Horrible battery life. This keypads battery lasts only about 3 weeks. And then it takes almost 24hrs to fully recharge the battery. MyQ's solution? Buy a second battery and swap out every two weeks. This is a poorly implemented device without an option to power directly with a 5V adapter. I'm going to try and hack this so that I can power directly with 5VDC.
Eventhough this didn't work out for you, this was a well done video and informative. A little quick background, (most) garage door openers made prior to 1993 use a single frequency, making them less secure and honestly pretty easy to infiltrate. That said, the "mistake" you made is common for owners of a pre-1993 garage opener. And I can almost guarantee that you won't make that mistake again.
Sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you brother. But I just bought my 4th one for my garages I love it it is amazing! It is worth you buying a new opener
Just connected mine and it went seamlessly with my Raynor (Liftmaster) MyQ opener. My setup skipped the entire "colored wires" section you displayed and simply connected after about a minute of blinking. Seems to be working, I'm looking for guidance with actually using the call button, two-way communications and motion detection/playback features, as the "manual" provides ZERO "how to." My current problem is the volume on it's speaker is so extremely quiet that the outside user would have to put their ear against it to hear me speak to them (I hear them fine on the phone app). I don't find any volume control -- any ideas?
I'm not familiar with any volume control either, that's strange I wonder why the volume is so low, there must be a software option to adjust, I don't remember seeing it though.
Garage door motor is compatible with the my garage sensor and hub (another MyQ products that tells you if your garage was left open or closed) but not compatible with video keypad.
Does this keypad have all the features of the myQ garage door opener? Or will I need to purchase the garage door opener to be able to open my door from my phone in my car?
Great video! I'm sorry to hear the Keypad was not compatible with your unit. Question: do you need to pay for a Smart Keypad subscription? You only need the Smart Keypad, not another Hub or device, right?
I made the same mistake, but I thought it was covered. The web page said it also worked with a MyQ Smart Control Hub. My thought was that since the hub controls my door, the keypad ought to be able to tell the hub to open, similar to what happens when I hit the open/close button on the iPhone app. Seems like this could have been easily done, but no.
Plus the battery life is absolutely horrible. Just installed last week and battery is already at 39%. They have to do way better than that. The camera is nice but I’m not about to be taking the unit off ever two weeks or so to charge it. That’s nuts
I have an ancient garage door opener that I paired with the MyQ hub. The good news is that you can set it up so you can do that. I just installed mine today and after fiddling to try to get the keypad to "learn," I ended up setting up the keypad choosing Other [manufacturer]. (Clarification: In the set-up process, the app will ask if you have a Chamberlain, Liftmaster, etc. or other. If you choose this one, it tries to treat the keypad like a remote. If you choose Other, and you already had a MyQ hub installed, it'll pair it with the MyQ Hub, and you bypass the "learn" step.) And voila, the keypad uses the wifi to open and close my garage door via MyQ Hub. Hope that helps!
I can't get it to connect to the wifi. Called support and they said it was my ISP. LOL. I've tried opening every/all ports with no luck. This device isn't ready for prime time.
Good question, so the video keypad is rated IP55 which means it has limited protection from dust and water. In my opinion that should be sufficient for rain or showers.
Doesn't work. Very frustrating. I have a My Q chamberlain garage door opener and this will setup and work once and then wont control anything. Maybe a firmware will fix, but don't buy it. It doesn't freaking work.
My wife got me this for Christmas. She bought it in Oct. didn’t find out till Christmas Day that our garage door opener (Legacy) wasn’t compatible. Missed the window to return it, now we have a small white brick. Bummer.
My across the street neighbor has it I hit it with the flipper zero and drove him crazy yeah and easy to break into it's connected to Wi-Fi The Flipper zero does the trick every time
This garage [wifi] opener is undoubtedly the worst garage door opener made. No directions included, need to recharge battery, however, they do not provide a wall charger with the cable. DO NOT BY THIS LOUST PRODUCT! Am returning to Amazon!
Do you own a MyQ Garage Video Keypad that was compatible, if so please let me know how your experience was and if it was worth buying ?
Love this video, thanks for the heads up! I am going to share your video with my son to make sure I don't order the wrong keypad.
You just saved everyone time and money. Thank you. A lot!
Absolutely, happy to help!

