Opacity reduces the opacity of everything on the layer, including Layer FX. Fill only reduces the opacity of the layer. I don't know when I started reducing the Fill instead of the Opacity all the time, but I think it's kind of handy in case I decide to add in Layer FX at a later time. -B
It's hard to explain through text. The two work very differently in how they adjust color values. I use curves because it gives you more control and can give your image contrasting without adding in a lot more white and black pixels. -B
I've never thought of Lava as being very reflective.. It's molten rock, so in my mind it's very matte and has that slight, super-hot glow to it. Neither Eli or Myself particularly liked Twitter to begin with, so we hardly ever check it. It's mostly there just so people can get notified when we upload a video. -B
I'd really like to see more tutorials like this Brandon, because it is possible to make in almost any PS versions , doesn't require anything else really (not like fonts or textures but like Cinema 4D because most of the people don't have that)..btw great tutorial, Thank you and keep up ! :)
Unfortunately, the Clouds filter is random and wasn't made to be used in a pattern. So trying to get this to repeat flawlessly would be very difficult. -B

I need help Ch-Ch-Check It. I got a sucky Dell D430 Latitude laptop and I can't use all the features in photoshop CS6. Is there a tricky way to make them work? We can't afford a new laptop for now.

I was able to use this to create a lava texture as well as distorting and changing some things and made a cracked ice texture as well.

Difference Clouds is like creating a new layer, applying Clouds, setting the blend mode to "Difference," and then merging down. How odd, right?
