I have visited El Salvador twice last year and i really love how friendly and welcoming the locals are, I felt happy and relaxed during my time there as supposed my rat race and miserable life here in Toronto. I am in my late 40s and I am considering of retiring early there. I just need to make a strategic planning. I hope it will happen soon. X
We visited here last year too for 3 weeks, that was our scouting trip to decide to move here. We moved here even before our motel has sold in Canada and I retired early to get here. We just really had to get out of Canada before our children's lives were ruined forever. Just a week or so ago a 16 year old trans boy killed a 15 year old boy in the small town (9000 people) where my 15 year old was going to school last year. The western world has gone crazy. That is not happening here. We live in a medium sized gated community and my kids are gone each day after our home schooling and they come back sometime around dinner. I have no worries or concerns for them being outside. This is just how it was when I was growing up in the 80's in Canada. Canada has changed a lot since then and it just isn't safe anymore.
I'm in the same dilemma. Here are some of my reflections. Although I love Canada this is a country that opened its doors fully and completely wide for me in every sense of the word for me to thrive in whatever path I choose, I have a great job and a great family, and I can truly say this is a blessing from the almighty. The situation is far different from when most of us left El Salvador; I have heard that the new American dream is in El Salvador, and we certainly pay a high price for it. I will say try for a few months living there experience the life and the cost of living then make a decision" ( the rat race has worn me a bit too, lol)
@@hagenaarsfamily I heard what you said, it has changed a lot (at least) in the last 6-8 year. Everyday is a constant struggle, going to work taking the TTC, the scene on the street with all the homelessness, drug addiction, mental health crisis, high rent and skyrocketing gocery costs. I am retail sales manager for a wine and spirits chain. The daily theft i have to deal with is driving me crazy, the fact that people are allowed to steal almost evryday without a consecquence is beyond me. Police won't even entertain our report. Really frustrating. We need a compassionate government but also tough on crimes. I am not sure if you heard the car theft crisis in Toronto. My friend lost his car and the police won't even investigate it. Recently, a young male was going to work, before he even get in to his car, 3 young thieves waited for him outside his house, they stole his car, he fought back and accidentally stabbed one of the thieves, sadly one of the thieves that was stabbed was pronnounced dead at the hospital was a minor. These are the kind of news we are hearing quite often recently. It's really a sad state for the country and it is only getting worse. That's why i wanna get out of this situation before it's top late.
@@tenestetubo The politics and laws in Canada have made it unsafe for me to raise my kids there, we could never go back until all of those laws have been repealed. Canada is not safe for Christians or people with traditional family values under Trudeau. Maybe that will change a bit next election but unless Trump has a greater influence over our next leader in Canada than it will still not be safe enough. Plus there is a lot of good that we can do here with our knowledge and resources.
A big greeting to you. I like that you speak well of my country. I am from El Salvador and yes it is true, as you yourself have said, a change is never bad. I totally agree, I will be making more of these videos as there are so many great things to share with the world about this country, I want everyone to understand how transformed it is and if we can bring some tourists here or investors then it would make the whole country even better. There are a lot of RUclipsrs here and we are all saying these things, we all want the world to know that this is no longer the murder capital of the world!
Great video, and encouraging! El Salvador is living a new era, more secured and with lots of opportunities! Hope you and your family enjoy living there. I left El Salvador in 1991 to Maryland/Virginia, but I always enjoy coming back to visit, and hoping soon I will stay for longer periods of time.
@@sandirapido4981 Yeah that was a stock photo for celebrating Halloween and that is one thing that is not done here but I didn't explicitly say that in the video. Although in our neighbourhood, in Lourdes, there were kids going around on October 31 looking for candy and they invited my kids to come with them. But they were told by many people to come back on Nov 1 and they would have candy and that is what they did. They ended up with a LOT of candy. We'll still have candy for Christmas at this rate.
I would like to be a part of humanity that's working at being the best. Also a place that isn't trying to legalize deviance. Sounds like El Salvadors Presidente Buccle has got it right.
