Also one tidbit you didn’t mention but is hilarious : Wiccan’s spellcasting style is directly based on his mother’s (not Wanda, Mrs Kaplan) self-help book when Teddy and he were trying to figure his magic out.

His spells work through him hearing his chants. I always read the self help section of that story as boyfriend bantor. Like I tell my boyfriend he gets by because he's H&H and then he tells me "I like that about him." You know its hard to explain gay relationships
During children's crusade he actually tells Quicksilver he doesn't have to hear his own voice, but it helps him to concentrate.
@@Aslianaa ive read that story so many times and I dont remember that. But I like that better. It never made sense to have to hear yourself to cast. Thanks.
@@wiccanroo6686 i just looked it up (to be sure) and he tells quicksilver "sometimes saying it out loud helps me focus" which does imply he doesn't HAVE to say it out loud. It also vague enough that different writers can use it how it fits into their story.
I love Wiccan. He's just one of those characters that's relatable to me and i grew up reading Young Avengers comics. Makes me sad Marvel broke up the team to create champions then relegated Billy and Teddy to infinity pride appearances. So much wasted potential and praying MCU synergy can help him get an ongoing with writers who actually want to write something other than romance arcs for him.
Yeah, it is really sad that Wiccan and Hulkling are just cast to the side. Like, Billy can literally teleport all the way through the univers. Send him on an adventure on earth and he still can be back with Teddy whenever. Or lean even more into the Arthurian legend they already referenced and send them on some epic quests.
This!!!! Like I really loved Hulkling and Wiccan Possibilities but there was no need to do a Volume 2 😭😭. The last important Wiccan appearance was that sadly + he never got a solo comic 💔
I kinda want them to break up again so they can have other stories 😭 especially since Agatha is making him way more interesting

If End-Game hadn''t ended with Iron-Man's sacrifice, Young Avengers would have been the perfect 3-part triolgy to tell within the Kang saga. So much emotional depth involved in growing with the team, the team finding out Nathaniel is Kang from the past, Young Avengers & The Avengers losing to Kang... and then Iron-lad sacraficing himself to erase / defeat Kang.
All the optimism and hope could be brought back in the end by reviving Paul Bettany's Vision via the IronLad armour, instead of White Vision.
I wish Quicksilver and Speed had more personality than "I am the sibling of way more important magical hero who has a bunch of storyline and prophecies and what not"
At least Speed gets to be queer and isn't a complete raging, controlling, ahole! There's that at least!

I agree, given how they butchered QS’s portrayal in the MCU I don’t think it’ll do much in terms of developing Speed. Though hopefully something in the future comes up to give Tommy a boost in character or powers.

After a string of designs barely connected to the characters, this feels nice even if it’s on the weaker side. Also Wiccan has always been a very big team player, he needs a supporting cast or at least Teddy in the comics, so it makes sense you need to build your deck in a way that everyone works well with him.
Wiccan is over due for a solo comic series and a power upgrade. Agatha pops up after he and Teddy get married and put his powers to the test and showed how he was able to jump between multiverses with ease. I wish Marvel would just give him to Steve Orlando because I feel like he would write a good story for him like he's done with Midnighter for DC.

He needs a solo series for where his powers and potential is explored. Which he has so much of which has not yet been fully explored. And I also would like an in-depth explanation of his Demiurge situation.
I also want a look at his life in space and the Kree/skrull empire. That would be so needed for him and Teddy.
It was so wild when the Heartstopper tv show came out and every fan of both Heartstopper and Young Avengers (myself included) knew the casting would be perfect for Billy and Teddy. I don’t think they’d ever actually do that, because I can’t imagine Joe and Kit want to be playing the exact same dynamic over and over? Some fans already have a difficult time separating Kit Connor from the character he’s playing on Heartstopper so I could see how this problem would only intensify if he was also casted to play the Teddy to Joe Locke’s Billy.
People only want that because of heartstopper. Idk them personally but im sure Joe and Kit wouldn’t mind playing the dynamic again since they’d already be comfortable with each other but they’d understand that nobody really wants to see it happen twice and that you need to branch out more when it comes to different projects. We also don’t know how much Kit would resemble Teddy other than looks because that’s what people mostly fan cast him for as he has the look of a stronger bigger guy who’s in love with a twink basically and also we don’t even know how good Joe would be in the role of Billy yet until Agatha comes out so we just gotta wait and see
billy/wiccan shouldve been kit instead of joe cuwz ugh this is just bad casting, joe looks nothing like the kid version of billy which looks way more like kit or any other actor that ressembles the billy kid version

