This fan made DLC actually made Infinite a powerful and threatening presence. This was all Sega needed to do. They just needed to push his character a little more and get Eggman out of the picture. Then people would have remembered him as a really cool villain with credibility. And he was leading the Phantom Army with Neo Metal Sonic? And the two of them actually had entertaining banter? Magnificent. Truly magnificent.
They nailed Eggman and Infinite. Also Neo Metal sounds a lot better than in Heroes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the VA's in this mod sound like the ones used in *Adrenaline Dubs Sonic IDW* videos, which makes the story feel like a IDW story that could have been told if Sega weren't so strict with the mandates
They are! Neo Metal's role in the story always reminded me of his IDW arc where it's stated he was being constructed for the final battle of original Forces. I don't know if they were referencing that whatsoever but it's my headcanon now lol

overclock felt like frontier's the final horizon update, and its genuinely crazy how good this is.
the tension that you mentioned on sonic's apology scene, i think it was because of how wreckless he was back in forces and how you notice he doesnt take anything seriously during the mod story until things get really messy.
Plus, the tails lookin like lost world is supposed to be a "suit" kinda like an ironman thing you know? but ig they didn't specifiy it lmao
Both of those explanations make a lot of sense and I don't really blame them for not being able to flesh out both things. I don't mind them at all, it's things like that that makes it interesting to discuss!

I actually really love the comic book style cutscenes it reminds me of how the story book series did it's cutscenes so it doesn't feel off

True, but for the proper experience I think it's expected that the player keeps the predefined look so it fits with the comics.

did you notice in the final zone (boss fight) in a part when infinite and neo metal were arguing, sonic cut in and said "Oh look at them, arguing like an old married couple!"

This is better than the original. I even thought it was an official game lmao, but when I heard James Dijit (and 2d cutscenes), I realized it was a fan game. Also I like metal sonic as a robot in p0rtal was quite nice
Random fact here, but the game also explains why the Chaos Emeralds aren’r around. They say they are nowhere to be found, but by the timeframe this is in, is probably because they are in the Starfall Islands already
I can't help but be enamored by the entire star wars reference of the death star trench run and sonic's following line at 24:05 As that was the most immediate thought I had in my head and the voice line confirmed it since that's Han Solo's line!
It seems that Infinite and Metal Sonic are forming a deadly alliance.
I think the reason why the rookie was the way they were was because Sonic didn't think about them when in a fight

Airboost is pretty good, though the game itself wasn't really buolt around it, wich is a shame cause it's a pretty cool thing

They removed classic sonic and replaced him with more modern sonic and i dont Like that because the Egg Dragon Boss theme in forces goes hard

Yeah it doesn't though, I died a few times in each level because I kept holding boost as if I was playing Forces instead of taking my time, and I missed a ton of shortcuts because I didn't notice them in time or I boosted past them and took a slower route

I know that creating our own character had a mixed reception but personally what really bothered me was how short levels were, the lack of player input that was needed to beat the levels, and the gadgets were not fun to use.
Typically I hear people compliment the customization whenever I talk about about Forces which is nice! I wish there were more options but that's a subjective thing. I didn't really vibe with many Wispons besides Burst and Drill personally just because the others stop your momentum when you attack but I think those two are really fun to mess with
trust me, modders can do anything if they try hard enough

If anyone hasn't played this you owe yourself to do it! Its so much fun!! It actually makes me feel good about spending that money on Forces that previously felt like a waste, despite getting it at 75% off
Seriously though the levels feel varied and have a ton of alternate routes, and they all require more than just holding the boost button, if you dont react you die. Not to mention they massively improved the controls from Forces. If you liked Generations its like that but a little harder to read whats coming up and a lot more paths to discover, all with minimal (but effective) 2D gameplay!