Thank you so much for loving our country, El Salvador the smallest country in Central America, I was born in El Salvador but I moved to Los Ángeles California 35 years ago , I hope one day I move back to live there , thanks again for all the love for El Salvador ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Yes! I'm ready to come check it all out! The more I learn about El Salvador the more I want to pack up and go. I've heard of many programs President Bukele has announced for digital nomads, volcano bonds and even 5,000 free citizenships with low or no taxes for Bitcoin City. Thank you for posting the video I am looking forward to more.
I was born in El Salvador, 1966. I have lived in Canada since 1985. I live in Toronto. I'm planning to go back to Live in El Salvador probably next year. (This year i have visited ES 4 times). I can tell you I live in the best country in the world right now right now. I LOVE CANADA......But I love El Salvador's weather. Canada is not perfect, I would never complain about this country.
I hope you and your family are doing well! We’re planning to move to El Salvador hopefully within two years. We have accomplished quite a few milestones, such as buying a house and we’re about to buy a car, actually this weekend. We are taking a flight on Saturday morning to El Salvador. Also, there are few other things left to do but once we achieve our goals we will start the transition. I am from the US by the way.
That is awesome. We haven't bought a car yet, we here it can be daunting and we are waiting for our place to sell in Ontario first. Also driving here is next level! I hope that you have a reputable seller and a lawyer as I hear that buying a car is a an easy way for us expats to get scammed. How long are you staying this trip?
@@hagenaarsfamily haha yeah really!!. We’re staying for three days, we’re coming back on Tuesday morning. I get to travel pretty often and most of my trips are for a short period of time. However, I do enjoy my house, It is a very lovely place. It’s a gated community in San Miguel.
Hi Charity, i am a new subscriber to your channel and I loved your video it's very professionally done, it's very much appreciated for the good things you've said about my country El Salvador. By the way don't mind the bad comment.
Good pub to my country and thank you very much ! ! Any person is the very wellcoming, but we as salvadorans ask to anybody coming to stay in our country only ONE THING : RESPECT and you can stay here as long you desire to stay...😔😔😔😔
El Salvador sounds and looks so promising from the reports I've seen and especially listening to the incredible president Bukele who I admire for his wisdom and tenacity. We were going to retire in Ecuador, that was the plan for years. But through the pandemic response and post years, the ambiance has turned poisonous there as it was allowed to grow so far out of hand that recovery has been a far reach. Twenty years ago it was a paradise of sorts with only moderate danger. I could totally love and thrive in El Salvador, I can tell. A county spot with some land near a small town would be sweet. It's just that now our family is entrenched here in the US, the kids having their own places with land and our eight grandchildren growing up healthily with freedom to run around outdoors and explore without needing vigilance or constant supervision. Things have been creeping toward limitations on freedoms and purchasing power, but enter the promise of the president elect with his cadre of smart and capable respectable people and we expect things could be turning around. There's even a chance of entering a golden age. But thank God the people have spoken: enough with the dumbassery! So if we get on track, it's possible we could get it together at a level comparable to El Salvador. Of course it all remains to be seen how things shake out, but for now, there's hope. Que Dios les bendiga!
Gracias, yes we are all very encouraged that Trump won the election. He is good for the whole world, well the common people, not the elites. He will have some positive effects on Canada too, maybe even bring back that pipeline deal that Biden squashed his first day in office. I pray for Trump's safety every day. And his administration picks are incredible, well except for one, but the rest all have a chip on their shoulder against government bureaucracy and that will help clean up the swamp once and for good, I have hope! I still think the dollar is heading for a crash but Trump is pro Bitcoin and so is RFK and we know that Elon is for crypto so that maybe what we need to correct the train from going off the cliff. Now Canada just has to get rid of Trudeau!
@hagenaarsfamily Oh yeah, it slipped my mind that he was a contender. I don't know.... I *think* he has a good mindset... I did find myself scratching my head a bit because he seems a little, how to say, "soft". Little Marco, he was once dubbed... It's time for people with girth and length, and good blood flow, to stand firm against the silliness that's plagued us recently! Did you see what Kevin O'Leary posted on a video here recently about Canada?
En 🇺🇸 ellos detestan los inmigrantes y en canada ya no quieren inmigrantes y como todo subio en canada todos estan huyendo de canada por el alto costo de vida