Is this MyQ compatible with Genie garage door opener?
I am wondering if tou can use it as a regular door bell camera.
Why not keep the keypad you already have and add a Blink or Ring or any other brand camera you might already have nearby ?
My concern is if it works when your wifi is down. My internet went out and my daughter couldn't open the door with the MyQ app.
Sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you brother. But I just bought my 4th one for my garages I love it it is amazing! It is worth you buying a new opener
I've heard feedback about battery life, how's your experience been ?
Great video. I have a lift master from 2014 so I'm getting this and the wifi opener for my phone
That's awesome
No direct wiring ?? Ummmm I’m out

The fact that this must be recharged almost every 2 weeks is a major pain.
I’ve heard it needs to be charged once every 3 months if you have a new battery, wonder how often it needs to be charged with a degraded battery
So your garage door opener is compatible with the MyQ app but not with the MyQ Video Keypad?
Garage door motor is compatible with the my garage sensor and hub (another MyQ products that tells you if your garage was left open or closed) but not compatible with video keypad.
Does this keypad have all the features of the myQ garage door opener? Or will I need to purchase the garage door opener to be able to open my door from my phone in my car?
I believe for remote control via car you still need a separate controller, this is like just a camera with a keypad for manual access
You have to add a receiver that can make it compatible with any garage door and any commercial motor gate slide motor gate. Receiver model 850LM
You will have to do some wiring on the receiver and the garage motor. Also wire a power supply to the 850LM RECEIVER
Good feedback, thanks
So I can connect the 850LM to my Genie opener and then pair the video keypad to that?
Can you use one video keypad with two garage door openers? If so, I assume you will have two PIN codes, one for each door.
I seen another review where it said you can only control one garage door per unit.
Thank you
Great video! I'm sorry to hear the Keypad was not compatible with your unit. Question: do you need to pay for a Smart Keypad subscription? You only need the Smart Keypad, not another Hub or device, right?
The keypad works stand alone and doesn’t need another device
Chamberlain has a myq interface that may work in your situation.
I made the same mistake, but I thought it was covered. The web page said it also worked with a MyQ Smart Control Hub. I was so excited about it, hopefully it’s just a firmware update and it begins working!
Plus the battery life is absolutely horrible. Just installed last week and battery is already at 39%. They have to do way better than that. The camera is nice but I’m not about to be taking the unit off ever two weeks or so to charge it. That’s nuts

Can one of them control 2 garages or do I need 1 keypad per garage door
For only 1 door per camera keypad
I would not have gotten it if I knew that it cost so much for the subscription
Do you think this will work with an electric gate?
I’m sure it will 100%
I want to change my wifi connection on mine . How do I do that ?
You might have to reset it to do the WiFi connection but there must be an easier way, is there an option in the app ?
I can't get it to connect to the wifi. Called support and they said it was my ISP. LOL. I've tried opening every/all ports with no luck. This device isn't ready for prime time.
That's interesting, is it the range that is causing the issue for WiFi or just connectivity in general.
You’ll need to isolate the 2.4Ghz signal from the 5Ghz if your router is using dual/smart connect feature. Then connect to the 2.4 GHz signal.
I couldn't get my opener working until I forced encryption to WPA only, maybe it doesn't like mixed
What brand garage open you have boss?
Odyssey 1000, Model 7030
Mr Asher, is it weatherproof?
Good question, so the video keypad is rated IP55 which means it has limited protection from dust and water. In my opinion that should be sufficient for rain or showers.

Question sir. Can it be hard wired ?
No terminals on back for hard wiring, it’s all through wireless frequency.
This is the main reason I will NOT be buying one. I can deal with a subscription but having to go charge up the battery all the time... NOPE
Horrible battery life, don’t waste your money, no one wants to unscrew this thing and recharge every week, definitely not worth it..
They have updated and the battery life has been a lot better. It lasts the same time as ring doorbell for me
@@khaalidlatifi6804And how long is that?
Just upgrade to a side mount motor, than u can use ur key pad and ur garage will look 1000 times nicer
I’ve seen the side mount motors, they look really nice
My wife got me this for Christmas. She bought it in Oct. didn’t find out till Christmas Day that our garage door opener (Legacy) wasn’t compatible. Missed the window to return it, now we have a small white brick. Bummer.
I like but it keeps going offline
Yes, you would probably need to make sure you’re router has a big coverage area!
My across the street neighbor has it I hit it with the flipper zero and drove him crazy yeah and easy to break into it's connected to Wi-Fi The Flipper zero does the trick every time
FIRST! ❤