At the end that was so perfect overlord metal sonic went back to his normal base form and infinite is OK with that
25:49 I just wanna say, I love how neo looks and what I believe to be the effort behind it. Because Neo metal sonic never showed up as a physical character in sonic heroes gameplay, he only showed up in cutscenes and the only metal sonic in that game was the final boss, which was metal overlord, since there was no in game model for Neo that means that the makers of this mod most definitely had to make this from scratch, with the inclusion of the phantom Ruby in Neo’s chest and the flowing power in his body.
I mean there is possibly a fanmade model somewhere but I like to think they put the effort in to make this from scratch … all in all Neo looks amazing in this. And the mod itself looks amazing
Appearing in cutscenes is one thing but being present in the gameplay is on a level of its own

The avatar was upset for mystic jungle, where sonic going in alone led to the avatar getting sucked into null space. If it weren't for eggman, he would have been out of the game.
Yeah, I figured, it was just odd that they held onto it for a while. Wasn't a fan of that but I appreciate their attempt at making character development in a short timeframe

The fact that this mod is better than the actual game is both impressive and *really* sad when you think about the fact that one was made by a multimillion dollar company and another by a bunch of fans who did it just as a passion project.

only, and i really mean the ONLY issue with Overclocked is the fact half the levels are way too dark. sets up the atmosphere, and I'd get that in other Sonic games, but not in boost-styled ones cuz it's really hard to make out some objects while running
See, I always thought it was a camera issue but maybe it's this too. There's so many routes I don't notice because they're hard to see unless I'm intentionally going slower

The mod is free to download but it's on the scale of a fan game so I wanted to give it that title ;) the developers specifically requested people buy OG Forces to play it so it's a win-win for everyone involved, no copyright infringement.

Great mod but connecting it with the base game contradicts the story and ruins Eggman and Infinite's relationship and the source of the phantom ruby.

I dont get why no one has made that kind of video where they say something was an "underrated gem" about Forces yet. I've seen it for the kind of games that have the same amount of budget as Elf Bowling 2 but not Forces even though it was actually good, it really gets too much hate.
Also if you try to reply here asking me for proof or a whole fucking article about how its actually good I wont bother, just try the game, look at positive reviews or do your own look into it and stop saying the same thing your favorite YTber says for the 694207771337th time

They can, just not for Forces. In fact, the Switch version of Frontiers has a lot of mods that work on both PC and Switch somehow

The logic was after the events of original Forces, Infinite was more so out for revenge now against Sonic for defeating him at the height of his power, and Eggman for betraying him and taking the Ruby for himself. Shadow was small-potatoes to him, even in original Forces.

Absolutely! That's basically why I made this. There's also a ton of improvement mods, custom levels, custom avatar parts, a custom Chaos 0 boss fight, and there's another level pack project called Sonic Forces Reimagined that you can play. (Though I think it's still in development). But for $10 on a sale I don't think that's too bad

I'm personally not a fan of the direction they went with Overclocked. Too story focused, forcing the Sonic Forces trailer wolf avatar on the player which defeats the main point of Sonic Forces (the character creator). Also, why show Infinite's face and have Metal Sonic betray Eggman?
Well I kinda figured part of the appeal was the attempt to see the Forces environment with an attempt at proper characterization, not to mention 99% of mods that exist don't have cutscenes.
You can make your own avatar, the wolf is just the default. Metal has betrayed Eggman before so I don't necessarily see it as OOC.

That’s been part of metal’s characterisation for a while, despite being programmed to follow Eggman all the time, he still hates it and wants to break free to become the one true sonic, that was why he did what he did in Sonic Heroes, and when the Phantom Ruby breaks him free once again he does the exact same thing
I think it’s kind of a cool combination of ideas that Metal now actually has the chance to become the one true sonic in Overclocked because of the Ruby’s power to rewrite reality, now that goal is actually plausible for him
@@With_kind46782 I played the game, and saw Metal's liquid ability. I just thought it was part of Eggman's plan. Then again he was locked up as shown in Team Chaotix's side. I guess I didn't give it thought.
