    I’ve had this installed since I got it after watching this video. So far so good! I’ve had no issues with battery life. Motion detection seems to be working just fine. My other family members and guests love having their own codes and I love being able to see who is accessing my garage. I’ve also started using Amazon Key and WOW is that cool! We are in our winter months in Wisconsin so I’ll let you know how it makes it through the next few months! So far it’s been about 30 degrees every day and no issues.

      @@GeorgeLangabeerwe’ve had ours for over a month now and the battery is on 45%. HOWEVER, the person and motion detection is off completely and the sensitivity is at the lowest…. But we have other cameras that cover that area so it works out for us. But I can see how it wouldn’t work out for others.

  • @Syiukkie
    @Syiukkie Год назад +4

    I hope they add a person only recording mode eventually, I don’t think I would use it but it’s nice to have just in case I changed my mind. With the motion sensitivity set to low, the only thing that occasionally triggers the camera is a tree nearby on a windy day but other than that it’s great! It never gets triggered by cars driving past my house (our garage is very close to the street.) I went ahead and ordered a second battery though so one of them will always be charged.

    It's now available at Costco for $39.99 (12-20-2023). George, I'm surprised you didn't discuss battery life in your video. My concerns with this device are its resistance to water and dampness, the not so great night vision quality, and battery life. I installed it 9 days ago, and it's now at 70% charge. If I keep it, I'll probably get a 2nd battery so I can quickly swap it when it needs to be charged. On a positive note, I really like the feel of the keypad and look of the device.

    Interesting product I ditched MyQ in favor of the iSmartgate Pro garage door opener in my new house(HomeKit, wired door sensors, and wired Ethernet connection) and it’s been rock solid. But I do miss my Amazon Key option from Amazon from MyQ. I do need a keypad for my garage doors and my openers are Chamberlain lol.
    But you made a great point about the door leading into your house from the garage is a vulnerability due to no one locks it. That why I put a Level Bolt on mine for peace of mind. I also made an automation if my garage door opens at a certain time while home and my security system is armed to sound an alarm through my HomePods.

    I've owned 2 of them for a couple of months for my 3 car garage.. The only way I get a strong wifi signal on it is with the garage door open. With the door closed, it shows as fair, and I can not use live view. I have an extender in my garage. My outdoor Arlo camera and 3 smart wifi bulbs outside my garage get strong signals and work perfectly. The Myq wifi receiver is just too weak.
    The battery only lasts 10 days, even when I lower the motion sensing to the lowest level.
    I think I am going back to my prior old-fashioned keypad and stick with my solar powered Arlo for motion sensing and video recording. I'm really disappointed, but what did I expect from a $50 video keypad.

I like the Meross Homekit garage door opener. It doesn't have video but I can get notifications of when it opens and closes, if left open it auto closes, at certain times of night it will close if open. I get sick of all the subscriptions for everything in life these days. Everyone wants to sucker you into paying a monthly, ever increasing just to use something you paid for. • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 месяцев назад

      There is a security screw on the bottom of keypad that secures it to the mounting plate. Remove that & then remove the keypad from the mounting plate. Next, remove the battery cover on the back & then remove the battery.

    • @BruceLeeManMythLegend
      @BruceLeeManMythLegend 8 месяцев назад

      I meant the battery itself. There was some blue plastic and I had to get a flat screwdriver to actually pull on the hard plastic to remove the batteries to charge them.

    #SilverHammerSurveillance How can I extend the life of my battery? I picked up my myQ yesterday, plugged up the battery and when the battery showed green, I left it on the kitchen table. Within about two hours, I was down 30%. Your thoughts?
    I must say, it was easy to set up.

      I made a few shorts on this camera since this initial video. The battery life has made this camera worthless. MyQ reached out to me when they saw my follow up videos & told me they’d fix it with firmware. It’s been months now that still hasn’t happened.

      Where? I'm on the main screen and the only action I have is to view the live feed. There's no option to open/close the garage door. I am, however, able to get out of the car and type in the code by hand and open/close that way.

    This is a great idea but horrible design.
    The battery life is horrible with no other option for power source. Without the subscription, it is basically just a fancy keypad.
    This could have dominated the market, had they offered other power sources and atleast offer free alerts/video wothout cloud storage.
    Based on customer service - they have no plan to rectify the shortfalls. Sounds really odd coming from one of the largest garage door opener manufacturer in the world.

    I’ve had my key keypad to open my garage for 10 days with today’s technology. Why is there battery so lousy after 10 days and normal use it’s telling me I have to recharge the battery it’s down to less than 30%. I have security systems with lithium batteries that last two years and I get more time on them than I did on the MyQuest keypad for the garage, I would not recommend this product that if after every 10 days you have to pull it apart to charge the battery what is the point in having if you’re away on vacation, you’re telling me that the keypadwill die out during that time. This is not acceptable at this time to pay $100 for a keypad. The battery charge is only less than 10 days is a joke.
