    Very useful video, thanks so much! I noticed that you don’t have cages around your plants. If I do not use them, my flowers are so heavy that they droop to the ground. Peony and Ranunculus are just amazing flowers.

    • @lov3rchelle700

      I think bec she cuts them mostly and also during the marshmallow stage. I feel like the peony flower buds gets heavier when they are getting closer to blooming. Just my guess

      Thats my problem I dont use cages and they tend to bend because they're heavy so half of mine don't bloom properly 😅

    Hi Kelly - this is Terry, I live in Boise, ID and I've been growing peonies for the past 5 years, I think. In the past 3 years the peonies have developed powdery mildew...OMG I hate it, the flowers are thriving but the leaves are ugleee. At first I thought it was the lawn sprinklers, nut now I think it's the dampness in the air. I have tried fungicide spray but i dont know, the leaves look brown and spotted. Any tips?

    Kelly, if my peony leafed out and has red on the leaves, what does it mean/need? It’s been in the ground for about 3 years and flowered the second year (only 1-2 blooms), but now it just forms a couple buds and the buds don’t ever open anymore.

      So happy you are growing peonies. Sometimes they won’t flower if they are planted too deep . If there is more than and inch or two of soil over the highest eye ( the little red/brown nubs on the Tuber ) then the peony may get green leaves but no blooms . Good luck 🌸

    How do you keep pests from damaging the blooms before you cut them at marshmallow stage?

    • @KellyLehman
      @KellyLehman  Месяц назад

      I leave the ants alone since they usually don’t cause damage . They like to eat the sweet nectar in the blooms before the flowers open. Other than the ants , the don’t get too many pests . What insects are you seeing on yours ?

    I live in Georgia in zone 8a my peonies start blooming in April. Rarely do I have blooms that last past Mother's Day because the temperatures are usually in the "80's". They display their glory in two weeks and they fade & the petals fall off of the plant. Is that related to my growing zone?
