I picked up the MyQ as well during prime day. I was excited for the ring integration but was slightly disappointed when I got it all set up and found that the button just launches the MyQ app. Not a huge dealbreaker, but would be nice to just do it all within the Ring app just like I can with my door locks and ring lighting.
I got this on Prime day 2020, they had a bundle deal of the day for the MyQ and a Ring indoor camera for $51 with a $30 rebate on my first amazon garage delivery using the MyQ. I love this thing and the addition of the ring indoor cam facing my garage door makes it even better. I highly recommend it! Have never had a single issue. Hope I didnt just jinx it. LOL
NICE job!! I watched 2 other videos and they didn't think to show the setup steps in the myQ app, nor spoke of the things it can/can't sync or integrate with. [The others didn't.] AND you showed what you would need to get for more functionality. Right. On. 🤙
There are videos out there that use a $2 hinge but I'm using Velcro with the door sensor so it drops out of the way when the door opens and I do not need to worry about a hinge getting dirty and hanging up or sticking and had NO maintenance! Been using for almost 2yrs now and no issues.
@@johnszatkowski6898 yeh that is true a ring sensor would tell me if open or closed too. But like you said have an option to close it when I am not home and forget to close it, it comes in handy

Ring supplied me a motion sensor in my kit that makes an audible sound when the garage door moves. Using it concert with the My Q is pretty cool, because My Q doesn’t alert you audibly if the door opens or closes. (I meant that it sounds inside the house through "Alexa" not in the garage)
The device itself makes a warning tone in the garage when it closes. It beeps for several seconds before and during close. You can also enable this for open. Also it flashes the garage light in time with the loud beeps it makes. It’s kind of annoying how loud it is and can’t disable it for close.
Nice and succinct summary. I was expecting the integration between these apps to be a bit more elaborate, but maybe they'll do that in the future. For me, I wasn't able to have the Ring app find the myQ device, despite the accounts being linked. For the myQ setup, I signed in with Amazon, maybe that's where the problem lies. Maybe there's a circular condition somewhere.

And I can set up when the garage door open/close then speak English, Vietnamese ... language via Amazon Echo or Google Home speeaker, turn on/off any light, any switch in my house, change temperature ...
Use LiveKey it’s a free app no ads and let’s you connect to Siri or Alexa easily and add geofence to your myq for auto open without having to have a subscription. I have mine setup so when I get close I can just say hey Siri open garage and it activates. It allows for shortcuts integration. The geofence is spotty
One other perk - if you are using an iPhone and have an Apple Watch, you can open and close the garage door with your watch. I use it every day when I take the dog for a walk.

Also, I want to get water sensors, a doorbell camera, an indoor camera after my tenants leave (the will plug it back in) and don't know which one's to get? Thank you.

I just installed myQ garage door opener so, was looking for options to go between ring vs myQ. Unfortunately ring cables are not long enough where I want to install and wide angle is less compared to myQ. I was wondering your thoughts on myQ camera compared to ring stickup camera for inside garage.

I'm not sure this functionality is presently still working. I have the same setup but I get an error that the myq device is not compatible. I called myq support, they said contact Alexa support (which was strange). I called Ring support. They too said contact Alexa support. I called Alexa support and told me myQ is not supported except for in garage delivery. Very frustrating that there is no support to get this functionality running.
I have a question. If you integrate MyQ with Ring, does that garage door on myQ become detected as part of the alarm system? In other words, does the alarm detect a 'breach' if the garage door is opened?
I bought one of these smart garage openers too during the same time. The biggest issue I am having is that sometimes I use my regular garage remote to open/close because it is more convenient, but it ends up messing with the sensor and the MyQ app will inaccurately show my garage being open when it is actually closed. To further add to the mix, I have a schedule that will automatically close at 9pm, one time the status was wrong and it thought the garage was open so at 9pm it automatically triggered to close, but it actually opened my garage. Did you have any problems like this?
Just a heads-up that this does not work in Canada. Unfortunately Ring &/or Chamberlain seem to think perhaps Canadians don't need all these fancy features. Or maybe it's too cold for us to operate the app properly through our gloves? Either way it's a US-only feature. Not like there's much of an integration in the first place but the arbitrary political limitation is annoying...
This isn't a Ring sensor and not being treated as such in the app. It won't trigger the alarm right now. Maybe that's something they could do in a future iteration of the software, though.
Please don't invest in camera for it. When I added it I had conflicting issue when activating the app to open the garage when the camera is synchronized with it I couldn't get the garage door to open . I have wifi 6 doing 1.2 Mbps and use a note 21 ultra . So on my end everything was ok. So I sent my camera back haven't had and problems with the myq app again. This was about 3 weeks ago maybe they have done a software update since then
around 2:04 there is thsi weird beeping noise that sounds like a toy honking or something. and it keeps happening intermittently in the background. just wanted to let you know as it was kind of distracting to your narration
So apparently you can link myQ app with simplecommands skill. And then, you can link simplecommands skill to Alexa. And now Alexa can control myQ with voice.
I have one of these. The notifications were super fast.. as in less than 30seconds. Now it's taking 15-20mins. What a joke. Bet it got a software downgrade somewhere.

Yeah but if you use geofence you can make garage door open when you arrive as well as disarm the ring alarm system. I believe this is through HomeKit.

I'm using a Ring window/door sensor on my garage door and it works well but with MyQ I can close/open when I want.

The MyQ app does it's just delayed! At least on Android. Check you MyQ settings

the only difference is you can add a schedule to have your garage close (if open) on a specific time every day.

I didn't have any issues on the one that I have. It is pretty accurate...you might have a bad tilting sensor
Check if the sensor is installed right-side up. Sounds to me it's confused about the orientation.
Why does it need access to my Amazon account? I don't want to allow drivers into my garage.
Does it show 2 garage doors in the ring app if there are two sensors?
I'm not sure and that is a good question. I might need to get a second sensor and see.
You have to click on that garage icon on dashboard to see the 2 different doors. And it does display 2 doors and their status.
