This was so much fun! I still go back and watch your OG first reaction to this/VP just because I love your genuine joy watching it. Now to have this super deep dive is so great. Thank you for this. Congrats on your 2 years, and I also can't wait to see what else you get in to.
I watched your first reaction and analysis of this. Watching your delight, joy, and astonishment upon discovering Voiceplay. Voiceplay have two numbers in contention for a Grammy nomination. The first was Geoff's arrangement of The Way You Make Me Feel; the second is Layne's arrangement of Hellfire. Would love to see them nominated and winning it. Winning the grammy? Can you imagine the joy in the fan base and their Patreon universe? I will be smiling for weeks!!
Happy 2 year channel-versary! I enjoyed your first reaction and analysis of this medley and it was wonderful to see you revisit it with all the additional information and skill you have now. Thank you! 😊
I VIVIDLY remember coming across your intitial analysis. I was on vacation in Florida and loved your absolute astonishment and appreciation of what was going on and yet your background had you being able to make some insightful observations on the musical mechanics involved in their performance. Now, I'm actually living in Florida (though Hurricanes Helene and Milton have me questioning that decision, and I may be moving out next year), and am looking forward to revisiting this.
What a splendid choice for your 2nd anniversary! I love your original Wicked reaction; I love seeing new reactors being floored by VoicePlay, and your initial reaction was so pure and memorable. I love how this new reaction expands on the analysis so I see so much more in this piece than I have before, yet most the important factor -- your emotion during Good, your delight in the arrangement -- is just as vivid as during your first introduction. What a fantastic idea. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and enthusiasm with us.
Happy anniversary! TheatreWorld Backdrops is the company from which they rented the iconic Wicked clock. They put their company name on all their backdrops. often in conspicuous places like this one. Geoff does love his crunchy harmonies on the music he arranges, doesn't he? Interesting facts: Rachel had laryngitis on the day of the video shoot. She portrayed Galinda/Glinda in the 2nd US national tour. She has a album of Broadway songs coming out in Spring 2025, including "Defying Gravity."
I enjoyed your analysis. I like your talk about the set, atmosphere, and music. This is so much nicer than just watching a person freak out about Geoff's low notes without any other information. I appreciate the music so much more when I am explained how it all works together. Thank you, for taking the time to pick this all apart for us!
Thank you David for your superb reactions. It's always a delight learning more about my favourite acapella group who l think are incredible. What a wonderful way to celebrate your two years of analysis. So much looking forward to your reactions to VPs and Geoff's latest releases.😊😊
Congratulations on your second channel-versary! While I very much enjoyed your original R&A video for this medley (I think I've watched it three times), it was delightful to see your more considered analysis as well. Thank you for sharing with us.
If possible, I'm enjoying this analysis even more than David must have experienced during the filming. And it's well appreciated and comprehensive discussion. Kudos on two years of lovely sharing! VoicePlay has also been receiving industry notice this year, as they're up for consideration for possible Grammy nominations for two of their songs. That's a massive accomplishment for an independent group.
Happy 2nd Anniversary, David!! Discovered you since your first video. Instantly subscribed and still enjoy your reaction very much!! Love all the details that you can find in all videos you did.
I'm pausing about 16 minutes in to say I stopped and went into your video history to re-watch your original take on this. (it's a LONG scroll to the bottom 😋) I'm enjoying the above video because I always love how much you see, but I must admit, the genuine delight and appreciation for their talent that shines through your entire first reaction was just so wonderful to watch. You had no idea who these people were, but man, did they astonish you with their performance. So far, I've watched all of your VoicePlay videos, and Pentatonix. I'm a bit hit or miss on the rest because I'm a bit obsessive, I'm afraid. I left a comment on the original video directing you to the Little Mermaid medley, to let you get the joke behind Geoff's "look" at Caesar's "KILL THE WITCH!" I know I've watched you react to it but now I think by then you'd forgotten about it. You haven't gotten there yet in the above so I'll be watching to see if you remember.
Happy anniversary, good sir! It's been a joy watching you develop your style and confidence, and I look forward to seeing more of your keen observations for a long time to come.
I saw your original reaction when you first put it out and instantly subscribed. I love your musical knowledge and the way you articulate 😂 the information, and the sheer enjoyment you express so freely.
I love that the Wicked Medley seems to compel people to do a second deep dive analysis video 😁 a brilliant video! And I wouldn't mind a revisit of the Little Mermaid Medley for the 3-year anniversary 😉😂
Thhiis was a lot of fun, even if I should have been asleep awhile ago! I rermember seeing your first video, and still go back and rewatch it from time to time.

Watching you geek out over this arrangement and performance was such a pleasure, happy anniversary!
Right. That’s today’s method of procrastination sorted!

I’m so glad you came up in my feed 2 years ago. It has been great watching you grow!🎉

And happy 2nd Sub-versary to me, then. I do love deep analysis in general.

What a fun idea to revisit the song/video that began this!
Happy anniversary! I'm glad RUclips recommended to me your very first video 2 years ago. :)

The BVs in the the wizards song “Wonderful” remind me of a calliope or an old fashioned merry-go-round at a carrnival.
Happy 2nd Channel-versary David ... Here's to many more 😊

Thanks for the analysis. Congrats on your second YT anniversary. Geoff created a wonderful arrangement for this cover.
So glad to see you doing this one again. I remember that first day. You've lived up to the promise.
Happy channel anniversary! I really enjoyed this in-depth look at a masterful medley.
