As a small child, I was never read bedtime stories. Now, thanks to Primus, I have the experience of having a tripped out man reading me a story about rainbow goblins. Thanks Primus! (not sponsored by Primus)
The last thing that Les Claypool’s bass playing needs is Lars drumming. Lars is a fucking awesome drummer for Metallica but I don’t think it would mesh well with les’s is playing. But I would pay good fucking money to see Primus and Metallica come together and take over the fucking world.
My teacher in 5th grade had this book and read it to the class; every kid was fascinated with it. I actually got it for Xmas that year and wish I still had it. thanks Primus for bringing it back and introducing it to a new fan base.
Primus please make a White Goblin continuation. I've never been so enamored with a piece of music in my life. I didn't think it was possible. And to think it's based on a children's picture book. Each and every listen leaves me speechless.
I like how this is just a children's story book... but it's the old kind of children's story. It's not like "Bobby the rabbit went to his grandmas house, and they made an apple pie, and Bobby learned that it's good to work together", its "these little ravenous fiends aspired to greater and greater gluttonous and malicious acts, until the flowers got together and murdered all of them with the very stuff that they most desired. let this be a lesson"
@Gud Boi ...no dude. It's literally, as in actually a hundred percent, based on an actual children's book Les Claypool read over and over to his children during bedtime. He thought this book was so unique and cool, he wanted to make music around it. That's all. Go calm down, chill off the Infowars, and eat some jellybeans or something. Jiminy crickets.

every track of this album so far has been so satisfying for me. i'm especially loving Claypool's effects choice and how LaLonde's guitar parts are taking centre stage more often than in usual primus tracks
The more I listen to this song the more I think it's one of the best songs they've ever written. It's not a banger the way Jerry Was A Race Car Driver, Tommy The Cat or John The Fisherman are, but it's so well done and a fine pice of rock music. Easily among their top 5 songs.
I'm seeing people talk about how this is going to be one of their best albums that I saw complaining about the album yesterday because "The Dream" was too slow. I'm both confused that they've suddenly changed their minds based on one song, and happy that they have
There was a LOT going on in that song! I about had a seizure. Luckily though, I listen to this music regularly. (seizure prevention tip: listen to lots of Primus and Rings Of Saturn)

Tour thoughts: since this is "An Evening With" tour, anyone think they'll play the whole album or just certain songs? I don't see 7 songs taking up an entire "set" because the Evening With shows are usually 2 sets, yes?
thablakester they split their concert into two parts they play their old songs first then they have a bunch of Popeye cartoons then they play their new album
During the Green Naugahyde album tour which happened after the tour that happened once the album had already dropped, they did the whole album then an intermission and then the 2nd set BUT the title of the tour was something like "Naugahyde Live" so it pretty much gave it away. Ambushing the Storm only really hints at one song on the album. If the title of the tour were something like "An Evening With the Seven" then it'd be more obvious that they'd be playing the whole thing...
So earlier today i went to guitar center.. (Whilst tripping on acid) and a guy started playing this and other various primus songs on bass. And i flipped out and started air jamming hardcore. Like he played it note for note and i about shit a brick.
As a small child, I was never read bedtime stories. Now, thanks to Primus, I have the experience of having a tripped out man reading me a story about rainbow goblins. Thanks Primus! (not sponsored by Primus)
This is a weird episode of Reading Rainbow
Meadowlark Grapefruit underrated comment
What do you mean? All episodes of Reading Rainbow are like this.
You didn't taste the rainbow?
I'm eatting frozen grapefruit juice rn
@Boco Corwin Certainly Deep Space 9
This feels like an advent calendar. With each new day, comes a video of delicious Primus music counting down to the full release. I can't wait.
totally man!
Trolls Boggle, it does😂

This was my first time hearing primus definitely a fan this album is cool as hell
One of the goblins must be called or have the nickname "JoJo"

