Luis, I want to thank you for these sets of videos. I’ve watched all of them and because of your unselfishness by giving to us your most precious asset - time - sharing your knowledge; has saved me thousands of dollars. Today I replaced one set of rollers and the sliding door that was installed in the 1960’s and now works like new for only 20$. I have three more doors to do now. Thanks again!!!
A million thank yous. I had the wheel on the bottom break on me. I caught your video and hit Home Depot. I fixed it in about an hour thanks to your video.
HAHAHAHA "God forbid you try to open it before you eat breakfast"!! That's the damn truth- I about threw a hammer through mine. THanks for the video man
Can you please tell me how to remove the window sliding panel out of the frame? The only screws I found were to remove the whole frame from the Concrete wall
My patio door had a different design, the side bolt was also for adjusting the roller (and door) height, and should actually not be removed. Instead I had to split open the frame around the glass, which exposed a screw above the roller mechanism, to release it
You’re doing it the hard way. No need to take out all the screws. Just the bottom two. Then tap the bottom rail off. I’m a glazer with 13 years experience.
You are so correct. I just removed the screws that hold the rollers in place, tapped them toward the center with my long skinny screwdriver and pried them out. Home Depot had the same size wheel, so I did the swap and slid them back back in. Took 5 or six minutes, much easier!
Have the same door; having a hard time removing the door out because the wheel adjusting screw is stuck!! any idea on how to remove that screw if its stuck?
Marcelo Smith Hmmm that's a bummer. You probably need 3 people. One on each side of door lifting the door up and another person on the bottom with a flat head screwdriver trying to pry the door away from the tracks with out damaging the tracks. Hope this helps.
@@marcelosmith8359 you can get a spray called liquid wrench spray ut down at as many angles as u can...giver e minute n take a good screwdriver n unscrew her...oh and i found sometimes if its real bad from yrs i will give it a cple of taps with my mallot whilst spraying liquid wrench sometimes just that teeny bittle do da trick !!! There is usually a screw on the bottom. Stick a phillips head screw driver in there and rotate until the wheels go up into the door. That should give you the clearance to lift the door up and out. Thanks
Hello there, my sliding glass door is missing the handle, do you think you can make a video removing the door handle and giving us the part number and if you can please measure between the holes and tell us the spacing and any other measurement you can think of, so I can get a replacement or something close to it.. any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
I know this video was posted a few years ago but I need your help and I figured I would reach out. I appreciate all you videos. As a single mom I do all my own repairs and you have helped extremely. I believe we have super similar sliding doors. I am struggling to get the screws out to move the frame up to remove my broken rollers. It is extremely rusty and partially stripped. I have used my impact gun and a hand screw driver but nothing. Any suggestions? I was thinking to just break the head off with something sharp and a hammer but I don’t want to break anything and I still wouldn’t know how to remove the other half stuck in the door. Can you help?
Are the doors backwards? I have similar doors and bought a screen door for it but I have to place the screen door on the inside of the house because of how the doors are placed. It's very awkward and doesn't work. I've rented places where the doors are opposite of yours (the sliding one is on the inside of the house and the other one is on the outer side. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say😁) please tell me that this isn't the correct placement that the doors belong. Can the track be switched around to fit the placement that I desire so that I may utilize the screen door?
Queen D I’m with you on this one & I hope he (or someone else) answers you, because I have the same problem where I live! All the sliding doors are backwards. 😯
Louis, great videos.I especially liked the idea of 3 videos that automatically jumped to the next video. After completing the project, do you think it is possible to remove and replace the bracket hardware and wheel without repositioning the side rail? Just curious. Also the replacement rail is great touch!. Before I order the track cover, has the door continued to work as well as if did when the track cover was initially installed ? Curious how the cover has held up with use. Thank you FYI, I am a Coral Springs neighbor.
Tom Ferguson Thanks for the positive comments! As far as the track cover it has held up great! Definitely recommend it if your track is looking shady. The door is still smooth as silk. 👌🏽 Now replacing hardware and wheel assembly with out repositioning the side rails not sure. I will be doing my other set of doors soon and I will sure try. Sounds like it's worth a shot! Let me know how it turns out for you. Thanks
@@austinbutler1291 There's maybe 1/4". I found someone with a similar door on a google search about the same thing. He ended up breaking the glass trying to free the stationary door. I think the only way that door's coming out is toward the outside.
So mine was not hard to take out at all. You should be able to grab it by the sides, push up and then tilt the bottom down. That is how I did mine. If that doesn't work, on the bottom of the door there should be a place to put in a screw driver. That is where you should be able to adjust the height of rollers, I would adjust the rollers so it would give you more room to lift and tilt the bottom out. Hope that makes sense. ALSO you might have to have another person to help with the door, depending on the weight of the door!
You didn't have to order anything. Just buy a pair of 1' & a quarter loose rollers and replace rollers in existing roller housing. And , never use track caps. Always replace entire bottom track......you can order from a sliding door wholesale joint like I do almost every week for work. You will have to order a new track, or a bead cap...
Hey Michael thanks for all of your comments. I appreciate them. Hey i have an idea. Since you do this almost every week for work, why don't you make a video and show us all how to do it. It would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!
If you are going to do how to videos you should at least get the names of your products you are using correct. PB blaster is not JB weld and it’s not WD-40 either totally different products totally different brands.

