Thanks for the info. I pruned my Annabelle hydrangeas in late winter /August and took some hardwood cutting and they have all taken and most have flower buds already!!!. A big hello from Sydney,Australia 🇦🇺😁
Oh wow ! So happy to hear that . I love seeing hydrangea updates from your neck of the woods . Fascinating to learn about the growing seasons by you 👏😊
Can I take cuttings now, in zone 4, and try to grow them inside over winter. I'm afraid our growing time now is not long enough, outdoors, to get cuttings established.
Spring is the best time to do it but I do it throughout summer too . Keep them moist but not soggy . When you touch the soil around the hydrangea cuttings it should be damp to the touch but not soaked .
Absolutely love a gardener that can wear a white dress and STILL dig in the ground and NOT get dirty! I wanna be you when I grow up! Thanks for the videos. I am enjoying them.
ruclips.net/video/piiESsMPuPA/видео.htmlsi=BSiMG0hJ8YIP6-Gn I heard Panicales are much easier to grow. I want another PeeGee tree so I’m going try this tall cutting idea too
Give it a shot if it's in loose soil and maybe in shade with cloche over it to make a mini greenhouse. The worst that would happen is it wouldn't grow and wilt but from a free cutting why not experiment.
I bet it will especially since another Flower Tribe member from Sydney Australia just commented about this above - @acasburn1460 Thanks for the info. I have giant 4 blue hydrangea plants but not getting flowers but found out why last year. I was pruning it too much. So I didn't touch last season so I got butt load of flowers now... I was wondering how long it takes for these propagated hydrangeas to have blooms of their own?
After 2nd or 3rd year!! Most plants do that for me...

Is it too lat to propagate now (July 2nd)in Southern NH?
After you put them back under bush how often do you water them
Which varieties can you propagate that the patent has run out?
So when is best to do this and do you water them every day?

Will this same process work with panicle hydrangeas?

Iam from Canada Nova Scotia
I don’t know why but I really like you❤. Can you tell me if it’s not a good idea to put a hydrangea stem that’s cut straight into the ground
