We have Chamberlain openers with MyQ. One day we went on a short drive and I forgot to turn off the stove. I called my neighbor to go check. I told him I’ll open the garage door for him. He said wait your not at home? No we were 20 miles away. He was blown away. And yea the stove was on 👍
I have one like this but I have a question. When it searches for an opener to connect it gives me a list of about 5. How do I know which one is mine. Tia
I was really excited to get the wifi enable garage door opener when I first saw it. When my old door opener died I decided to spend the extra money for the MyQ enabled door opener. It worked great for a few days, then we had a power outage and it failed to reconnect to the wifi. In order to reset it you have to press some buttons on the overhead unit. This meant that I had to pull the release cord on the door and roll it up manually. Since I use my garage to store my classic car I had to install the battery in order to move the car out of the way. After I did this a few times I realized that because my garage is a metal building the connection to the wifi is too weak to connect when the door is closed. I put in a Netgear range extender but that only works half the time. The other frustration I have is I can't have a second door closer button at the front of the garage. It used to be super convenient to step out past the sensors and reach in and hit that second button to close the door. Now I have to use the keypad. It has been about 2 years since the last time I reset the MyQ. If I could find a more rock solid wifi extender to work in my detached metal building I might start using it again.
Great video - I am getting one of these installed here this week. Quick question, Is there a way to turn off / disable that obnoxious safety beeping. That was just too much and its just my wife & I so no need for all that jazz.
I got the camera and really wish I hadn't wasted the money. I have the motion sensitivity set to the lowest, and still I get notifications of movement when the camera switches from daylight to night vision (there is a window in the garage). And it is not smart enough to realize the only thing changing sometimes is that the garage light turned off (like after 2 min). And the subscription to store any motion-triggered events, so now I only have live-feed anyways. Eufy (with my doorbell) has the better system for storing those locally.
I have this but I get off line error a lot. I sometimes have to turn off the von on my phone but other times it works just fine with vpn. I was thinking of creating an NFC tag to make it quicker. Any chance you can make a video showing that if it's possible? Thanks Bret With 1 T
Have you tried it with the MyQ light switches to control other garage lights? It's handy to have lights other than the small garage door opener light coming on.
That is the odd part that I don't have any integration with the Garage Opener Lights. I'm looking at making the Garage lights smart with other triggers.
They no longer sell the Chamberlain light switches and removed the integration management from the app. I had my lights on a schedule, but when I deleted the schedule, it all disappeared, and I'm unable to re-add.
is there a keypad outside of the garage as well? if i need to open it and i don't have my phone on me or keys on me. my old opener had a keypad to punch code in outside the door
You can connect it through a third party called Simple Commands in the Alexa skills to have it work with Alexa, then I say Alexas ask simple commands to open/close Garage door comes in very handy with my Echo Auto
I was able to open my garage door with Android Auto via the $20 no name amazon wifi garage opener. So now I dont have to reach for my phone to open the garage I just push a button on my stereo. Can Chamberlin do that?....without paying an extra subscription?
Tailwind is insanely underrated and under reviewed in the smart home community, which bewilders me considering it can retrofit to ANY garage and has full first party support on every smart home platform
I have the exact opener with the single light. But when press the learn button, nothing happens. There is no beep sound, no blinking LED. What is wrong here?
Is there a way to turn off the beeping when closing the garage door? Am quite disappointed that we no longer use Google to close and open our garage doors
I didn't know the Google Assistant integration had been dropped. I still have access to it too but, like you, never use it because it's such a poor [indirect] integration anyway.
Something isn’t right, i have a myq liftmaster but no serial number that is 10 digits. I cannot find the signal in the app, the ceiling mounted system doesn’t beep and turn blue when the learn button is pressed 3 times, and the wall remote doesn’t trigger the system to beep when the remote learn button is pressed. I think myq doesn’t mean you can use an app, there must be something else needed. Anyone help? It clearly says myq on my ceiling mounted system
Got a new router it won't connect .Reset opener to factory. Followed all instructions. Still won't connect. Tried 10 times no go. Bought camera to see door great but can't operate door remotely..
The beeping is annoying. It would suck for people like my cousin who bed is directly at above the garage and my uncle goes to work at 5 am. They dont have this system but I could see him LOVING this at 5 am when he is sleeping lol.
Why would you want to turn on the opener light from your phone you're not going to be home when you use your smartphone turning on the opener lights only makes sense if you're in your garage
I guess I mainly would want that so it could be integrated into my other smart home platforms. So I open the house door to the garage (with a sensor) and it could automatically turn on the light if I am not openin the garage.
Bah! No way to open the garage door without getting your phone our, opening app, and then press the open door button. What a PAIN. How about google assistant integration? Just no way to open the garage door without manually futzing with your phone.
Thanks for the instructions. Quick and easy, with NO stupid music playing in background.

