You guys have a video for everything I literally spent all week watching your videos it's endless. In a week I now know how a good suite looks. I now know proper table manners how to accept a compliment and now how to style a denim jacket. You guys are legends
I enjoy the videos featuring Sven and Preston, but their personal styles are far more formal than my own. I just don't wear suits or ties very often, so Kyle and his more casual looks both are far more relevant to my own life, wardrobe and shopping habits. So what I'm saying is that for Gentlemen's Gazette, adding Kyle is one of the best moves that you've made as far as video content - his takes on dressing are pertinent to the modern man's daily life. (I suppose that can be taken as a commentary on the casualization slide of style, but it it what it is.)
The key is to pick up two. One black one blue. That will cover wearing black jeans with blue denim jacket and then wear the black denim jacket with blue jeans. And they will last a life time. All the best denim comes from Japan.
I recently bought a vintage blue denim jacket from the 80’s. I wear it with slightly contrasting blue jeans, tee shirt or a button up shirt and cowboy boots. I love the look.
Lol I am used to being a critic about people wearing white tie ensemble and me seeing their photoes. I always check the waistcoat first and that thing has affected me a lot.
Yep. This is DEFINITELY the worst Gentlemen’s Gazette video. Raphael must be throwing up with the shortness and tightness of the jacket, white t-shirt appearing under the OCBD and even worse, the UNTUCKED DRESS SHIRTS.
I love the Gentlemen Gazettes videos as a whole but Kyles videos especially, because i relate more to him and his style. Cant dress as formal where i live. But i love the videos that the others make such as the piece reviews or the history of clothing videos Preston makes.
This dude is the best thing that has happened to this channel in a long time, definitely makes the channel more approachable for those that aren't as fluent in style aka me. His voice is also next level
If I may ask, how many hours between all team members go into a Gentleman's Gazette video? They're always impeccably made, good job Kyle on the presentation!
I’m a denim collector and expert about fabric in denim and nothing compares a Levis LVC trucker type II in your size and a Lee 101 storm rider both in a white Levis LVC 1950 t shirt. Only thing I dislike it’s not making them in US fabric a total made. I’m from Spain and it’s the same you will eat with non spanish olive oil.
Denim jackets look amazing with patches. Sure, it can be overbearing, but I find that a plain jacket looks boring. Patches are a nice way to spice it up and show of your personality
I agree. I've put some 60s, 70s and 80s Band Patches on mine. Bands like Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Whitesnake etc. But thats just a jacket for free time experiences of course. Not anything I'd wear on a serious appointment
I have one denim jacket with a single flag patch above the chest pocket, and i think it looks very nice. Almost like a military uniform turned rebel-casual.
Definitely but it depends on what you're going for. Gentleman's Gazette usually goes for a more formal classic look. For that a patched out denim jacket doesn't really work. I love rocking my punk jacket where it feels appropriate, but i also keep a clean one, that let's me wear it places where a full denim jacket just isn't appropriate.
Great stuff! I actually first looked at the video and thought - 14 mins to show 8 styles really? I was hooked with the history of the jacket and everything after. Superb content, timing, and detail. I love wearing my jean jacket as a middle layer under a grey overcoat or a maroon quilted bomber.
I very much like your denim jacket wear advices for the men. Your type channel is needed for the men of all ages. Even on their off days one can look great! Well done. Thank you.👍😊🍀
Agreed. Not a massive fan of that look either; doesn’t look good on anyone, regardless of build. That’s a shame as the other combos all work really well.
Hi Kyle, just watched the video and i like very much the jacket you're wearing. Especially the color. May i have a link a link to the model of yours or something similar at least? thanks
I love this video! Not only did get to know how to style it best but also the history behind it and how to purchase the right one. Thanks a lot for the insight! One question though: for the last look, should the overcoat be of another shade of it’s also blue? I love this dark marine overcoat and have a dark denim jacket si I’m not sure…
Hey you got “selvedge” and “raw” denim mixed. The word “selvedge” only refers to how the edge is finished. It has nothing to do with the wash of the denim.
