This is great My unit is ready to go up in the garage tomorrow morning. All of the software and config was spot-on and just works. Thanks for taking the time to record and publish the video.
Had one working for about 3 years now. We DID make our opening the door phrase obscure so no-one can guess it. Loved it so much I took the controller to our new house.
Steve, you did it! Great to find your video and learn about this product. Couldn't get it from Amazon UK but no problem finding it on ebay. £5.99 from China and delivered in a week. Easy to install, took about 15 minutes and works with Alexa just like you said. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! I just did this using your video in about 15 minutes! Works beautifully! I combined this with a door sensor mounted on a hinge on the garage door, so now I say "Alexa, Open the garage" and she opens it, then via the sensor reports "garage door is open," Same deal when closing. Thanks for the video!
Genie techs told me that this can be used with Series II controllers. Genie S2 wall consoles have three buttons, but just two wires connecting them to the motor controllers. That means there is some sort of signal encoding on wires, not just on/off momentary contact that a push button (and a Sonoff relay) provide. While only one Wall Console can be connected, it turns out that the same terminals on the controller can be connected to any number of push buttons without interfering. The terminals to use are #3 and #4 (also labeled BWC, which stands for Basic Wall Console).
I saw this video a couple of weeks ago and tried it, worked perfect on my sliding garage door, very useful video Greetings from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴

Did the same . Only problem i have is that alexa only works by saying “ Alexa garage on” i really want alexa to open when i say “Alexa garage open” to open and Say “Alexa garage close” to close. Any ideas? Please help and thank yoi
both of our remotes died. thank you for taking the time to provide this solution. the link opens to one that doesnt' arrive for 6 weeks. I recommend maybe updating to link to one that is already in stock in the U.S.?
I figured out how to turn the Sonoff Basic RFR2 into a dry relay and installed it on my door. Works great. Now, I have the extra benefits of using a 433 MHz remote control to open my garage and retained the voice and app capability of the Basic.
Thank you so much for the instructions! Works brilliant! One of my remotes died and this is less cost than a new remote and never needs special batteries ;)
Just followed along and got it working 1st time through! You rock man, way cheaper than other ways of doing it. Now to add a door sensor and a night time routine!
Great video, made setting this up easy. So I wired this up and I'm using the inching function and the N.O. contacts. It works great except after a power outage when it reboots it opens my garage door. I've tried adjusted the Power On State in the settings but it doesn't seem to matter which one I use, On, Off, and Resume all result in the door opening when power is restored. Have you experienced this or have any suggestion on how to address it?
Hey does it open when it connects back to wifi or just when it powers back on.. If it's just when it powers back on, you can run some batteries to it so when power goes it will still have power. If it's because of the wifi however, I haven't figured out that yet
Dude!!!! You are super awesome!!!! Every other video involved soldering and cutting the board! Your tutorial had me with the device set up in ten minutes!!! I'll comment back when I hook it up to my garage door. Thank you!!!

I've watched a couple of these videos are your was straight forward w/o any bullshit - thanks, For a couple of bucks you can buy a shallow single outlet/switch blue plastic junction box from Home Depot with a blank cover to safely enclose and mount this setup.
Hi Steve, Great video, thank You. I have a craftsman opener with the temp/time wall controller. Its a simple 2 wire hookup , but not simple operation. Any ideas how to make this work ? thank You for your time, Ken
Cool idea...but wouldn't just one function do it? Press your button and door raises. Press it (you defined up button) again and door will go down. My bigger concern, and I understand that you were not addressing this, is that you would also need to set limit switches which will report to your phone that the door is indeed up (or down) in case it went down, hit something and returned to the up position for the remainder of my day or night. There are of course numerous additonal functions that could be VERY cool, and likely cheap to implement. Well done for a clear and concise instructional video.

Cool, I have watched many videos on this, the missing bit you gave was adding Alexa routine to use open garage instaed of garage on :-) I now have mine working perfectly.
Have two now. Garage and one set up for on/on and off/off. Don’t know what to do with the second. Maybe a panic switch for the house alarm system to trigger the siren on command. Second sonoff would not “inch” until I changed it in the settings in the eWeLink app
Thanks for the video, especially for reminding me how to make specific Alexa commands “turn garage door on” doesnt impress the grandkids as much as “Alexa, Open Sesame” 😉
Hi Steve ! Great video !! I'm trying to do the same function but with other model of sonoff device, sonoff basic r2. Can you help me pls ? I have an idea but I'll really preciate your comments
Thanks so much for your instructions to setting up to control the garage door. I have followed and hooked up the sonoff to the garage motor, the output cables go to connector PB and GND which is push button and ground. The garage door open and close when using a jumper wire to check. On powering up the sonoff unit, the garage motor indicator keep flashing and the garage door doesn’t work. I set the relay on for 1 second. I checked the relay closed for one second when not connected to the garage motor using the multimeter which is correct. I can’t figure out why it affects the motor when powering up.
If the command "close garage door" is given, and the garage door is already closed. Wont that open the garage door? Given the fact that is doesnt have a feedback or a way to know if its open. And the button press just actuats a command to power the motor on. Thanks. This device is pretty nifty esp. for the price. I am just trying to figure a way(on the cheap) to set a routine to make sure my garage doors are closed at night.
Thanks for the great video set uo the switch with no problem. The problem is i have a four places were the wires run one for the opener a second for the opener the two more for the wires to sotp in case of a emergency. Can you help me out the opener is liftMaster MyQ 2017

I have solved the problem of the motor led flashing by moving the sonoff unit away from the motor. Somehow the sonoff frequency must be affecting the motor. Thanks for your help.

I really enjoyed your video! Very cool! Just had a question. I was wondering if it matters which wires you connect from the motor to the sonoff. I have red and white that go from the wall button to the motor. Does it matter which of those wires connect to common and NO on the sonoff? Thanks!
