Gini, your super power is fitting big patterns! It’s the polar opposite of what everyone else on RUclips is doing. Tina Givens is tiny and she looks amazing in the voluminous Lagenlook style. How does she do it without looking frumpy? Looking forward to seeing what you do with the fabrics from your Fairy Godmother. A sneak-a-peak would be 👍 Love the pants and going down that rabbit hole to explore a pair for me. Really like the one with the ties. ❤
May your time with your Dad be super special and memorable. 💙Thank you for the tips and showcasing your new pants. They are really cute and very close in styling to my much loved Style Arc Barry.
Great video. I have been waffling on making the Chanterelle pants and am leaning more to giving it a go. They look great on you! I think that the 'other' pattern you mentioned might be Katherine Brenne Vogue 9114. I have made 2 pairs with this pattern and LOVE them. The side drawstring is a super cool detail. I did have someone ask me once if I had put that detail in upside down. She said I couldn't use it as a pocket with it the way I had sewn it in. 🤣🤣🤣
Just a note about Cutting Line Designs. I exchanged email with Louise over a piece of fabric and she says she plans on continuing with interfacing, notions and patterns. She just can’t haul the fabric around now. So she’s not completely out of business. And I love your videos. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for letting me know Christine I will be sure to update this info in my next video and I’m relieved 😅 to know Louise will still be selling her patterns
Hi Gini, loved this video! It is just packed with instructions for altering pants. It’s always helpful and motivating to see you make muslins that don’t always work and how you hang in there until you get what you want. I think the final pants are well worth it, they are fabulous! That blue is striking on you. The red would have been fun too😊. I could definitely use the rise extension clip. I am especially long in the rise when I sit down. I have marked this video as a favorite so I can find it when I go to make another pair of pants. The pocket tutorial is just a bonus I will refer to also. How fun to have received the generous gift of fabric from Kathe. It’s always fun to get fabrics from someone else as their taste is probably a bit different than your own. I am sorry to hear about Cutting Line Designs. Thank you for the heads up. Also I’m confused, you mentioned Sandra Bettina as having tutorials on RUclips 17:34 and your link is to Sandra Bettina? I’m looking forward to your next make, it’s so fun to see the patterns you choose and make🤗. Take care and thank you again for all your wonderful instructions and just for sharing your delightful self. 😊🩷
Hi Judith! Sorry about the Sandra Betzina link I don’t know what I did there but if you put “power sewing” in the RUclips search bar she should pop up! 🤗
Oh and I heard from another viewer that Cutting line designs will continue their pattern business just not the fabrics but still… she has patterns on sale right now so it’s a good time to pick them up
This is so timely. I have this pattern and fabric ready. I also want to make the narrower bottom version. I am lazy with toiles but am persuaded to do it for these trousers. I love your finished version and your tips really helpful. Thank You. 😊 Lynne
This is SO GOOD, thank you, Gini!! I can't wait to get back to my pants and try the pockets again. And your other tutorials in this are definitely going to come in handy in the future as well. (Also, I adore your finished Chanterelles, they & the fit look great!)
Oh, thank you, Gini - you’re a wonder! I actually followed everything, and GOT it, instead of just hoping that it make more sense when I tried it. (Brain is much less stupid with knitting, honest.) I’d also made the muslin for View B, and your finished version is fantastic. Will definitely try again, more confidently now. I also love that technique for the patch pockets! I used the Chanterelle ones for a cloned version of some old M&S trousers, and they looked good in the end, but the template did not make it as easy as hoped. Having cut it out though, I might use it to draw in the basting line for your method. Have a great visit with your dad!
Thank you for this video, I bought the pattern when Sew Liberated released it and I couldn't gather the courage to do the pockets. Thank you so much for this video. EDIT: Ofc, I subscribed :)
Love those pants, they look great on you! I also purchased that pattern a couple months back, and scooped up the fitting class this week when it released. Looking forward to getting into it. You said you ended up doing a straight size 14… with the rise adjustment you showed? I think I’m the same size, and I have similar fitting issues lol! Thanks.
Dang!!! I KNEW someone would ask me that and I can’t remember! It’s an altered Tina Givens pattern from ages ago BUT you can get something pretty darn close to this with the Vivian shao Chen Lawrence top www.vivianshaochen.com/patterns/laurence-top
Oh I wish I'd seen this pattern before I wasted time on that Patchworky pant! They are now PJs and I will not be making it again! 👎 I'm wondering if this pattern is a 1 piece or 2? I have some wonderful fabric waiting to be spring/summer. Maybe Capitola? We shall see!
Thank you so much for the pocket tip. Question for you! I wear a size 10 and made the 12, but felt like they could have been bigger. You said you made a 14. Wondering what size you are normally?

Thanks Deb I will do a little “show-off” of the fabrics from Kathe also I’m not sure how Tina does it but it totally works for her

They ARE similar to the Barry for some reason I couldn’t get that one to work for me and I could never figure out exactly what it was I didn’t like 🤔

😂😂😂”upside down”! YES! That is the other pattern I found it again just recently on e bay and I’ll probably get it eventually

These are great tutorials. Sometimes they are a bit too complicated for me but these are so doable.
Thank you.
These little tweaks are so much less intimidating when you know how they work 🤗

I’m so glad this made sense for you Halle i love the idea of using that template for the stitching line now I’m glad I didn’t toss mine 😂

I ended up doing the straight size 14 with no adjustments at all! Let me know how you like that class!
What is the top you are wearing?

Any chance you have a tutorial for view A (wide-leg) pocket construction?
@@maryjomarker6788 hi Mary no plans for that at the moment but I can definitely put it on my list

Thank you so much for the pocket tip. Question for you! I wear a size 10 and made the 12, but felt like they could have been bigger. You said you made a 14. Wondering what size you are normally?
Normally a 12 so I went up one size
