    With the packing cubes, you are supposed to open up both zippers - pack you clothes in it and then zip it closed and THEN zip the compression zipper last. It will make it a whole lot easier to put your clothes in the bag and you will probably get better compression results. That toiletry bag was a great find, I love that it has a built in jewelry section! Safe travels.

      I knew that but didn’t even realize the other zipper was zipped until I was editing the video. 😂

    I’ve travelled light like that but I’ve always included a sewing kit and a dry bag.

      Yes the dry bag for sure. I just had to buy a little sewing kit.

    I just received my toiletries bag today, the same one you have, and had fun organizing it for an upcoming trip. I chose that over others because of the jewelry organizer. I am a new widow but have taken solo trips the past two summers in my 1999 Dodge conversion van to visit family and friends. I will be joining siblings on a Caribbean cruise, my first, in February, and have watched many videos as I chose a spinner bag and backpack for my luggage. I don’t want to check either bag if I can avoid it. I chose a crescent bag to be my purse once I’m unpacked. it has been a fun process getting ready and this next trip will be a good test of how well I’ve done. I’ll be driving a car that I’m giving to a grandson and then will fly back. On the way, I’m going to stop and see a girlfriend I haven’t seen in 59 years. Thank you for your video.

    Nice set up . I love the way you are constantly thinking about what you are not using .
    Do you ever have a Problem with the weight of your bags going through the airport ?
    Thank you for sharing …

      I have not had any problems with weight. My last flight two days ago I did pay a few dollars to add a second carry on. I was 1 kg over the limit for the 2 bags and they said nothing.

    I think that's a really good kit, you have got quite a bit more than the 'serious minimalists' but that makes it so much more realistic for living life without washing clothing every night.

      Agreed. I seem to ditch an item or two every time I stay somewhere. I no longer have the raincoat which was for my volunteer week at Elephant Nature Park. I also have one less shirt since I am losing weight and that one was the biggest size.

      @@juliastimeout So many of the minimalist videos seem to have no more than one change of clothes and those are very skimpy or thin items.
      I appreciated you havibg one pair of lightweight trousers and the scarf for covering up in temples etc.
      And the walking trousers are a little more substantial if the weather or situation needs it.
      I always have a longsleeved t-shirt as well as 2 or 3 short sleeves and tank tops, but otherwise l think our packing ethos is fairly similar.
      (I am in Europe, so the thin fleece jacket and waterproof jacket would stay in!)

    I’m here for the packing vlog 😊 I’m readying for my own adventure very soon and only have plans to use one 40L and nothing else. Thanks for your tips. Look forward to see where you are flying to next!

    I've only been really minimal on a PCT LASH, but I'm looking at replacing my small rolly suitcase with a pack for travel. The rolly ones are great for airports but not so much for walking,trains or even road trips.

    • @juliastimeout
      @juliastimeout  3 месяца назад +2

      Exactly. I love this pack because I can wear it like a backpack, but zip up the straps to keep them safe and use as a duffle. It’s like two different pieces of luggage.

    15 kilos, including carry on luggage is my rule for travelling anywhere. It is a lot less than you travel with. Basically a carry on sized suitcase and a small carry on bag. I have travelled the world with that in all weathers. Travelling light makes travel so much more enjoyable. I wash my clothes out at night and dry them in my room overnight a lot too!

    • @juliastimeout
      @juliastimeout  3 месяца назад +1

      I am scaling down with every move. I do the same thing and wash things out almost every night. It’s an amazing feeling traveling so light.

    how informative. I'm reconsidering using my big carry on & picked up some good points. I travel minimalist too. ("mix & match"). thanks Julie.... safe travels.

    No I could not because of a bad back. I am about to go visit friends & family domestically and I am attempting (or going to attempt) to travel with only a personal item but it has to roll.

    • @juliastimeout
      @juliastimeout  3 месяца назад +2

      That is completely understandable and backpacks are not the best choice for everyone. We all need to do what’s best for us! 😀

    How do you carry two backpacks when you are moving around? One on your back and one on your front?

    How do you manage to keep it all under 10 kilos? That's the weight limit for carry on bags.

    • @juliastimeout
      @juliastimeout  3 месяца назад +1

      The flights that I have been on allow 7kg each price for a total of 14kg combined. I paid a few dollars for a second carry on. I weighed in this last time at 15kg combined snd they just let it slide.

    Minimalist traveling and living can be cooked down to one sentence. - "Do i want it or do i need it?"
    Most of my European friends that are used world travelers often just go over with hand luggage because they know that you can find anything in se-asia alot more affordable and often better adapted to the climate than in any western country.