What is the model number of your wall buttons? Why do they have a QR Code?

I'm glad it has sort of been working. Running a wired network access point out there would certainly help those issues but that does take some work.

I needed to see how you connected the second garage door as I'm having problems to connect the second garage door.
I have the same issue. It will not creat another garage door on the app 🤷🏻♂️

Sorry to hear of the troubles. They do have some funny subscription options and that is weird to hear it is that way for events.
I have the opener on my phone. Now, I would like to add it to my car. 2020 Camryn XLE. How is this achieved?

That's a great idea. I need to find a good app for all that.
Does not work with Android. Requires subscription. I'm tired of everyone wanting a monthly fee of some sort. Robbery.
It works with Android and does not require a subscription
I just did it on my android phone. No subscription as been requested
Yeah, Chamberlain is a joke.
The app is free. Not sure what device you’re setting up.

Hm, unlike some other commenters, mine I installed works great! Which I was surprised by since our home was built in 2001.
That's great news!
Tailwind is another offering for those interested. We're incredibly happy with ours and integrates perfectly into GH.
Tailwind is insanely underrated and under reviewed in the smart home community, which bewilders me considering it can retrofit to ANY garage and has full first party support on every smart home platform
TRUST ME THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO ON THE MYQ. Which is a great System.
I was bummed that I couldn't get mine connected with Google assistant.
Before it use to be a monthly subscription to use it so maybe that is why they go rid of it.
Same. I'm combing through the comments trying to find a workaround.

There is not unless you know what to look for on the circuit board...
When i find the device and click on it, nothing happens, and then a message will appear to contact the dealer.
We have these in our apartment. I’m 3 floors up and the apartment said they are not setting up WiFi to them. Useless

I guess that good news is that they stopped charging us for the subscription a few years back. Very weird to have a subscription like that.
@@TechWithBrett Subscription? I've never paid or been asked to pay for a subscription.
Google assistant functionality nuked as of 6/13/23
How do you kick the previous owner off. Their email is still there
Can I use it with alexa smart devices?
It does not work with Alexa. It can be set up to use with Amazon Key.

If it says MyQ on it then it is supported. I would call MyQ customer support to see if they can help.
@@TechWithBrett will do! Thanks !
Can i use google to opend/close garage door?
Sadly not anymore.
@@TechWithBrett with Alexa?
No. I'm looking at one my Meross that supports this but haven't tested yet.
@@TechWithBrett thank you friend..

That is odd. Have you gone through the factory reset options to restore and set up the device again?

Yeah, it would be nice if there was a day and night volume control. My kids rooms are connected to the garage so it would certainly wake them up.
Sure wish the camera would actually work.

I've tried hub version with two separate units. Neither would maintain a connection with a mesh wifi router located within 20 feet.
That is interesting. Was it the black or white hub?
@Tech With Brett Both were black, though slightly different in appearance.
? I have one unit I’m I able to link two Accounts on one ☝🏼
Once you add the unit to your account, you can the invite the second account by sharing the garage with them in the MyQ app.

They used to have Google Assistant but not anymore. You can also just use the remotes that come with your garage.
