Lovely Bob pants. I have never done an elastic waist band with is method. Very good, and thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Holy cow!! Thank you so much for this tutorial ... I consider myself an advanced beginner but I could not figure some of the (very minimal) directions out. You saved my sanity a bit today!!
Thank you for this video. I'm waiting on my fabric to complete these pants. Im not crazy about the lack of directions for the pants. Style Arc should have more videos for their patterns.
The bob pant was my first ever sewing project and this video was SO HELPFUL! Just wanted to let you know and say thanks :)
Thanks so much Katie! That means a lot to me!
Just ordered my Bob pattern! I am an experienced sewer but really appreciate the preview of how this pattern works!
Hope you enjoy it!
I stopped working on these to come and watch you. I figured out everything up to the waistband. The instructions just say sew elastic to the waistband and attach it to the pants. I had never done a waistband like that and I could not figure it out. Thanks so much for the concise, clear instructions.
You're so welcome! I'm glad you found this video. 😄
I really like that you used quilting cotton. It’s easy to find, comes in amazing patterns
I totally agree!
Thankyou for sharing😊
Sure thing!
Thanks so much
Advanced beginner here still learning
Greatly appreciate your tutorial on the bobpants!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
a really good tutorial. thank you.
Thank you for this! Nice trousers.
Thank you for this!
Superb tutorial
This was a great tutorial! Thank you!
Yay I'm glad you liked it!
Great instructions and explanations! Love the way you explain!
Thank you Julie!
Great job of explaining things, Natalie!
Thank you Amy!
Thank you this tutorial was very helpful and your explanation was excellent!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for your vlog, I made a pair this week using 4 oz denim and they are perfect for this time of year. I did not have the wide elastic, just 1” so I stitched about 1/4” from folded edge of waistband and made a mock paper bag waistline. Between these and the Yanta (Helen’s Closet) overalls, it may be a draw as to my favorite!
Awesome improvising Cynthia! THe Yanta are so fun too!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much. That was very helpful. There are some parts of Stylearc patterns that I find a bit confusing 😊
Yes I understand that, thank you for watching.
This was SUPREMELY helpful! Thanks
I'm so glad it helped!
This tutorial was very helpful. Thank you!
I'm so glad, thanks Christine. :)
Great sew along! Thank you!!!
Thanks Jill!
Im just making my first pair...because I know my shape I've taken the risk of making adjustments and using the actual fabric... 😱..but just watched this, now they're nearly finished and they're great!! Thank you!
YAY! I'm so glad you're almost there!
Thanks for your great tutorial I’m going to buy the bob pant pattern and I know how minimal the instructions are ( I’ve used style arc before) so glad to see it on video. My question is on size , what size did I you make and did you adjust them at all? Thanks so much
Glad it was helpful! I think I made a 8 or 10 and they are roomy in nature.
Thanks so much! I just bought the pattern from Etsy.
Thank you!
@@SewHungryHippie you're welcome.
Thank you. Great tutorial
Thanks so much!
I'm so glad to have stumbled upon your channel! I sew too! An I also have a channel(Migo Seamwork) I can't wait to make this! Ty for this tutorial!!! I'm so excited about this make!😊✂✂✂ definitely going to try this!Looks amazing!
Thank you!
Thanks for the helpful video! This waistband was a STRUGGLE. I had to reinforce areas where the raw edge popped out of the seam by top stitching with zig zags all over the place. In the future, if I want to do the classic “fold over and insert elastic with a safety pin” method, do you think I can simply add 3-4 inches to the top of the main pant front / back pattern pieces? Then ditch the separate waistband pattern piece?
Yes you can do this, but it will be more bunchy looking - but it works. I have several pairs I did like this. Experiment with fabric you don't love (or inexpensive) and see if you like it. :D
Thank you for this tutorial! I have a great insight into the pattern now, it's such a clever twist on a staple wardrobe item. For the record, I always refer to patterns as "she" like some all knowing sewing being.. made me laugh to hear someone else doing it too ❤️
HAHA! :D Yay so funny - I didn't realize I was doing that! Glad this helped.
Interesting way to pin your pieces together.
Glad you think so!
Thank for sharing! What is the benefit of sewing the elastic down vs sewing a channel and then feeding the elastic through?
This is just a different way of doing it. The waistband is separate, so you'll need to leave a gap at the back before sewing to the pants-- insert your elastic --scrunching the waistband a bit to fit the top of the pant. Then sew to pant. It can be done, I just wanted to follow the instructions in order not to confuse people. :D
Great video; you made me want to sew these. I am a total beginner but I'm going to give it a try. Does anyone know what what the inseam measurement is? I'm short, 5 foot even and I don't want to lose the beautiful shape of the pant's legs.
I believe the inseam is listed on the pattern - but their patterns are written for an average height of 65" :)
Thank you for the tutorial. After you have pressed the pocket pieces it looks like you have gone back and too stitched them. Can you please explain that part?
Sorry. That should have said TOP stitched
May I ask how tall you are? I didn’t see a pant’s leg modification. Thanks for the tutorial.
I'm 5"4
Did you serve the inner leg seam? At what point should that be done?
Hi, thank you for the video. I'm a complete beginner and about to try these. What stitch did you use to sew the elastic to the waist band please? It doesn't look like you were doing a straight stitch.
Zig zag stitch - it stretches. Straight stitches will pop. ☺️
hi. great video, thanks! how much fabric did you use? I think they say around 1,30 metres if one "cuts two way" (not sure what they mean by this).
Thanks! I put it on the screen somewhere, in type but it's quick ---- because I was using 44" wide fabric (quilting cotton) I needed QUITE A BIT more! I used 2.5 yards and I'm 5"4 --so if you're taller you might need a bit more. :D Let me know how it goes! :D
@@SewHungryHippie indeed, then I noticed you had added the yardage within the video, apologies for that! so...I was able to cut a size 8 from 1.40 metres...but it was to the millimeter! I barely managed...and not with fabric folded, of course. Not sure how stylearc suggests 1.30 metres for this pattern. A good thing they could add would be a map of placing the pattern pieces on the fabric for cutting :) I'll proceed now in following your suggestions to build my bob pants, thanks again!
@@cl2825 I TOTALLY agree!
Hello there, I’m thinking about to by this pattern. But I would love to make it out of Sweat fabric, could this worke?
It could work but you might want to size down.
Hello. Thank you for your video! I’m working on my first Style Arc pattern (Bob Pants) and I'm kind of confused as to which of the lines I am supposed to be cutting at. I'm going with the size 20. Do I cut on the dotted line or the solid line. I can send a picture of where I'm really confused...at the hem of the pants, unless I cut the whole thing wrong?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
Beatriz
Do you see the key that shows what the size 20 line looks like? You cut on that line, all around.
@@SewHungryHippie I do see the size 20 but there are dotted lines in a size 20 and a solid line in size 20. Which one do I cut on?
@@busysewingbee3819 that could be a mistake. Email Style Arc for support- I don’t have the lines for other sizes in my printed pattern. Eeek sorry! Can you send me a photo just in case I can see what the issue is? Are you on Instagram?
@@SewHungryHippie I can send a picture. Where to?
@@SewHungryHippie I DM’d some pictures through Instagram 😁
Great video! What size did you make And how tall are you for reference? I think I will need the same size as you. Thanks!
Hi! SO sorry I missed this comment, I'm 5"4
Please tell me you have that skull quilt pattern in your Etsy store🤞🏾
I’m refreshing it- for a new updated release. It’ll be ready soon. 😄🥰
