You are FANTASTIC-experienced, clear, and gracious with your knowledge. 👏 Thank you! ❤️ Do you have thoughts on where a SHIRT should pattern match? How would you PRIORITIZE… The pocket and front placket? Shoulder seams? Side seams? Yoke? Other?
Anastasia, so I suppose you should always buy extra fabric to match those plaids. Do you have a rule of thumb to go by or tips on how much extra fabric to buy?
@@facsmom You need to order extra. There is no magic number because it depends on what kind of plaid it is & how big your patterns is & how many pattern pieces you have. Double would give you more than enough but I would probably order about half extra. So if I was using 2 yards for a dress with no plaid I would buy 3 for plaid.
Getting ready to do first plaid, a baby dress. When get ready to do piece that was on fold, do we not need to add 1/2 inch to each piece for sewing together?
So helpful, and incredibly satisfying to watch! Thank you so very much!
Glad you liked it! It's a really satisfying technique to master.

I find plaid intimidating but I do want to tackle a project because I have always loved plaid.

Excellent thank you 😊
I love plaid! But I only take the time to match the pattern on parts of the design that stand out, like the side seams on a skirt

The plaids may perfectly match but how do you determine how much fabric to purchase so you can do this?

So how would you match a plaid at the sleeve/bodice seam?
@@bellemeri8155 I would cut the bodice first & then match your sleeve to it. I would measure out points on your sewing line to match up.
Princess seam curves behave a little bit differently though. There one must allow a little discrepancy😉
Think I’ll stick to patterned and plain fabric 😅
Awww that’s no fun! lol
