Once a week gets a woman for the night
And he writes home tales of prosperity
For the boy we have American life
Bob is an unemployed veteran
Born and bred in the South Bronx
He's living off the streets down in east L.A
Residing in a cardboard box
Now he plays a little guit and he has a small dog
Searching for aluminum cans
And he hold on tight to his dignity
He was born into American life
In the third verse, I think it might be "He plays a little lick" but I'm not sure.

I was in the sun, Parker Solar Probe is why I wanted to be in the sun as a child. Truly a legendary probe.
@@Nemoawnz mann can't say shit on the internet anymore without it becoming a meme smh
@@roycetaylor6529 in all honesty, I find comments like yours amazing and love coming across them.
That bass is so damn hypnotising, really good song.
Yayeeeee!
I was there!
Lemmy tought me to love the bass! SO KEEP THAT BASS COMING!!!! (R.I.P LEMMY!)
I like how Ler just throws his slide down when he's done with it at 3:13
We listen to this every 4th of July...
U S A 🇺🇸
Not only do I love Les, Ler and Tim.
I love Jay Lane.
Don't forget to add in Brain. Primus has had three drummers, and each has been extraordinary in their own ways.
Top notch drumming
Actual fact: I wish to be as cool as Les Claypool
The guitarists prettey good too
He's insane...
Larry is freaking amazing. Loved him in Possessed, love him now in Primus
This is my favorite live performance of any song ever
Primus 2011
Les Claypool:Primera Voz/Bajo
Larry Lalonde: Guitarras
Jay Lane: Bateria/Coros
this is now my new favorite band...Jesus. hands down, the best live performance out of any band.
Life-changing, no other way to describe it. Tight and imaginative all the way through the jam in a song that's brilliant to begin with. Mind = blown
ALL HAIL TO LES ! KING OF THE BIG STRING !
I like primus live more then on the albums. He is a musical genius!
One of their best songs live! Seen them over 20 times!
One of the best things about Primus in 2011 is that everyone was still in the moment, taking in this epic version of American Life...only a few cell phones out at 9:50 after an epic instrumental that makes a Primus show what it is. My first Primus show was in 1993 and still listening and watching in 2020.
Jeez he almost does David Gilmour's guitar solo from Echoes!
You a Floyd fan too, cool...
It blows my mind, the possibility of another universe where Les Claypool is better than this...
Aaron Simonds if so I wish I could fucking live there
A. Simonds you never know, maybe we are very lucky to live in a universe where he is even this good at all.
The guitarist is good as well, intertwines perfectly with that bass
@@sks0158 I know what you mean but if there's really an endless amount of universes than that can't be true. Anyways Les is still my favorite musician in this universe
According to the multiverse theory, there’s a universe where Les Claypool is the emperor of the galaxy and everyone has to be able to play this song before they’re allowed to eat.
Primus is the JAZZ genre of ROCK ,so groovy man!
Les takes on the role of the Pied Piper when he starts playing American Life.
9:13 i absolutely love this on the guitar
The bass as lead instrument. Good lord Jacob would be proud
Somehow I'm related on love to bass. When I can't hear it in almost every rock- metal band I get sad. But here in primus- I got into now- I'm huge happy because of it sound perfect. Thanks.
I'm usually more of a Herb fan, but Jay is killing it here.
Same. Tim is phenomenal but this performance is amazing.
I remember in the early 90's thinking this guy was way ahead of his time the 1st time I saw him live.
That voice crack at 1:04 is the only humanity in Les
He did it on purpose!!! 😮😮😮😮
The sound engineers did an awesome job. What a great mix.
