The Britsh countryside is something to behold. Love your heartfelt journeys and looking forward to the next one plus a fly tying video of that wee yellow fly. Thanks from down-under in NZ.
Michael, you are most welcome pal, I was so pleased you picked that fish up in the end. It was a really difficult day in tough conditions. I think many will have struggled today.
Shared to my group Lindsay. Used to fish there all the time when I lived in Bramley near Guildford . Can be very hard I’m hot weather . buzzers used to do the trick back then . 👍👍 invited you to the group also . 👍
Geez Lindsay a bloody cooker of a day, you not only survived but you got some great fish. Initially when the video opened I was looking at a well groomed are with a mirror finish on the water. Sun high in the sky, tons of heat. You would be hard pressed to find harder conditions to fish. You kept at it and found a formula, I hope everybody noticed that. The little breeze you got probably helped give the trout a bit of refracted cover but the surface temperature was probably still pretty warm, you solved that by hanging a Blob under an indicator, well done, they could feed at depth and stay cool. So I applaud you and hereby forgive you for causing me to purchase more stuff! 😂🤣 Sorry I'm Canadian I talk to much. So Lindsay with the Blob, I assume it is an attractor fly? I always thought they needed to be retrieved fairly quickly but I see obviously not I have watched several Competition videos, where the Blob is cast a good distance then the rod is put down and s hand over hand fast retrieve is done, like really fast. Is this meant to trigger the bite by not giving the fish enough time to think, just give a predatory response? Thanks again Sir, your video work is some of my favorite stuff out there and oh! (Just when the Canadian appeared to be winding down) what would a membership or fee be to fish at such a place?
Hi Kerry, yes it was extremely hot, but where there is a will there is a way. Blobs have been traditionally if I can use that word been fished as attractor patterns at speed. They can be effective in so many other ways and the addition of a foam arse makes it an ideal pattern for the washing line. "I have watched several Competition videos, where the Blob is cast a good distance then the rod is put down and s hand over hand fast retrieve is done, like really fast. Is this meant to trigger the bite by not giving the fish enough time to think, just give a predatory response?" This is referred to here in the UK as the roly poly retrieve it is lethal on its day. I often find its when you stop the retrieve and hang the flies that the takes come. James I always carry two sets I have copper bi-focals for every day use I use the Costa 580p. In the winter though when it often never gets properly light I use a Costa Sunrise which is a yellow lens and can brighten up your view. They don't do the Sunrise lens in bi-focal though and I have to use flip down magnifiers. I am not keen on this as they are quite heavy. Hope that helps.
@@lindsayiflyfish I did have a pair of Costa glasses, up until last year. They were stolen off my head on the bus coming home from Pennine Trout Fishery. I'll try the copper thanks alot and try to remember to keep them safe.
@@lindsayiflyfish two hundred quid down the swanny. I'll admit as well that it knocked my confidence and catch rate went straight down. Funny how we take things for granted lol.
Sorry to say fishing a weighted suspended blob and bung indicator is not fly fishing to me, its more akin to float fishing . You may well catch more but is that the main object of fly fishing?
Colin, each to his own my friend. For me there is a lot more to Fly Fishing than just catching fish. I only wish to share different ways of enjoying it, everyone is entitled to fish in the manner which they most enjoy and I respect that. Thanks for watching. Could you show more how you rig and fish with a blob and bong. I´ve tried to fish with it but it´s not working for me. Keep up the good work Lindsay!!
I certainly can pal, it is quite an emotive subject some folks like it others are not so keen.
