Larry is probably the most underrated guitarist ever.
The Bubonic J.
Usually wouldn't agree, but that intro is so beautiful.
He does a great job supporting les, and picks his spots. This is definitely the best I've heard.
Yes, right up there with adam jones
Im glad im not the only one
He seems to shrink from the spotlight
Him being underrated is at least somewhat his fault.
Agree he's very good though, without a doubt.
Dereck Piché yeah but with Adam and Larry less really is more
Primus please make a White Goblin continuation. I've never been so enamored with a piece of music in my life. I didn't think it was possible. And to think it's based on a children's picture book. Each and every listen leaves me speechless.
Man, I've been a fan of Primus since the Misc. Debris days and this newer stuff is just as awesome in its own original way. These aren't just songs. They are stories, fables, lies, truths and fairytales for the open minded. Always have been. Suck on This!
True, Primus really has been about storytelling from the beginning
Les said in an interview that originally, he couldn't sing, because he knew he was not a good singer
He decided he wasn't singing, he was narrating the stories he wrote, and thinking of it that way, he was able to get over his stage fright.
@@asteriskcolon Not only Les' adroit bass riffs, but his erudite lyricism is what drives me to Primus many years later. Even the most casual listener can get a free $30-vocabulary lesson from listening to Les' stories!
If Goblin rock really is a genre...this is the poster child!!
Necrogoblicon would like a word with you.
As would some Finnish and scandanavian black and death metal bands...
Amazing stuff. Quite the saga for these little goblins..
Shits amazing!
This was my favorite song off the new album to see live. Thank you for coming to our small venue in avila beach, we all hope you're here again!
So fucking happy the primus fanbase is alive and well to this day
Alex Pena Since Lollapolooza '92. They sucked then, they suck now. Can't wait to see them next month.
This album is going to be a fucking trip!
TheRubberStudiosASMR HELL YEAHH
Trip... Indeed...
Mine too. Tied with wish you were here. Shame they took the chimneys down from the actual building. Not the same
TheRubberStudiosASMR Sorry to tell you this, but I already have he album. Two days early.
ITS GOING TO BE A FUCKING *TREK*
Primus never disappoints. Long time fan...teen in the 90's dreaming with your songs in the background. That... bass....mmmm....damn...
The creativity....this has become the Psilocybin story time! Thanks guys, I've seen you jam a number of time, looking forward to sharing your mind...till we meet again...cheers.
verytime...
Primus tickles me in a way no other sound can.
Cheers to the first Primus concept album
I'm not disappointed so far... hoped but didn't dare assume they'd do more great, original stuff after Naguahyde.
Primus and the chocolate factory is a concept album.
@@benp.320 I guess that's true, but it's not particularly original, I wouldn't call it an original concept album, more of a cover album that doubles as a concept album.
Am I the only one seeing a phallic-shaped rock on the background ? What a blowing song though
Maxime Weve ‘blowing’... I see what you did there lol
thanks, you ruined the video
This is the best they've ever sounded to me. Larry is channeling Steve Howe throughout and the progression is so satisfying. I absolutely love this.
You stole the words from my mouth...saw them live in Denver this year...best Primus show I've ever seen sounds weird but feels right...I've probably seen them at least 15 times in the last 20 years. Chocolate factory tour was awesome...but the material on this album is next level Primus and it feels so good🤘
Hell yea!!!
It’s so well put together and concise. They were always like that but seeing them mature has been nothing but impressive.
Primus in their... prime, shall I say.
Man I completely forgot I read this book as a kid, all the memories are coming back.
I feel Primus could make an album about anything. I want a Primus album next all about Robin Williams films.
Love this series. You should make a movie about this! 🥳😁🤓
Desaturation 7 would be one crazy jojo stand....
Larry outdid himself
Why isn't this the top comment?
Agreed, I noticed that too
And that is a difficult thing indeed. And yet he managed. The absolute bastard.
Word up!
what instrument does he play?
Soooooo funky and proggy, man I love it. It took a little bit and I had to clear my head of all the other Primus works but after I did and closed my eyes it was AWESOME!!!
Dont forget to wish Les happy birthday on the 29th
There is so much fun oozing from those songs. Les and Co. sound inspired and happy.
this is becoming one of my favorite prog albums of all time
One of the best guitar partures and solos in psichodelic experimental RnR album, ever...
Just hooked up and dialed in my preamp, didnt know this existed, it fell in my lap. Wow man. like whoa baby alright... 👍🏼 Yesh yesh y'all... 🤩🤠
Holy fuck that bass, I just came buckets
bucketheads
I wanna see a full on primus rainbow goblins dark ride at a theme park.
Progressive rock revival
It really is prog rock, even though I'd still argue Primus is more thrash-funk or funk-metal than anything.
They can wear many hats, anyone can when they're this good at music.
doesn't need to be revived
Kevin Phillips just because he slaps the bass doesn't make it funk metal. They don't consider themselves funk metal
In his interview with Metallica, Les joked "wanna jam on some isley brothers"
He's got interest in funk, if not a background. Funk is an especially loosely defined genre anyway... they don't consider themselves many genres, iirc
It would be hard to put Primus in a genre, but I'd say the trash funk is about as close as you can get. The funk is there in pretty much every song.
Those bass licks!! Les has so much room to roam with Herb!!!
Sic, never seen this. Primus was one of my favorite bands. Havnt thought of them in 15-20 years. Glad I did down the rabbit hole I go 🐰💚 🌈
This is the best i've heard from this album so far!
This deserves to be heard live to fully appreciate
Saw these guys live last Saturday where did this whole album. Amazing show and I bought the cd the next day and have not stopped listening to it.
