In this video we teach you how to connect and set up a MyQ Smart Garage door opener. These instructions will work for both Liftmaster and Chamberlain Garage Door Openers that have the MyQ Wifi Symbol on them. Once you have your MyQ Smart Garage connected you will be able to remotely control your garage door to open or close it from your phone. You will also be able to check the current status of your garage door and see if it's open or closed from the phone.
If you have a newer Liftmaster or Chamberlain garage door opener there's a good chance that it has MyQ built in an that it's capable of connecting to your wifi network for remote control from your phone. It's a good idea to check
How To Set Up MyQ Smart Garage Door:
1. Check your garage door opener for the MyQ wifi symbol. If you have the MyQ symbol on the garage door opener cover which is typically located on the side of the device your garage door opener should be able to connect to the MyQ App.
2. Download and install the MyQ garage door app. Set up a username and password.
3. Follow the instructions on the app then select your garage door opener from the picture.
4. Make sure your phone has wifi, bluetooth and location turned on.
5. Press the learn button and follow the instructions on the MyQ app. Your MyQ garage door will then connect to the MyQ app and allow you to control it remotely.

It is finicky and connects and reconnects often on its own. But I do like my q
I never needed my garage door opener to connect to my wifi, and this has created even more issue than I originally had.
This has been the most frustrating thing I’ve had to do since moving into our new house. I’m so over it.

I used to work for this company. It should work if your opener is one of the newer models with WI-FI Capability. Otherwise you would need to call customer service so that they can send you one of the hubs to help with Wi-Fi access.

This will work with any garage door opener. I switch my chamberlin for a precision door opener and it works fine.

I have two chamberlain garage door openers for years being remotely controlled via the MyQ app, and it doesn’t work anymore. All of a sudden my configured MyQ app settings were wiped out and I can’t seem to make the MyQ app to work with my two garage doors anymore. Now both garage doors open and close at the same time. Seems no matter what I do I can’t each door to accept commands separately anymore.
Would be nice to be able to turn the lights on/off

The green LED is your network connection to the Internet. It will flash initially while establishing a connection, then after possibly several minutes (10?) it should be a solid green light. If you power down the gateway after a solid green light, you should get a green/blue LED flash on power up and then a solid green LED fairly quickly. When green is solid, press the left mouse button.
What do u do if it says it cant find any networks i full bars. (On wifi 6)
I live in a new neighborhood and the app shows like 10 different garages. How to find out which is mine? EDIT: It's the last 3 digits of the serial number on the back of the opener under the barcode.

Well I have it set up on my phone, but also wanted to set up the car button on the mirror which comes in handy if you don’t have your phone
I won't use the car opener again because thieves broke into my car and stole it, so I'm not replacing it.

Oh boy! Realized yesterday that my opener is MyQ compliant (just moved to this house less than a year now)...spent a few hours yesterday. NO LUCK! I'm doing it right from the opener. I don't have any of the on-wall controllers shown in the app. The previous owner only had one of those generic beige/white keypads. Cannot find any videos that shows how to do it right from the unit! The app says to unplug the unit, plug it back in, press the yellow learn button 3 times, then the square learn light show blink and make a beeping sound, meaning it's ready to connect. Well, I tried a billion times but the blue learn light NEVER comes on! No beep! It still finds my unit, takes me to the wifi setup, but won't connect. After a while of this insanity, it no longer finds my unit. WTH?!?!?! Who's the saddist who designed this garbage?!?!
Reading all the complaints here now makes me realize that I should probably NOT waste anymore time on this. Even if i manage to get it to work, I make end up encountering all sorts of random headaches after. Am I asking too much of companies to make/sell things that work? Amazon, Wyze, Microsoft, now Chamberlain...wasting my time to make their products work as advertised!

I called tech support and they walked me through a different way to connect through a website and not the app. Surprisingly it was helpful and the only way to get it working.

For those having problems getting it to work through the app there is a work around from tech support. I would post it here however it requires an external link (and one is not allow to post external links in comments); but if you contact tech support you could mention how to do the setup but by passing the app. Still need to use the app after the initial setup; but my issue was after entering the password for the network the app was not able to stay connected long enough for the "beeps" to indicate it had setup correctly. Everything was correctly setup for my network etc because the only thing I did different to get it to work was follow their instructions for by passing the app.

Useful TIP which WAS NOT IN TROUBLESHOOTING - a FORCE clear of the Wifi password so you can reenter it if it repeatedly refuses to connect blinking blue or blue/green - Hold the rectangular button down ten seconds until it beeps multiple times. That USEFUL tip is what you need to know if it keeps failing.

I had mine connected to my phone for 2 years. I changed my wifi company and tried to reconnect my phone and now is says the serial number on my device is not recognized. C'mon man. 😒

Alerts never work. I can open and close but that is it. Never alerts me and sends me a notification when the door is opened or closed.
Check notifications - mine works always - everytime I go to the bar mid day it lets me now that I have set it for 50 min open - never fails
