Thanks for this. Tires Plus and Tire Discounters refused to work on my rusted Pontiac Montana (same van) my friend just gave to me. Now I’m stuck having to do my own brakes but maybe that’s a good thing. I needed something to kick me into buying tools after losing everything to a tornado last year… including my Corolla (hence the freebie rust-bucket from a friend). This minivan really is too rusted to even use the rocker panel jack points, as I discovered when I found a bolt in the rear wheel not long ago. Despite the condition I am beyond thankful for it! Somewhat appropriately, it is just after Thanksgiving and so I got a lot of great deals on the tools I needed. Your video is just the latest in a long string of blessings since the disaster. May you be blessed as well! Thanks again.
I've done lots of brakes, on different vehicles, but each has different bolting sizes *torx* , 15mm, etc.. I was about to replace a rotor, and used your video for a reference to see what sizes I need. I was surprised that even though I have done it many times before, I had forgotten some things, and this video helped me ensure all tools and preps were in place before starting. This *and other* videos you produce are really helpful, and I want to thank you for explaining/showing it so well!
If it's coming from the new pads, you may want to buy some anti-sqeal grease and apply it to the back of the pads that contact the brake caliper. You can purchase this at your local auto parts store.
Hello from Canada! Thanks for this video A1 - I just changed the rotors and pads on my '03 Montana and saved a whack o' cash. But for the soaking rain that started coming down the second I got the first caliper off, the repair went exceptionally well! The video mentioned nothing about rain... lol

hi great channel I congratulate Mike I have a problem with my 1999 venture is hot in traffic sections, the fans work well in the water tank when hot boiling could help thanks
@dadyazulyoro I would make sure that the fans are kicking on when they are suppost to, and if the thermostat is old, it wouldn't hurt to change that either.
@mrexecutive1 Most pads now have plates that act to keep them from squeaking. Plus anti sieze may work for a few hundred miles but then it will wear away and if your pads were going to squeak they will squeak. Also the Anti sieze could heat up run and end up getting on the brakes, then you have quiet brakes that don't work!
Once you change the pads, the first thing you should do before starting the vehicle it to pump the brake pedal until you have a firm pedal back so that the pedal doesn't compress to the floor. Once that has been achieved you should be fine. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

@dummyaccount68 He have a video that shows you how to bleed the brakes on pretty much all front disk break vehicles. Here's a link to it on our RUclips channel. ruclips.net/user/1aauto?feature=mhee#p/search/1/zqmFOnizkWI
so..I changed my pads today..very easy..pedal goes almost to the floor after startng vehicle. The system was never opened and no fluid was lost. I would pump them to obviously get fluid back into the calipers?? that is it?? I was concerned so i bled the front and after wards my brakes are back to normal. You are saying that the bleeding wasn't needed. just keep pumping and working them until the pedal comes back?

DON'T use axle/bearing grease on the slider pins, need pure SILICONE GREASE not bearing grease in pins!
I want that Pontiac in the background!
Thank you for watching!

Dear Mike,
What are you thought on applying anti-sieze on back of pads as sort of an anti-queak?

I have been very helpful, thank you very much.
Is the tourque on the caliper bolts or "pins" the same as it would be on a 2001 chevy venture, 80 ft. lbs?
or just replace the hardware like a normal person; and clean BEHIND the hardware where rust actually builds up....
If it's on there really tight, you might need to hit it with a hammer to get it off.
Great video that's very helpful thanks.
No you definitely do not want to tighten those down to 80Ftlbs as you will break the bolt.
Thanks for checking us out Neil. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 FREE SHIPPING in the lower 48 states.