Great presentation style with those oufit diagrams, and Kyle narrating. Love my black & my dark denim truckers as well as my sleveless, patch-riddled fleabag in formerly ice blue. It's like with everything else - all depending on the occasion. EDIT: Not feeling that shorts-look, though. If it's warm enough to go sockless and in shorts, it's too warm for a denim jacket, and it looks really odd in combination.
YES! Kyle has great speaking voice and this topic is in vogue. Please put out more videos like this GG. Just re-subscribed. Don't let me down. > More vids like this!
You do realize that the traditional Levi’s trucker jackets (jean jacket) is cut higher up the lower back then traditional jackets. So naturally most shirts will hang lower then the jacket.
@@36424567254 true, but most people aren’t tucking in shifts under Jean jackets. Sure if you want to dress up the Jean jacket, but even white t-shirts will hang lower then the bottom of the jacket.
How do I search for a dark blue denim jacket that has that lighter fade in the some areas like the one Kyle has? All I find are jackets that are all dark blue.
I dig every outfit--except the fact that I'd replace boat shoes with loafers (not a huge fan by way). Also--when it comes to the last outfit--Id definitely recommend replacing a denim jacket with a denim vest (it can actually be any type of vest). I find it difficult to layer with jackets...so as sweaters with sleeves because I find the aforementioned combination greatly restricts freedom of movement. It's probably due to an armhole falling into an armhole, thus you're feeling like a Michelin Guy. When it comes to middle layers...a vest (and kind would work) will always be superior to any other garment with sleeves--unless you're possessing an outer layer with bigger armholes, which doesn't look so pleasant either.
I'm shocked there was no mention of the Levi Jean Jacket with the collar turned up! So much more manly when collar is turned up! Also note the Trucker Jacket can be worn without a shirt at the pool or beach with swim trunks. I bet I own a dozen Levi Jackets in different colors and degrees of wear & fade. Just remember, if it's lined go up one or two sizes, and don't get too carried away washing them.
with the world reopening post Covid-19 Victoria, Australia and many other places are having their spring racing carnivals for example Melbourne cup can you please do a video on race day attire for men
That's a hard negative for me on outfit 4. Shirt sleeves rolled over jacket sleeves looks a bit odd. Untucked shirt messes with the ratios a lot. The shirt itself is probably the big offender. It looks like it wants a tshirt instead, maybe a polo max. Also, trainers or chukka's, the boat shoes feel so strange there.
I have to admit that I have a penchant for triple denim with a jacket, jeans and western-style shirt, worn with either boots or sneakers, maybe it works because my hair is long
Great video Kyle. I love outfit #7 and was thinking I should buy a denim jacket as I have very similar chinos, turtle neck and boots (same shades) as you in that one. I used to own a Levi’s denim jacket that I bought from a charity shop (similar to US thrift stores) but I got rid of it as I tend to fall in-and-out of love with denim jackets, plus I found it awkward to pair. I will seek one out now though! Outfit #5 is an absolute no, however! I’ve never been a fan of “hybrid” dressing in the summer and the DJ and shorts combo just looks odd to me, especially with the leather loafers. It just looks to me as if everything else is in the wash and those were the only clean items you had! Sorry 👎🏻🙊
7:28 It does not appear that you can button your jacket nor the overcoat when layering. Your clothing is too small and their fit doesn’t correspond to the looks in the photos. Especially if the goal in layering is to keep warm, you’re not demonstrating that well. And if the denim jacket is that snug, you certainly won’t be able to button it if you wear a sweater or vest underneath.
Sadly the Denim Jacket looks bad for people higher than 6'3'' unless they make longer for the hip and belly jacket. Levi's should make a option in the store for this group.
Look for flat-feld or otherwise sealed interior seams so it doesn't shred.... ...and tuck in your shirt, so you don't look like you forgot to finish getting dressed! Nothing looks more uncool than your shirttail hanging down below your jacket.
Personally not a "denim-dude" in spite of some cultural connection via metal music, Kyle's smooth and relaxed voice might actually have convinced me into trying at least a denim jacket, the trousers are not for me because of their unyielding fit (there's medical conditions at work here, not exclusively style preferences) but the options with chinos decidedly have promise - once I manage to get beyond my suit and combination fetish😂. Newsboy is great as well as flat brims small and large brimmed fedoras and lets not put ball caps in the taboo pile. Think Indiana jones with denim.
