Funny made something similar myself for pike in a bigger size. The offset hooks work well there too. Have the feeling also they hook better and also the fly swims a bit differently more lively maybe. And yeah less snags ofc :)
This works great for the salty ponds full of ancient cutthroats, as well as small jaw bass. The float & fly rig is very popular here for targeting any species that will take a bait fish
I find the best results fishing with a paternoster rig. Suspend your bait, sorry fly at mid depth while periodically adding ground bait. Deadly fly choice would be a black booby with a lobworm and sweetcorn cocktail. 😊
