half of your video?
Thanks- I think its called Wine Tasting. I got it from epidemic sounds
Trying this on my next wash & go 😅
Yours is fine lol
Very nice technique 🥰💙.. thank you so much for sharing! 💙
🙏🏽 thank you
I will try this because my roots don't curl as much and more frizzy
I needed this! I was going to cut my hair super short if I couldn’t find a solution to my problem
No dont do that lol! Glad i could help
Can I use shea butter than other gel? Idk about hair products at all
Shea butter will soften but thats about it🙃
@@kekekurly What does shea butter do? For some reason I have purchased a huge jar of shea butter🥸
@@chenquillpen its an emollient meaning it coats the hair. Creates a barrier between the hair and other elements. It will soften and lock in moisture. Not to be used as a moisturiser in its raw form
Would a hooded dryer work instead of hand blow drying??
Yes could do
Hi I struggle with hair that is like this and it’s hard to detangle. It seems like after I detangle, it just tangles up again :( Is my hair just damaged and I have to do the big chop? 😢
Try a cool water rinse to smooth down the cuticles of your hair. Also single strand knots can cause tangles as well.
My hair is the same way. I’m looking into a smoothing treatment because I think my cuticle is raised. The leave in she used in the video is now my go to fav. I have 4b coily hair and it detangler like a dream now (without losing a bunch of hair). I do keep my hair somewhat stretched most of the time
try getting a hair cut that usually helps alot
What is the difference between drenched hair, verses drying the hair, and then stray water on the hair
its down to preference really.
Hi how often should I do this and how should I sleep with it?
hello i will do this on wash day only. Sleep with your hair in a pineapple and scarf/bonnet
Thank you for your video and tips. Your hair is gorgeous! May I ask where you got the cute rattail comb?
You’re welcome its from Cath Kidston
This was PERFECT
This specific issue used to make me hate wearing my natural hair
Thank you
I like to use Mielle’s curl defining mousse, so I don’t use gel. Should I apply a gel underneath the mousse and do the “apply at the root” method you portrayed in the video?
Depends on the level of hold you want but yes still apply it to the root whatever you choose to use
@@kekekurly Thank youuu! 😚
Where can I get that diffuser??? So cute
this one was from belissima
How did you sleep on your hair to maintain it between washes?
ruclips.net/video/yADC16Jt91U/видео.htmlsi=1Jga4iMZ4hK7mWY6 here
My daughter has hair like urs. a few different textures.
Do u add a lot of water in ur hair or a little?
Alot before i style
I LOVE YOU QUEEN
hey! thanksss
Bruh my hair is literally straight for 1-2 inches before becoming curly. Thanks for the help!
do you have looser curls?
