You cant blame pallworld, that came out as a surprise to no1 knowledge wile enshrouded had a try out demo out over 1 month ago, people knew and know about this game but it is just BORING. I boght it and refunded it, the overall ambience of the game is borderline boring and one falls asleep compared to other games of the same kind, and for what i see on videos it is sad because there is a lot to explore but, seems like the RNG on the loot is kinda lamme and like I said the entire game feels sad, starting from the music to the world. Ok they created a new building model, got it. Even that is arguable but ok it is a terraforming world with good grafics but that alone dont sell the game, valheim its a much better deal at 10€ and a much better product. I plan to revisit tho, probably with music off xD But overall Its a game that will be forgoten quickly, iy seems.
As a solo player, it’s by far the number one survival builder games I’ve ever played. It’s hands down the best buildin, and hands down the best exploration. Go in blind and have blast
The building lacks utility. It's building for the sake of making pretty things. While the voxel style snapping is cool, I would like to make something functional. From that perspective it's not even on the map.
While I do like some aspects of this game, I prefer the building system of Valheim more. Especially the log out and everything (except within your homes) resets is something that feels a bit annoying and removes some "burden" to explore the map and gather those resources then. Not sure how this is done on dedicated servers but I guess there will be a timely reset as well, otherwise people might not be able to complete certain quests. Quest progression in a group also feels a bit odd. If someone was to far away the quest progression doesn't count and so we had to relog way more often than we would like. That certain "questitems" like i.e. the woodworkers tools you need to collect, can be farmed all over again and again is also a bit strange. We ended up with like 7 or 8 of them in the end and never had to craft them via the particular building option. In terms of combat, especially when you play as a "tank" I feel Valheim feels more responsive. You can read the ability from mobs and block at the right time. In Enshrouded even when I instantly hit block when the animation started, it was basically always a hit. Only when I blocked some milliseconds before the animation started it was a block. This makes this game IMO to a guessing game. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice and enjoyable game, but it is yet far from perfect IMO. And if you want to see a crash, just port to some location and while that hit spacebar in combination with some A, S, D, F keystrokes. This is a guaranteed crash on my end. I crashed this way to many times as someone in our group all of a sudden said "wait, there is more ..." and in an attempt to cancel the ongoing port.
While I agree with most of what you said, Valheim has a better building system out of one reason. You can adjust your structures to circles and/or better rounded shapes. Which made the buildings look way better and more natural. I hope they'll add this to Enshrouded too
this Game is so much better than Palworld.... got bored of Palworld after about 20 hours....im 20 hours in Enshrouded and it felt like I played 2 hours...when time flies like that while playing a game...its a keeper!
I was pretty much the same way😂 Mid game PalWorld got kinda boring imo. But I also was never really into Pokémon either, so that could be why I lost interest faster than most🤷♂️
but the combat? it has 3 hit animations ,it does not even have a heavy atack. It has arround 10 spells. Items have damage multipliers and thats it. Maby its a good survival game, but its not a good RPG
One other thing worth mentioning is the quest system is not friendly to multiple groups on one server and even has some problems within a group. All of the main/companion quests are completed on the server-level (as is the main progression mechanic of the Flame level), so one group completing something completes it for everyone. Side quests are a mix; if they require you to pick up an item or open a chest, they are usually completed on the player-level. This can also cause problems where one player loots a chest, and now their partner can't complete that quest without a server reload (I've found you can usually sidestep this by making sure everyone opens the chest before anyone actually loots it). The devs are working on changes to the quest system to address this.
10/10 obvious flaws within game. But when you consider its a small indie dev team and still considered an early acess game. Its very very good. Really immersive. Best to play with friends. And will only get better from here. The dev said the current map is only 15percent of the actual one they have finished.
It’s really good so far and has tons of potential for future content! I didn’t see the devs saying the map wasn’t done, but I kinda figured it wasn’t because certain areas seem to just abruptly end out of nowhere😅
It's really good, but hearing it's only 15% done it kinda gives me valheim flashbacks. Like I'm not very stingy about it since I'm very lenient about these kind of games, I just play them to the end of the present content and leave with the amount of fun and entertainment I had. It's great but I hope it doesn't fall into dev stagnation like valheim
For those who want more difficulty, Enshrouded now has modes you can set for the game, including one where hunger and thirst do play a part in surviving, enemies are harder, etc.
I had a really fun time with this game but I found that I wasn't interacting with the world and making outposts the same way as I do in Valheim. It was too easy to fast travel home right after getting what I needed, and too easy to quit and reload a world to have it instantly regen the ore I was mining. Unlike Valheim I never found myself needing to make temporary outposts, or feeling the exhilarating fear of being so far from home that I'm afraid of what might happen if I die. If they could introduce some difficulty settings to make fast travel more restricted, and force you to explore the map since you can just relog to regenerate all the materials, it would fix a lot of the immersion breaking easy aspects of how the game flows
I did my first run to 25 but didn’t finish the final area as I am expecting more content for end game as was. My second run through is just as much fun, in fact more so as I am far better prepared for deadly shroud areas and will be strengthening my flame again soon. In my opinion strengthening the flame and getting the advanced glider as early as possible makes the game feel a whole lot more fun.
Totally agree with you on the lack of voice acting. I would really like to see/hear them use the female voice in the intro video to voice the flame altars as well.
Seems like a fighting and flying game with building and crafting as an afterthought? No one talks much about the building and crafting but in the byline it says it's so amazing
Great game, I've played through a couple of times now. Noticed you played mainly with the wand? I did feel the classes needed a better balance as wizard is OP? I assume the Boss you mean is in the castle yard at half way through as I found him the toughest by far.
Yeah the wizard is STUPID OP but the way I built my class was all damage but able to be 1 shot by most enemies. It gave me enough balance to feel at least fair😂 And yeah that’s the main boss I was referring to
@@HuCaresYT I play melee/tank through and through and I noticed the difference on watching some videos how other ppl killed the dragon in the city fortress. I was a bit shocked seeing number in the 200+ there by some guys an I only hit the boss with like 20-30. With the jump-attack maybe for 50-60. Sure, I was a bit under-leveled for that boss though the difference was shocking to say the least. In the end I still won and only had to drink like 2-3 healing potions as the damage taken was not worth mentioning in the end
Loving every bit of it. Only realized it was EA later and was surprised by the level of polish. I bought it for my friend and convinced him to play it with me. He was hesitant as the last few games I recommended lately have been bad calls. He’s constantly asking to play it now though and we’re having a great time. We’re a ranger and tank pair with me being the ranger and it feels awesome. I play solo a lot as well and find the game to be a little on the easy side when I’m not.
hey Hu, does enshrouded have a clear endpoint? friend and me just got into the desert and i want to know if we can "finish" the game, or if its like valheim and it just kinda stops having stuff to go for.
Currently it just kinda abruptly stops unfortunately. If you’re in the desert, you’ve already beaten the main boss I was referring to. I THINK they’re planning on adding a ton more though
The game is in early access with a lot more content to come. The map is maybe? 30% complete. Valheim adds content also. Valheim started with 5 Forsaken, now has 6 and will add more once Ashlands comes out. I'm sure Enshrouded is the same
combat is actually the worst part of the game. The enemies have no more intelligence than to simply run straight at you. Combat is just kite and spam the same spell over and over. There no crowd control, attack combos, strategy, or skill. just kite and spam every enemy
Over 2 million people have bought Enshrouded last I heard, so they're not doing too bad. =) And interestingly enough I have the game on my HDD too (Starfield's hogging my meagre SSD space), and no crashes in over 100hrs. Maybe I'm just lucky.
I'm also at 100% (all quests done, all steam achievements) and I love the game. The best part imho is the building system, this is Minecraft on steroids. I come to the conclusion that this is NOT a survival game like so many people say. There are simply no survival mechanics and dying doesn't punish you much. There is no weather and simply doing nothing doesn't kill you like it would in a proper survival game.
I wouldn't call this game survival. It's a sandbox. Building a base doesn't make it survival. You can't die from starving, the closest aspect to survival is the shroud being an environment element that can kill you.
Hopefully they will clean up the quest system a bit; aside from bugs it gives some strange results sometimes as well as making things difficult to progress between the discovery items. Love the game otherwise. Curious as to which you counted as the "main boss" vs. the side bosses? I have a lot more trouble with the siclescythes than the wyrm...