I'm from El Salvador and this girl is fallas of crap lol if you came from another country whit money of curse you can have a good life but being local you are fucked, 360 a month is just not enougth money even for a rent
One thing for fact and I'm being honest but some places there are really peaceful and even the environment it feels real ...become friends with some neighbors and your life will be a lot better ,,some gatherings are really healthy ,,most of the times people talk about the past,,gosts like sipitio,,siguanaba,,cadejo and sometimes they don't spent much money only coffee and bread and it feels like living something undescribable.....bless❣️❣️❣️
We have some neighbours that are our friends in our complex now as well as three other complexes near by. We also have locals in Santa Tecla and Santa Elena that are our friends and soon to be business partners as well. We don't have a car yet so we rely on our friends or Uber to get us around right now. But I can't wait to go out for Christmas celebrations and activities, I hear that Christmas here is next level!
El Salvador for the most part isn’t so bad when it comes to the price you pay for goods. But there’s just one little thing that really hurts my soul specifically. The price of video games. I play a lot of video games and coming from America I know that over there the standard for a full priced AAA game is 60 US dollars. Sometimes 70 now. But over in El Salvador the prices can be 10-20 dollars higher. Gaming is already an expensive enough hobby in the states but it is even more so in El Salvador. I vividly remember going to a electronic store in El Salvador and being absolutely stunned by the prices of games there. For example, Mortal Kombat 1 for the PS5 is $70 (USD) in America, but it was *80* in El Salvador. $80 for a video game is absolutely ridiculous. But not unexpected given that El Salvador is a lot more modest in population and size so most of these big companies like Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft don’t officially support El Salvador. I know that most of the people watching this aren’t gamers but this is definitely a pet peeve of mine. I say this mostly for any parents who have kids that enjoy playing games on console and they wanna move to El Salvador. You need to know that the prices of video games are absolutely insane. And i didn’t even mention the prices of the consoles themselves. I mean, a thousand dollars for the steam deck is just….ludicrous
Don't forget to learn Spanish it's the first thing That I was told from a friend ( native American) when I arrived in LA, 44 YEARS AGO. HE TOLD ME IF YOU WANT TO GETIN TO THE AMERICAN SYSTEM. YOU HAS TO LEARN ENGLISH.( I love Playa el cuco, I was born nearby)
Yes I have been learning Spanish for over 2 years now, but being in the country takes it to the next level. Everyone else in my family needs to catch up to me.
Hey charity!! Great job making the move! My wife, daughter, and I are coming to el salvador from BC this April!! Just curious how much the seacan of your belongings costed you guys, and if you still think it was worth it Either way, great job, keep the videos going, maybe we will see you down there!!
I will do a whole video on the shipping container soon, once we get it, so I can tell you all the good and hopefully there won't be any bad, but that is yet to be found out. We really wanted to bring our Freeze Dryer and that was a big reason to get the shipping container in the first place. So far it has cost us roughly $12,100 USD so far but we don't know how much for import tax yet. Our freeze Dryer was about $6000 CAD new so that was a driving force to have this container.
I'm from el salvador beautiful country the only problem is no too much money to live there is because I have to move to usa but the people is very friendly with people come from another country's
It is true, El Salvador is recovering from years of corrupt politicians taking the wealth of this beautiful country for themselves, this is what our local friends have told us over the last year, so this is not my opinion. Now this wonderful country has a real chance, under Bukele, to bring the wealth back to the people and to grow this country into a great tourist spot so that more money can enter El Salvador helping to increase the profits for the local small businesses. That is the direction that we are heading in and we hope to share more wth you guys in the future.
Hello! Thanks for sharing your good points of view... and welcome to my bitcoin country... I hope you enjoy living and keep thriving here in this tropical paradise 🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻🤠 NEW Subscriber!! Blessings!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I would like to know how the water quality is there? Obviously, they sell bottled water like anywhere else, but I am curious about the well water and tap water? I am just starting to look at central America, and water is crucial to life. I also just want to find a small apartment that is in a small town with lots of city parks
