She has truly been blessed and she passed her blessing on! She’s the Queen of Voice! And she deserves everyone in the music industry respect. I love her!
I felt this. I can't tell you how bad I needed that big beautiful voice to sing me happy or her stage antics to make me laugh. She's an icon and a treasure. I'm glad people recognize how truly special she is while shes still here.
Patti doesn't try to outdo anyone on purpose it's just that singers of her caliber get in a zone and something spiritual just takes over allowing them to just outshine everyone else they're singing with.It's very hard to contain than feeling once it takes hold.
See I've been thinking about who's the better soprano. Chaka in her prime sounded better to me because her style was more urban or R&Bish although she'd consider it just funk. Patti is more soulful and Id say has a stronger soprano.

She uses a lot of head voice...Chaka is a different breed and my all time favorite, so I may be a little biased here, but facts are facts. Chaka is a contralto and uses ALLLLL chest voice to sing in her upper register (which is extremely hard to do). Chaka's overall range is much wider than Patti's, because of Chaka's lower register (Patti has never sang a full on bass note song the way Chaka has, think "Everlasting Love" or "Best of Your Heart" or even the beginning of "Stay" just to name a few lol). Chaka doesn't use falsetto and has sounds just a strong as Patti.