Great review! I absolutely loved Starfield and I'm thinking of getting enshrouded. I love the RPG elements but survival games don't seem to be my cup of tea, but who knows...

Im sure it wasnt intentional but i felt some of your words were misleading The Game didnt "release" yet, its "Early access", am i splitting airs? Maybe but its the differen between a polished full relase and a rough limited, this affects ho people judge it Sidenote to this you ddnt 100% a finished game, but you did complete the 25% of it that is i the early access I realise you gave it a fairly positive review, but i do feel your negative points were a bit unfair considering it is early access I have played, and continue to play games with a lot more "missing" or "unfinished" in them than this game, also a lot of games far more bug-riddled or broken Obviously i think this game is great, and considering how little we have got from the full map, i think it will be great by the time its fully released EDIT: Almost forgot to say, as of 24 Feb Enshrouded passed 2 million player, now idk how that compares with cartoony pieces of crap like Palworld, i suspect its less since not everyone's kid is begging to have Enshrouded bought for them, but thats not too shabby for a mostly grown-up customer gam

This review was more about everything that is currently in the game, but I definitely should’ve mentioned (at least more clearly) how some of my criticisms could potentially be addressed in the future. Personally, just because a game is in Early Access, I believe that it isn’t safe from criticism (especially if it costs money). After all, that is a main reason why so many games release in early access, to be able to take criticisms to make it as good as it can be. Look at Baldur’s Gate 3 for example. I will most likely cover any new content that gets added to the game as time goes on!

