David, if you reacted to nothing but Voiceplay and Geoff I would be completely satisfied! Others have told you that Disney invited them to sing this at a corporate event. They showed us a bit of their rehearsal to do it live. They usually add so much layering, especially with the beatboxing, that Layne had to re-work the arrangement. The scenery is a hanging backdrop with barrels and plants strategically placed. Geoff's Disney princess hair flip is out of this world!! Next, react to their Drunken Sailor!!!
Before we get into this incredible video, Geoff dropped Big Iron today! Now to Bruno. Ashley got 2 sizes of the peach shorts and floral tops, she then talked him into wearing them. Geoff screamed but Layne thought it was so close to the screaming goat that they put that in. If I Were a Rich Man/Girl is Ashley, Running Up That Hill, some minis - River, Surface Pressure, Shero Returns, Time Warp, Como La Flor, The Pink Panther Theme, Your Turn to Role (Critical Role game). I'm sure there are more.
This one is really fantastic, I'll never get tired of it (going on 1k times 🤣). You really should check their last one, Classical Chaos; I think you'll love it too. Great to see you back on VoicePlay!!
David, I thoroughly enjoyed your R&A. You pointed out so many things about the arrangement I had never appreciated before. Now, I'm off to capture that purple lighting of Camilo-Isabela and make it my desktop photo 😄
Small comment about that 'red' umbrella - it is also visually balanced on screen by Layne's shirt. That is part of why it is not TOO distracting. As for the Pink 'skirt/shorts' - they are shorts - for both Geoff AND Ashley. She ordered more than one size to be positive they would fit her and then proceeded to convince Geoff that he needed to wear her extra costume. I'm quite surprised that he could fit in clothes just 1 size up from Ashley. I'm also quite surprised that it wasn't apparently actually planned ahead! You noticed Ashley's reaction to Camilla/Isabella/Geoff - now check out Layne & Cesar giving him the side-eye on rewatch! And YES! Remi moved. They used a kind of wind-up toy that belonged to Layne's daughter Doris. Lastly - Disney heard this and had them come do it live for a special meeting. They had to make a few changes and practice like crazy, so I presume that means they did layer parts in the video which they needed to adjust to sing live.
It was Ashley's idea that Geoff should change into Isabella. Luckily they ordered her costume in several sizes and so they fitted Geoff as well. They both wear pink shorts. In the BTS we see them two dancing in dress together. Layne is great as Dolores. Disney invited VoicePlay to perform this at a private event. Sadly the private video that exist has awful audio. Performance and analysis both superb as usual.
I LOVE that you immediately caught that Geoff was playing the shapeshifter and that's why he changed! That goes right over most peoples' heads. Glad you enjoyed this one so much, it's just so much fun--that umbrella toss is one of my favorite Cesar moments, and his exchanges with Ashley at the start (a _really_ subtle bit of acting on his part that I didn't catch until after I'd watched this many times: as Ashley sings 'It was my wedding day,' he turns and gives her this beautiful soft smile) and Eli's bit about his hair disappearing, and the rat scare--eee! I need to get back to recommending this to more people. It tends to slip my mind for some reason. Oh, but I think the "man of my dreams/betrothed to another" line was actually Dolores, not Isabela (whose part Eli then picks up again immediately after.)
The glasses just used to be part of Eli’s costume, actually 🤣 He never needed glasses, but he used to wear them for most of his performances as a style choice.

Ashley is a good friend of Cesar, also from Puerto Rico I understand. Geoff is truly a shape shifter. That beatific look on his face is so Disney Princess. The outfit is idenical to Ashley;s just one size bigger. They bought two sizes for Ashley to try so why not use them both? Geoff says he isn't an actor but of course we know better. I think Geoff's hands equate to Elvis' hips. He just can't help it. :) Talking of patter songs I wrote one once ( a la Gilert and Sullivan) but can't sing fast enough now to perform it. They are such fun .
I read a comment when this first came up that very well sums up that part of Geoff changing... "Geoff is living his best Disney Princess life right now."

That one turned out really well. My reaction to Geoff's "moment" was similar to your's. 😀 They always seem to have lots of fun with those Disney covers. I'm still looking forward to you getting around to doing some Ayreon songs. All the live videos for the last concert are being released on the official channel. With those you have a mixture of cool stage design, musical theatre, Prog-Metal, a lot of great singers and in general musicians having a lot of fun on stage.

That said, I NEVER actually saw/heard clearly Caesar's "THUNDER" line". Now I have no idea how I missed it. I always enjoy watching your reaction videos and I look forward to seeing more!

Surely you've seen Ashley, in Rich Man if nothing else. The scream is rumored to be that "goat scream" that was an internet meme a few years ago. There's also a video online of a live performance they did of this at a Disney event. And yes, the official MV sound track has some double tracking, but it's not so much that they weren't able to adapt it out for the live performance. The differences between them (apart from the gain on a couple of the mics not being set correctly for the live performance) are relatively subtle and don't change the arrangement all that much, despite the fact that they didn't *know* they were going to be invited to do the live performance, when they created the arrangement.

So instead I'll just vote for The Bass Gang, either _If_ _I_ _Had_ _a_ _Heart_ (newer) or _Mad_ _World_ (older).