This is really really good. I had my doubts about this album but damn boys. Hats off. Will see you on tour again.
The more I listen to this song the more I think it's one of the best songs they've ever written. It's not a banger the way Jerry Was A Race Car Driver, Tommy The Cat or John The Fisherman are, but it's so well done and a fine pice of rock music. Easily among their top 5 songs.
I read the book to my son before I found this album. Music fits great and I highly recommend the book to any parents.
It's like Primus meets Yes.
Ozric Tentacles.
Yes Yes! Roger Dean
Tales of Prolific Oceans, more like Gates of 'Delerium'
yes
I'm seeing people talk about how this is going to be one of their best albums that I saw complaining about the album yesterday because "The Dream" was too slow. I'm both confused that they've suddenly changed their minds based on one song, and happy that they have
I can't bWRYYthe who gives a fuck what other people think
This album is amazing when tripping its unreal. Completely different feel to it.
I’d say The Trek & this are the two best track so far. GOBLIN ROCK
the real question is:
who is this Shirley taint
Apian Kwaad Yea when that lyric came onto my screen I was like what the hell lol!
The new John Galt
Dances With Pawns You mean the white goblin? There is a sequel to the book.
"Surely you can't be serious?"
"I am serious...And don't call me Shirley."
Just saying.
Who indeed?
Awesome. I think this might be the most classically "prog-rockin'" Primus has ever been!
Bedtime story again YEEEEEEES
I fucking love everything about this album, EVERYTHING,, so well done guys!!!
There was a LOT going on in that song! I about had a seizure. Luckily though, I listen to this music regularly. (seizure prevention tip: listen to lots of Primus and Rings Of Saturn)
Hey, your comment is a yer old. But thank you!!
Rings of Saturn.
Noted
oOh Lord one of the best Primus songs ever!
Tim is a beast brutallllll....
I’m a new fan and grateful that their still making stuff
That groove that starts at 5:07 is SO GOOD
This is a god damn masterpiece
Definitely inspired by Floyd, and yet totally different. Freaking love you Primus. And thank you so very much for the imagery! Off the hook.
"that they will surely taint" "who is this Shirley taint", as in the pun from the movie Airplane! where a character says "don't call me Shirley" in response to the word "surely".
*W H A T T H E F U C K ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?*
Les is a clever fella and loves Airplane!
Man: "This girl is sick we must get her to a hospital immediately!"
Woman: "My, what is it?"
Man: "It's a big building full of sick people but that's not important right now!"
It should not be WHO is Shirley Taint, but rather Chew on Shirley's taint!
Quantitative Hotdog les Has a strong sense of humor
The Melody really helps to make an easy poop.
That riff at 3:37 sounds like Opeth
I can't believe someone else noticed that
More like the other way around
Heard that too.. Orchards of evil or something like that
Really digging this album. I get so many different vibes and call backs from their previous work, but mixed with a proggy freshness
God I love this album

That intro is very reminiscent of some A Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres kind of Rush.

thablakester probably the whole album plus other songs or the regular set is longer or more encore songs
thablakester they split their concert into two parts they play their old songs first then they have a bunch of Popeye cartoons then they play their new album
Roque Solorio that was just for the 3D Tour that they had the Popeye cartoons in between. I remember that lol. That was like 4 or 5 years ago (ish).
During the Green Naugahyde album tour which happened after the tour that happened once the album had already dropped, they did the whole album then an intermission and then the 2nd set BUT the title of the tour was something like "Naugahyde Live" so it pretty much gave it away. thablakester I didn’t go to the 3D tour though lol I went to the green naughahyde tour in 2011 and they still did that
A STORM! A STORM!
That's it, I'm permanently relocating to Primus World; Normal World-nice knowin' ya. 💣

It sounds like he says "Arakened" instead of awakened in the opening reading of the book part, am I missing something or did he just say it weird?
Sensing many Pink Floyd vibes
also king crimson vibes

Saw this live tonight and thought the same exact thing. Very Floyd killer visuals too