Says it has great RPG elements, shows the most surface level part of an RPG. Stats are found in most every game these days, so the roll playing part which usually is about the story, is the depth of the RPG. This game lacks that depth. Other than that it seems great.
I know the game isn't finished, however I have done everything that IS currently in the game so this is a review of that. As more gets added, I'll most likely cover it as well!
178 Hrs played. Question....What's so good about it? I gave it every chance and it turned out to be a turd. You can achieve victory with the first weapons you find......No Growth. Treasures are lame, lots of chests little cool content. The lore is so vague. Zero sense of adventure (Unless you aren't familiar with good story content or Actual Good Survival/Build games) No real pay off for the effort. The "Bosses" are laughable, even for a novice player. There is almost zero reason to go find the 5 npc characters, aside from a few things, most of what they offer is irrelevant to game success. Building is useless. Can you build stuff sure.....But why? Wanna play house? Then this game is for you. Who cares if it's stone or wood. Nothing attacks it. So zero incentive to bother. Honestly in my opinion, as a long time gamer, it has good graphics, controls work well (mostly). Otherwise it feels like anyone that praises it is just a mouth piece for it. Because otherwise you haven't actually played it.
I love this game because the Adventure elelments are very good, I also love the Combat and the graphics is great and you can play in coop waht can be fun
I can't help but notice you completely skipped mentioning or showing the Shroud itself. This wasn't a review, this was a handy. Yes, the game is pretty, and parts are really fun, but progression is a mess, balance is....unbalanced, and the Shroud is (IMHO) extremely unfun. It's literally designed to be stressful and they succeeded, and that's not fun. The game is also kind of pointless since you are supposed to get rid of the shroud, but you can't. And the exploits are everywhere. Enshrouded is more like all the ingredients for a recipe, but it's only half mixed and not ready for the oven, never mind the table. Once they open the game to modders it'll be pretty great, but right now it's still missing some pretty crucial basic features.

This game was pretty hyped in certain circles. I'm still playing it as well as nightingale. Neither are perfect but I love them both.

Kind of strange to say you have 100% completed a game in early access that the devs said is less than a third finished.

it's early acces though. you'll get everything by 1-2week playing casually with your friends. they need more content ASAP

Challenging combat? The combat is basically spamming a wand while moving backward. Combat looks visually good, but it's far from good.

Reviewing Ark Survival Ascended is fair game, since all they did was redo the graphics and not fix ay of the bugs and problems that Ark Survival Evolved has had for years
don't forget it's a EA with only 30-35% of the world at the moment...
I wish melee combat have more skills, doesn't have to be as much as diablo but some.

for me it stutters at times and some people have said the same that it was a optimized issue but idk if they are right. My valheim and other games run perfectly its just this one lol @@HuCaresYT
Says it has great RPG elements, shows the most surface level part of an RPG. Stats are found in most every game these days, so the roll playing part which usually is about the story, is the depth of the RPG. This game lacks that depth.

178 Hrs played. Question....What's so good about it? I gave it every chance and it turned out to be a turd. You can achieve victory with the first weapons you find......No Growth. Treasures are lame, lots of chests little cool content. The lore is so vague. Zero sense of adventure (Unless you aren't familiar with good story content or Actual Good Survival/Build games) No real pay off for the effort. The "Bosses" are laughable, even for a novice player. There is almost zero reason to go find the 5 npc characters, aside from a few things, most of what they offer is irrelevant to game success. Building is useless. Can you build stuff sure.....But why? Wanna play house? Then this game is for you. Who cares if it's stone or wood. Nothing attacks it. So zero incentive to bother. Honestly in my opinion, as a long time gamer, it has good graphics, controls work well (mostly). Otherwise it feels like anyone that praises it is just a mouth piece for it. Because otherwise you haven't actually played it.

I can't help but notice you completely skipped mentioning or showing the Shroud itself.
This wasn't a review, this was a handy. Yes, the game is pretty, and parts are really fun, but progression is a mess, balance is....unbalanced, and the Shroud is (IMHO) extremely unfun. It's literally designed to be stressful and they succeeded, and that's not fun. The game is also kind of pointless since you are supposed to get rid of the shroud, but you can't. And the exploits are everywhere. Enshrouded is more like all the ingredients for a recipe, but it's only half mixed and not ready for the oven, never mind the table. Once they open the game to modders it'll be pretty great, but right now it's still missing some pretty crucial basic features.
