    When sewing the front and back legs together, i think you could flip the deep back hem so the right side is to the back, sew the sides to encase the edges of the tulip and then flip back right way. In my head this works, seen it done for back waistbands. the hem is like an upside down waistband! so in theory the edges of the tulip bit are incased in the seam of the deep back hem. lovely video, as always x

      Pants are hard to showcase compared to blouses and dresses. But then you make them and they are great. Pants are on general less wow 😮 but necessary 😊. Thanks for watching 😊.

    Just purchased this pattern due to your informative review. I was considering Style Arc's new wide leg pant but liked the price of this one better, and am fascinated with the "control" factor.Thank you for sharing.

      The duet trousers also have this type of pocket and it’s so comfy. I’ve also seen it on some Burda magazine shorts. It’s a winner for me. The StyleArc one has one detail and that is the pleats. Pleats are usually not my friends. I’m obsessed with style arc though 😂.

    That colour suits you and I love the tulip hems. One question where do your pins go as you sew you seem to just flick them off where do they land? 🤔

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 лет назад +2

      Lol they land on the table! I then pick them up with one of my sons magnets 🧲

    Hello Karina. I've just purchased the Summer Caye pattern with it's re-release, and came across your video this morning. Could I bother you to ask what type of fabric did you use for the pocket lining? I, too, am making my pants out of linen, and I would like to line the pockets similar to how you have done it. Thank you for this video. It is very helpful.
    Edit...sorry, I listened to the entire video and learned that you used satin for the lining. Thanks again. Great video!!

    Karina, I have drafted my own Tulip jersey top which I made a few years ago. I made it in the size I was at the time which was about 24 but I can post you a copy of the pieces and you can redraft from there if you'd like to?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 лет назад +1

      Do you mean the body of the top was a tulip? Or the sleeve? I was referring to adding a tulip hem to a sleeve similar to what the pants have. I think it’s possible and would need to test on a fake sleeve with scraps 😊

    • @georgianasstudio
      @georgianasstudio 5 лет назад +1

      Lifting Pins and Needles I made a tulip sleeve hack on a Sew Over It Edie top but it’s short sleeved and the whole sleeve is the tulip petals. I’ve also drafted a layered top with a tulip back, layered front and a filled in tulip shape on the sleeve but you could leave off the filled part to create a similar look to the pants. I thought the top I drafted could be altered to be made in chiffon. I don’t mind if you want to play with what Ive done and develop something from it.

    Is your fabric a rayon linen blend? I have a cotton linen blend with a little rayon. Would it be suitable as it doesn't seem to flow like yours. I also would like to know how to make the legs a little less wide. Is there a tutorial on that?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 года назад

      Mine is 55% linen 45% rayon blend. Look for my video on the upland pants by itch to stitch. I show there how to make legs less wide, though for these pants, you would not be able to do the tulip hem if you made the legs narrower.

    Hi! Watched the technique for pocket install and finished the pants. I’m curious how I could raise the center front waistline appropriately 2” without affecting the pockets and side seams of both front and back because they land at my waistline perfectly. The pants actually are a perfect fit except for the very low cut center front on me. No tummy issues just too low cut. Thank you for any advice you may offer.

      ruclips.net/video/SS8McujXm3g/видео.html this video will show you how to adjust the Center front and back whilst keeping the sides the same.

    Just making the tulip hem and I followed your tutorial alongside the instructions. The instructions say line the tip of the tulip cuff with the hem of back and the video shows you leaving an overhang of the tulip hem (13:13 in the video). I'm not sure which one to do....any advice?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 месяца назад

      @@clumsywoman I don’t necessarily follow instructions in my videos so you should not expect that from me. I do sew things correctly for the intended result. There are many ways to sew and if you follow what I film, they’ll turn out great. see this second video I made on the hem here ruclips.net/video/PgWaTgnGrqg/видео.html there is more detail there.