This did the trick for me. Saved me the cost of new patio doors. Thank you.
All this time, I thought we needed a new door. Amazing!! Thank you!

Helpful . Even though mine late 70s frames on west coast of Canada different. But assembly access same. Thanks
Hey, I know it's an old vid was this door the dual pane design with the gas in between?
What screw size would you say that is. The Frame of my door is falling apart
Thanks
This video could have started at 6:44 and ended at 7:00
Also dry spray silicone is much better to lube wheels and slide like brand new
Hey thanks a lot John Gill. I will definitely try that in the future.
Exactly what I need to do with mine which are era 1960. In fact I may have the identical door as yours.
Have you replaced the top guides/stabilizers? If so, where did you get them from?
Great video! What's the part number if you remember?

Where did u get the part ? What's the part #

What website did you use? I have a sliding door that is very similar
Some people are genius. Had you worked for a window company before
I probably have to get that track repair thing 😝. The end of my slider is enclosed on the bottom...not sure how to get to rollers
thank you. big help

Check out Amazon. Easiest place to order it. Thanks!
Dude you called pb blaster jb weld dont put jb weld on there it definitely will not roll lol
You left out the hardest part; getting the door out of the track
Lol you should be able to lift up on the door, lift it straight up and you should be able to pull the bottom of the door out of track.
@@austinbutler1291 Nope.
@@desertrat75 can you look on top of the slider and see if there is enough room for the door to even go up
for me the hardest part is getting the right parts to fix anything

HOPEFULLY after the end of the video ill show you the after. you had doubt about fixing it lol.
My door is twice the size of your and made back in 1960's?
Yes - so magically the door appears on a table. My door's stuck, and I can't take it out.

michael chilner Hi ! Yes please make a video of the way you complete the task ! The more we know the better 👍🏼
I have $1k that says you won't drive up to North Myrtle Beach and fix mine this week.
As soon as i spotted the macaw i was off track...
awesome macaw
I like to see how removing from his place the door its self...
Ayk Bayanduryan lift the door into the top of the frame. Swing the bottom of the door out of the frame first. Just like a sliding vinyl window frame.
@@calartian85 why not show this with a big slider people want to see the technique. It’s a large percent of the work.
I hope the Macaws have more room than that small cage. They need to be inside in their own room.
almost 100% way to make sure you have to buy a new window
I'm pretty sure I have that same door 😂
Pretty sure it's the ador/ hi lite 1200
Seriously you couldn't just do that in one video.
Three minutes of babbling before we get in to actually fixing anything, then he skips taking the door off. Worthless.
Thank you for taking out the time to comment! Have a great one!
Talks too much, and he didn't even showed how to remove the doors out of the track. Not a good presentation, sorry