From what I understand, corrupt countries, like Canada, came here to mine in the past and had disturbed the water table causing the table to be filled with elements like arsenic. Therefore you definitely need a water filter on your tap or household water in order to drink it. We buy bottled water, $2.85 for a 5 gallon jug, in our complex. He comes by 3 times a week and we leave the bottles in front of our house with a Ziploc bag hanging from the bottle with the money in it. We seem to have plenty of water for cleaning and watering plants etc.
Do you have more info about homeschooling in El Salvador ? I homeschool my children here in Texas but I want to know if it’s doable and how it works in El Salvador.
Yes homeschooling is legal here. My friends are doing it here too but I don’t know how it all ends with grade 12 yet. Actually I think they only go to grade 11, that is what one school told me.
I can bet you won't see the getto that exist in the US, like fast food restaurants where employees get assaulted physically or verbally because their food is cold or it took to long, or people jumping over the counter to rob, one quest. When retired you get your check through mail or bank deposit, which I don't know which bank connects from state to El salv.
I still have my Canadian bank account and I can move money into a bank account here, once I get one, through my bank, which is expensive, or through Wise money transfers, I have used them once or the best is through buying Bitcoin and just using it here or withdrawing USD from the Chivo bank machines. This turns my Bitcoin into cash.
Hello fellow Canadian! I was wondering where you guys settle, if I may ask. ( do you rent a place or bought a land/ house?) And how was your transitioning from moving from Canada to El Salvador? Thank you
We are renting right now in a gated community in Bosques de Lourdes. I have a video of our house hunting trip. Also my Proverbs 31:10-31 video is a bit of a tour if you want to see our house inside more. We are settling in well. Still waiting for our property in Ontario to sell so we have the money to buy here. Today it was rainy all day which is the first time in nearly 3 months that we had a day that was cloudy and rainy all day long. I am actually on the sofa with a fleece blanket around me, I must have adapted to the heat as I feel cool at 20 degrees now! LOL
Most Canadians use KIJIJI or facebook marketplace if they are looking for rentals long distance. Otherwise if you were thinking of going to Ottawa for example, go a search for "ottawa apartment or house rental". There maybe local classified in local papers as well as property management companies that come up in your search.
Yes we brought 3 cats. We had a company ship our stuff with a shipping container. Keep watching this channel as I will be doing a whole bunch of videos on the shipping container experience!
Hi Thank you for love el Salvador, I live in canada Ironiclly I' don't Speak Englesh nor Frech afortunately the people whom I work they Undestan me by Sings,😆 I live in Quebec, but I wanna return to El Salvador, to Retired Canada is Beautiful but need a lot of money to live.........Welcome to El Salvador...🤝
Si Canada es muy caro para vivir. El Salvador tiene mejor clima y la cuenta de comida is barato que Canada. Yo estoy aprendido Espanol y esta muy divertido. Mis hijos les encanta nuestro barrio porque hay muchos niños con jugar.
A few things you said are true. But you must be living near the US Embassy. I have been living here for six months in the countryside doing a couple agricultural projects. Nice people, great President, some good pupusas. But there is a lot of poverty and you failed to mention the one thing that grabs you as you travel in Ek Salvador: the incredible amount of basura or garbage that people just dump everywhere.
We are in Lourdes and since we don't have a car right now we just get an Uber to do the shopping every week or so. Here we mostly have construction but I have been driven through areas of great poverty and lots of garbage a few times. I think the garbage will be dealt with over time as people get help from the government to deal with it and when they take more pride in what this country has become. Maybe Bukele will send out prisoners to clean it up too, who knows. In Canada we have different garbage, people pooping on the streets and leaving needles around. You need to put it all in perspective. As for poverty, we are hoping to add to the economy to help combat that problem.
We are starting 2 businesses. We are waiting for our motel to sell in Canada and we'll buy a hotel here. We are also starting a business with 2 local couples here. And I have my pension money from my job that I retired/quit from.
If you have money ES could be a place if you dont, dont even think about, ES is expensive. Health care is better in Canada unles you can buy private in ES
@@hagenaarsfamily I've seen videos of people complaining about crowded hospitals, there is not enough doctors for the patients, the hospitals don't have medicines, the hospitals are in bad shape, it takes a long time to see a doctors, etc. of course if you have money you can go to a private hospital and there you'll treated well, but you have to pay. El Salvador is becoming a country for people who can afford it.
