I'm so excited for this! I was not into Marvel at all before but I'm obsessed with Joe and super luckily for me this show happens to have all the things I love: witches and fun horror movie stuff (they're even referencing Suspiria, which is such a specific deep cut right up my alley). I'm pretty easy to please so I'm sure I'll have a good time with this and I can't wait!
Definitely agree they’re going to be playing on horror tropes and portrayals and perceptions of witches over the years. There’s a shot of Agatha looking like Elphaba with Patti Lupone’s character as Glinda, which is the most obvious. The exorcist like sequences, the couple scenes in what looks like an insane asylum (witches or women accused of witchcraft were sometimes sent to asylums), the 70s disco setting (disco slashers?), and 80s sleepover with the ouija board... The show’s official synopsis says that a mysterious Teen (obviously Wiccan lol) finds Agatha and persuades her to take him on the Witches’ Road, so he likely also has an ulterior motive. That looks like him with Agatha in the last shot of the trailer, so I think it’s very likely they’ll be the last two on the road. Oh, and that was Kathryn singing! There will be singing. The cast actually performed the song (The Ballad of the Witches Road) in this trailer live at D23 over the weekend, there’s a video up on RUclips.
'Agatha... The Covenless Witch' (The soft menace in that line...) I cannot wait for this show! I know everyone thinks that Audrey Plaza or Kathryn Hahn is the villain, but my theory is that it's actually 'Teen', played by the Amazing Joe Locke (We all know who he really is, but I'll be nice and call him Teen). Like Agatha was manipulating everything in Wandavision, I think 'Teen' the one who will be responsible for 'the bodies piling up', though Agatha will be blamed due to her past. 'Teen' is a relatable 'Villain' though, because he's just desperate to make it to the end of the road and is willing to sacrifice them all for the thing he wants the most.
I really loved WandaVision and I'm excited to see what they do with us WandaVision was very much up my alley. It is also crazy to think that this is Joe lock second television acting role ever, third acting role in total he did a stint on Broadway. I want to point out that Joe's character was officially labelled teen we all know it's Billy I am a little worried that they're not gonna connect to him either being gay or Jewish. Marvel doesn't have a great track record for either of them. I will be crossing my fingers.
@sylviemilner he filmed this before he started his Broadway run I believe so still second professional job and I feel fairly certain that his character will be gay, they'll probably still leave out the Jewish part, unfortunately, especially since joe isn't Jewish
