Patti…what can we say, she’ll leave you mesmerized every time you watch a performance of her! She’s also the only person that I know can glissando through a whole octave! She was a pro since she was born!
Aretha has no rivals with riffs and runs, you are a nut... And there are countless singers with more vocal agility and clearer diction. Pattis voice was very ugly.

Aretha didn’t need dramatics, fakery and loud belts to be successful. She didn’t need to roll on the dirt and spin around on her head to captivate an audience lol.
Since I don't have you! I think its a white song originally but Miss Patti just flavoured it beautifully with her own black essence - ces't magnifique!!!
The song is called “Since I don’t have you”. This is a very different take on the original hit by the Skyliners. Although the group was white, their recording reached the top 5 on the R&B shafts in 1958. This much more soulful version that PL does here also appeared on one of her albums. The song was also recorded by Guns and Roses and their version was very different. Members of the Skyliners wrote the song.

@@drummerc1795 Quit being ridiculous. I love Patti. I loved the unique dramatic style in which she uses her voice. I love her huge extravaganzas in the 80’s, with her huge operatic head voice and sustained vocal power. But people should really be honest about the quality of her voice. Her voice is sharp and ugly of tone with poor ugly phrasing, mediocre agility, with no beauty or authenticity. No one’s denying her fan base (which tend to be the uneducated and homosexuals, who all make awful head wails in sync with her at her live venues. it is hilarious) but when the history books are written Patti will barely get a mention. She is not a great voice. Mediocrity has its place, but it will never be next to the greats.
Thats how Mariah Carey paid tribute to Patti Label. The way she did that vocal runs on a song Somewhere over the Rainbow
