Does this still work? I don’t see simple commands under skill and games
the app you recommend for this, either doesnt exist or doesnt work, downloawed it three times and all thatb came up is a white screen.
It didn't even come up when I looked it up on play store
following your instructions was like filling in the blank, or like working on a puzzle because your instructions were not clear and skipped many steps that we had to figure out by errors and trails but it gave us a point of direction to follow, so thank you for that. after a few hours it feels like we are almost done.
Can you help me I cannot even find scenes on alexa

While this isn't a great step by step video it will work. Keep reading and if you think through it you'll get it working. (using android not apple). 1st Key, make sure you can control your MY Q door with the SimpleCommands app. 2nd Key step: in the Simple commands app, you will need to select the "item(s)" and then "manage voice companion Alexa and or google assistant" and "Enable the Voice Triggers". 3rd Key: get the skill added and linked to Alexa. Under "Your Skills" from the Alexa app, you should see "Simple commands" but it will "need attention". Click this and then select "Settings" and Link account. You will need to sign in to Amazon. It will say you need to download Alexa app, but if you already have it your done. If this isn't working, just Ask "Alexa, Simplecommands". Alexa will send a notification "card" and place a "needs attention" note on "your skills" page. Select settings and "link account" as above. NOW THE FUN PART. Set up a Voice Command Routine for both open and close. You can shorten the Open Command to what ever you want to ask Alexa to do. This can be different than the name of the routine, however THE KEY PART of this is the CUSTOM "Action" This is where you have to type in the Alexa command. Alexa, "ask simple commands to open (whatever the name of the door is (listed as it is in the simplecommands app). You'll have to set up a second Routine for Closing it. If you don't know how to set up a "routine" watch other RUclips videos to do that and get the basics.
It looks like Simple Commands has gone under. The app doesn't even load onto phones... and when I created an account on my PC, the options are all gone. It appears as though they are no more.
I have been following you steps.... and I have to say, I wish you would have been a little more detailed in all of this.. you just say... " this is what will happen, that will happen" and you seen the pages pop up... but not very clear on STEP-BY-STEPS... this would have been more helpful... you did day .. to have you MyQ open to have the Simple Command to sync ... and when you move over to Alexa .. I was way lost....
If you only have one garage door. This wasn’t that complicated. Soon as I had simple commanded synced with Alexa, it worked. Told her to open/close garage. Worked.
Dang my phone is too new for simple commands... hmm...
god you have to re do this video. after you write down what you want to say. you changed so much it's to hard to follow. but like others it gave me a start. I'l try to figure the rest out on my own. thanks for the start. any way

Cannot find the simple commands skill, maybe no longer existing.. trying to get MyQ garage door to work with Alexa and thought this would be perfect
THIS is y he says this is complicated! Not everyone can teach. So I’ll be calling Amazon if I can’t get it to work per his instructions. I’m glad that he’s letting us know it’s possible though.

I'm stuck! I've connected simple commands to Alexa but how do you build a routine adding a scene? I do no see this option in the video because yours are already created.
I did this like 9 months ago, i remember that step being hard to find in Alexa, but i did eventually get it. Maybe you could share how to for others with the same problem since it’s still fresh for you lol.

I've completed the steps as you said but Scenes does not show in my Device tab. Like it shows on your video.

How do you get those commands to appear in scenes and then in routines? I followed every step as closely as I possibly could on this crazy video haha please don’t teach a firearms safety tutorial! 🤣 Btw has anyone ever told you sound like Grant Cardone? In all seriousness thanks for making the video, I didn’t know SimplyCommands was the key to making Alexa work before seeing this. Now if you could just clarify the scenes and routines part, that would be awesome! Thanks!

@@GoodHomeAutomation thank you for sharing this. I had previously gone through these steps as I was trying to decipher this video, but it seems there is an issue while discovering scenes. I read on some comments that it may be the garage door companies that are behind the problem, others say Simple Commands is responsible. Alexa will not discover the scenes anymore unfortunately. Thank you either way for the step by step guide, it was perfect. 👍
Simple commands does not work anymore (ssl error). Buy and extra remote and pair it with your opener. Buy a wifi relay switch. Solder the output of your relay to the circuit board button of the extra remote. Done. You can now ask miss A to open or close the door with 2 routines.

Your instructions leave much to be desired try doing it correctly from the start 😂
Constructive criticism time. This block of instruction was horrible. Too many steps skipped. You need to start from scratch(aside from installing app). You already had ur $hit added. Visual step by step instructions would be better. Dont get me wrong.....A for effort