@@jorgecampos868 At first I thought that you were talking about Canada. Canada has crowded hospitals and it takes hours to see a doctor in the ER. And good luck getting a family doctor. I made a whole video on the horrible healthcare in Canada ruclips.net/video/FVWzRYXynf8/видео.html. We are starting a business here and we hope that it will make healthcare in El Salvador more affordable and accessible also to everyone.
I'm from El Salvador I live in California at the moment. I think something you really need to consider that for me living in California $1000 a month is very cheap. but for a lot of people living in El Salvador $ 1000 is a lot of money... so how are you going to make money ????is the most important Question you need to ask !!??
I retired early so I have a small pension but we are starting 2 businesses here and we hope to be able to provide jobs to locals. God always provides for us so I have no fear.
That is very true, that is one of our number one reasons to move here in particular. Lots of people left Canada and went to Mexica, Nicaragua or Costa Rica. El Salvador is safer than those countries.
I'll be buying locally. I won't do to E.S. what big chain stores and foreign investors did to western Canada.... they outpriced local shops & shut them down. Foreign funds drove up real estate & we locals couldn't afford to buy homes unless we were rich. It created a lot of problems that have never been repaired in Canada. Bank house mortgages are insane if you qualify. Please El Salvado people... address your politicians before it's too late for you.
There is definitely still lots of poverty here, you will see people selling you products while you are stuck in traffic, or have a little fruit stands on the side of the road. There is still a lot that we can do here to address that. The main difference here is the family and community culture. In Canada there are homeless tent encampments where there are drugs and violence. That is something that I haven't see here at all. You can watch Murphslife RUclips channel, he speaks more on this topic as he has a foundation to help impoverished people, seniors and orphans. Our focus will be on the abused and pregnant girls. We want to supply these single moms with a well paying job and provide them with child care so that they can build a new life for themselves and feel empowered.
@hagenaarsfamily yes u coming from Canada country with many opportunities health system different here in el salvador if u have money you have money u can go a private hospital or clinics but if u are poor public hospital where is not medication salary minimum 365 in el salvador in Canada different depending of the skills or if u are a doctor yes the taxes are different but that the system works in don't understand u people coming to el salvador talking many wonderful things when part of the population are poor without a better quality life yes are u talking about the homeless in Canada but it's different here in el salvador lack of opportunities please be realistic and don't lie to ppl about el salvador still developing country compares to Canada
Canada has a lot of poor people as well. We have homeless encampments all over every major city and in small towns. Drug abuse is off the charts. Our healthcare system is broken and we still have to pay for our own medications as well. Even if you are lucky enough to have a home and a job, you may have to get food from a food bank. Our rights and liberties are being removed with every law that is being passed. Christians are being persecuted in Canada also, freedom of religion is being taken away. We and some others that I know have come and are still planning on coming here, are going to try and start businesses that will bring good paying jobs to the local population. We are here to help people and assimilate into the culture. We are not here to take, we are here to give. To God be the glory!
@hagenaarsfamily where in Canada? Be specifi the persecution where ? I don't see any news about that of course you have to pay for medication but no for doctor appointment I don't know why are u people lying about Canada
Everywhere in Canada there is persecution against Christians. If you are watching the mainstream media then you have your head in the sand. Canada has changed a lot and the current government has taken away so many of our rights. If you don't see it then you are likely part of the problem with the country. Sorry.
You need to watch my series "They are lying to you" . My second video in that series will come out this weekend and it is specific to taxes on pay checks, you'll want to see it.
@@andresiniesta5982 did you forget about taxes and the high cost of rent, utilities and groceries in Canada? Could a family of 5 live in Canada for $2000 CAD a month?
@hagenaarsfamily yes if everyone work are guys has everything in Canada I would like you go to work at the factory in el salvador making minimum wage then you will see what u mean to live in poverty because u got business u don't know what is to live with little money in el salvador you won't pay the taxes making bad financial choice for the government the don't get that income to improve quality life for the ppl in poverty be realistic el salvador it's a developing country if u have money u can live affordable live if u are poor nobody cares it how the system works