It's phenomal.
With that said I can see why it's not loved.
True Primus fans have Notifications on!!
nope they do not even needs them...!
Truman Fleming you suck!
True Primus fans are tired of these bullshit songs and albums.
Hehe yeah.
Max Brand Are you kidding me?
DANG!!! this slaps. this is my favorite song off the album so far
My favorite Primus... Les Claypool... Album. And I love all of them..
This is an amazing song. Just amazing.
this was acually an italien children book from 1944. sorry for bad english
No it's from 1978 the author was born in 1944
favourite song of the album
Chapter 5 please!!! Two and a half days is still too long to wait!
God damn, Ler is killing it on this track!
wow primus is back love your quirky style and outlook on life and oh! I'm a life long fan 😊.
Wow! This new primus album is just calling for my yearly lsd journey. So delicious!
In the middle of a good one right now. Fucking great job!!! Holy shit!!!!
If i have to hear one more super funny and original primus sucks comment i might just shit the bed. They just get more and more funny with each year that passes by.
Prumos suk ahaha
I guess it's a good thing comments don't make any noise lol
They're almost as funny as all these comments about ejaculate. Comedy gold!
God damn shit the bed
Futrets Ænima I forgot the pen, shit the bed again...
Great show live, caught them this last Saturday, awesome times
The solo instrumentals & storytelling take me back to the Fisherman's Chronicles.
Been a while since I've picked up a bass, but this song makes me want to, and figure out this song. One of the coolest basslines I've heard
Prog Rock Epic Concept Album, meets Primus. My 2 favorites genres, but never thought they would meet before!
twisty slappin' & groovy epicnessniss Les Ler & Tim 😃👍
orange and red...seem pretty.......close
Bedtime story yay
The excursion begins in revelry
But the miles compile a sense of disparity
And the day becomes perilously long
The best way to cope
When the end of your rope
Is dangling in your face
Imagine the taste
Of the glory that awaits all ahead
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
It's over that hill
The very next hill
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
Paradise is just over that hill
Trudging through life
Dodging peril and strife
Filling those days
With a lackadaisical malaise
The adventure seems perilously long
The best way to cope
When the end of your rope
Is dangling in your face
Imagine the taste
Of the glory that awaits all ahead
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
It's over that hill
The very next hill
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
Paradise is just over that hill
As the miles compile
And the journey still seems perilously long
The best way to cope
When the end of your rope
Is dangling in your face
Imagine the taste
Of the glory that awaits all ahead
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
It's over that hill
The very next hill
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
Paradise is just over that hill
Over the very next
Over the very next hill
Thank you !
nilbog....it's goblin backwards!!!
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDD
Matt Gonzales redrum
They're eating her...and then they're gonna eat me!!!
And you can't piss on hospitality. I won't allow it!
Matt Gonzales fresh air. Country air.
this album is fantastic !
This is like the Primus version of The Necromancer.
This is a definitive cure for a bad trip
Definitely my favorite so far. Incredible
Can't wait to listen "The Storm"
My kids are 7 and 9. I bought them the Rainbow Goblins book and this Primus album. We're going to read it together, stare at the artwork, and listen to Primus.
Great way to start my day!
Love that rainbow bass!
At last, one of the epics of the album
My reviews on the 4 songs I've heard:
1. The Valley - 6/10
2. The Seven - 10/10
3. The Trek - 10/10
4. The Scheme - 9.5/10
JC GuitarRacer i've taken the task of reviewing (with commentary) the album song by song.
I pretty much agree with your ratings.
The Valley was good? More reminiscent with Frog Brigade and the Wonka album. Good intro to the album. At least a solid 7.5
Feel the same, except I'd switch the ratings of The Seven and The Scheme (my favorite so far).
I also like the valley least
Omg I had this book as i was a child.
5 years now, but it would still be rad to get a claymation video of this.
can't wait for this album!
Best song so far.
This reminds me of some king crimson/ greg lake stuff!
Please come to central florida. You have a lot of fans here!
I absolutely LOVE THISSSS!!!!!
release that new album all over me daddy les
Lol
Deliciously weird :) Awesome! Love Primus
best song of the album
The storm is great too
this is amazing
I recommend being deliriously hungover while consuming... This.
This reminds me of Punchbowl....instant Primus classic here
Totally getting a brown album feel from this
Damn, amazon now shows vinyl release date as Oct 6. Cd still Sept 29.
Like so much !! Great this Album !!
Strange but i love this song.
Oh! ...and D's Diner in this tune SOOOOO much! I knew I was missing something heh...
Godly
This one is absolutely killing me.
Awesome
Thanks Primus for providing an amazing respite from an increasingly turd choked world! Les Claypool for president ! Seriously
Lars Walsted you call this respite? i mean its a bunch of dudes jamming at best. still better than 99% of music but their material lacks cohesion
01:48 .... Totally Pink Floyd vibe .... gives me collywobbles!
Used to read this book to my kids ... I used Roger "The Hat" from DSOTM as the voice for Indigo.
Wooo!!
This artwork reminds me of Caress of Steel by Rush.
Best song to hunt mushrooms to
Yesssss!!!!
Fucking brilliant! I missed you
Just got The Desaturating Seven!
The drumming and vocals in the slow part reminds me of Pink Floyd
i fucking love it
WOOOOO
This is a Lord Of The Strings septology.
Something about this album is unsettling to me.......I kinda like it
I've been using the name Chris P. Bacon since I was a kid (which, trust me, is a LONG time ago now) and now people are going to think I got it from this shit!
Oh yeah yeah
Ler's gone acoustic on us! He's a master of guitarin' !!!!
Thanks Dad
