Hi Pedro! We love the canal when we target Togs! Just curious, do you go there early in the morning for the bites or just to save a good spot? It gets really crowded on weekends.
Hey this is Pedro thanks for watching and on the weekends it depends you can get there very early and get a good spot or you can see when slack tide is and get there an hour before the slack tide for this video we arrived in the early afternoon.
@@KEPTIFISHING if you fish the canal often enough you'll learn where eddies form during the strongest stages of the tide. You can get away using lighter jigs/sinkers when fishing those eddies, Eddies form in different locations in the canal depending on if it's an incoming or outgoing tide. Blackfish. like all other fish like eddies because they don't exert as much energy as they would have to if they stayed in a strong current.
Great job on your outing. Glad to see you and your dad bonding catching fish.
Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the kind comment.

Thanks and thanks for watching!!
i usually take off the legs on the crabs but gonna have to leave them on and give it a shot that way. Great vid and tips.
Thanks for watching and definitely try that some times they like it with the legs off or on
That’s a lot of crabs you guys bought, we’re they on sale ? How much is a dozen this days, when I use to fish for them it was $6 a dozen (in 2018)
@@alexp.9896 they are $6 a dozen still and we bought a half a bushel so that’s why we had a lot of them
@ could you guys share the name of the bait shop where you guys buy it from. Thanks
@@alexp.9896 we purchased them from true world tackle in Bayonne

Just walk away from access points if you can...more than enough room
The entire length of the canal on both sides are "good spots". Stage of the tide is more important then your spot.
@Skolmann yes that’s true if you have a good ride and find deeper hole you will catch fish

Next time do not release those crabs back into the wild because they’re invasive
Thanks for your concern but all of those crabs were dead so all of those crabs were dead and the current breaks up the crabs as well
@@KEPTIFISHING didn’t even notice sorry I also hope that you come to the ward Melville fishing show this year you were the one who gave me the rags
@@KEPTIFISHING I’m one of the kids in the fishing club so I hope to see you there soon in January for striped bass day
Oh awesome thanks for watching and hope to see you there for striper day