It sounded more like 10 reasons to move to El Salvador. It would be interesting to see a video about the horrible traffic jams during rush hour in San Salvador. There are some neighborhoods in San Salvador like Mejicanos or Soyapango where Uber drivers don't want to go, because it takes forever to drive in or out of those places. They lose money by sitting in traffic. Yes, Wendys, Mcdonalds, and other American stores are in El Salvador, but expect to pay the same the same prices as in the USA, since the Salvadorean currency is the U.S. dollar. A worldwide phenomenon going on right now, is that foreigners move into 3rd world countries, and immediately the cost of living goes up. Not a problem for the foreigners, because it is still very affordable, except for the locals. Locals can't afford it. Most people still earn extremely low wages. El Salvador is a beautiful country. Come visit.

@hagenaarsfamily Totally. I came back to live in El Salvador after 31 years in the USA. After three years, I am still adapting myself. Thanks.
Thank you.

Welcome to El Salvador!
Thank you so much!

Super mega like great vibes welcome to El Salvador 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes! Thank you!

Welcome to my coutry ...!! ❤

( do you rent a place or bought a land/ house?)
And how was your transitioning from moving from Canada to El Salvador?
Thank you
We are renting right now in a gated community in Bosques de Lourdes. LOL

I understand house rentals have gone extremely high lately. What would be a reliable source of data to find a reasonable housing rental option? Thanks
Most Canadians use KIJIJI or facebook marketplace if they are looking for rentals long distance. Otherwise if you were thinking of going to Ottawa for example, go a search for "ottawa apartment or house rental". There maybe local classified in local papers as well as property management companies that come up in your search.
Nice video, I’m heading there in January and will retire there. The US is not what it used to be…
Awesome
I live in Hamilton Ontario but am building a home in El Salvador....how did you ship everything and did you bring any pets?

Is it safer?
Yes!!!
Bukele just put on X that for 2024, El Salvador was safer than Canada.
What do you fo for a living,? Am from el salvador..US citizen..but want to go back home..am only 49 yrs old

You should see my video on healthcare in Canada it is not good there, it is very misleading.
We are starting 2 businesses, as well I will have my pension money since I did retire from my job.

If you have a work from Canada sure, cos you are earning a salary from there… if you have a normal work in here it would be different. 😊
I retired early so I have a small pension but we are starting 2 businesses here and we hope to be able to provide jobs to locals. God always provides for us so I have no fear.
Where in El Salvador do you live
Lourdes
You forgot to mention El Salvador is the safety country in Latin America.
That is very true, that is one of our number one reasons to move here in particular. Lots of people left Canada and went to Mexica, Nicaragua or Costa Rica. El Salvador is safer than those countries.
WRONG
I'll be buying locally. I won't do to E.S. what big chain stores and foreign investors did to western Canada.... they outpriced local shops & shut them down. Foreign funds drove up real estate & we locals couldn't afford to buy homes unless we were rich. It created a lot of problems that have never been repaired in Canada. Bank house mortgages are insane if you qualify. Please El Salvado people... address your politicians before it's too late for you.

How about the poverty

Sorry.

Come visit.