I got into Marvel after being a big fan of the Sam Raimi Spider-man movies. The main series I followed as a kid were Ultimate Spider-man, Young Avengers and Runaways. Wiccan and Hulkling were so important to me. As a closeted kid in the 2000s and 2010's, I didn't see many LGBTQ characters in the media I watched so I really latched on to these two. I still remember Billy and Teddy's kiss from the Children's Crusade cause it was the first gay kiss I ever saw in media (I didn't get into Runaways until after reading Children's Crusade). Id seen so many heterosexual kisses in Disney movies and stuff, but no LGBTQ+ ones. For the longest time, Hulkling was one of my favorite characters (partially cause I though his powers were very cool and partially cause I might have had a bit of a crush on him as a kid). I am glad that characters that were so important to me as a kid are being introduced to a wider audience. Maybe more LGBTQ kids out there will feel seen thanks to these characters.
Also, really wish they brought Xavin back. They are a character from the Runaways and one of the first examples of positive trans representation Ive ever seen. I understand that the shapeshifting non-binary character is a little bit of a stereotype now (Double trouble, Morph, Alex Fierro, Nimona, etc.) but I still think they were an interesting and well rounded character.

I think for Mystique it is less of a retcon and she was probably intended to be a lesbian or bi but because of the era she was created they weren't sure about making it explicit.

Bummed that the Patriot in Marvel Snap is Rayshaun and not Eli. I know Rayshaun is the more prominent and popular of the two, but it just makes me sad that Eli never got to have that chance since he was written off after Children’s Crusade and we only ever see him come back for cameos.

I’ve been a fan of the young ave Evers and been waiting for some type of animated adaption of it never thought the first time we would see them was live action specifically Wiccan. Still want that animated series and I’m hoping that the movies will lead to animated show of the young avengers.

in case you're still wondering which deck wiccan fits most cleanly into, he pops off really hard in hit-monkey bounce decks, you barely have to change anything about them to fit him in either since the energy curve is so low in a bounce deck
i love the fact that in the heartstopper comics at one point the characters dress up as wiccan and hulking for Halloween way before the show was made and then joe could be wiccan (still find it weird how they wont reveal who he's actually playing)
I think Teddy was heavily rumoured to show up in The Marvels film but I think that’s too many teenagers in one movie for them that isn’t named Young Avengers.

Just an addition. If you wanna know more about Wiccan currently in the comics the Empyre event was all about him and his husband. Also you can kinda check out the big Wanda comic that came out last year where she died again.
I'd also add Empyre, Lords of Empyre: Emperor Hulkling, King in Black: Wiccan and Hulking, and The Last Annihilation: Wiccan and Hulkling. They're absolutely near-perfect books for my two favorite characters
I hope they bring the Wiccan x Hulkling romance into the MCU.
I wonder if they're acc gonna introduce Hulking tho (I feel like Secret Invasion would've been the best place to bring him in tbh), or Skaar will take his place bcos they're close enuff in appearance.

Wonder if the MCU excuse for mutants not existing is Wanda already did “no more mutants”, forgot, and now that she’s “dead” (out of commission) after MoM, now Kamala Khan and other mutants can start popping back up sporadically, and Secret Wars reboot is partially undoing the NoMoreMutants situation
but when would she have done it? She was born as the Scarlet Witch but she didn’t have any noticeable powers until Hydra set her up with the Mind Stone a little bit before Age of Ultron. no way she could’ve done it between that or before as she wasn’t near as strong

I think that the Young Avengers but Wiccan especially are the BTS of Marvel. Because they’re great, but not for everyone, and their fans are rabid.

So mcu cannon scarlet witch can basically give powers she gave speed her two brothers powers and at any moment can enhance her boy if she so pleases and Billy has his mothers powers but onna far greater scale especially when he becomes the living embodiment of the demiurge which he already is it’s just taking time to grow within him like Wanda’s chaos magic

There's been some conflicting/ confusing reports about that tbh lol.
- Variety posted an article confirming Joe Locke would be playing Billy Kaplin, but later edited out the character's names
- Marvel's official synopsis said that Joe Locke's character will help Agatha break out of the distorted spell & beg her to take him to the Witches' Road (which could be Billy looking for Wanda)
- However, Patti LuPone & Joe Locke hv both said in interviews that he'll be playing Agatha's familiar.
I'm all for a good strong gay storyline in the MCU buh Naaa Joe Locke should be someone else and not Wiccan. Yeah he was good in heartstopper (sn1) but naa I want another Wiccan [emphasis on "i" before you twist your neck.] the kid in WandaVision is fine and must hv grown atleast by now - he was right there or any other cute teen boy out there in the world
IMO they already fambled the bag by making him stereotypically gay and feminine etc in the coming Agatha show. You can be a man and manly while being gay.
Feige n Co. are trying to course correct the MCU, i dont think more negative energy on any new project will be appreciated koz that will now cause a negative decision of cancelling further projects in the same franchise and for the same characters/actors; Koz lets face it, majority of fans are tired of political staff in Marvel projects lately at the expense of quality story.
My opinion, for this gay story they ought to be subtle about it and make it organic so that fans grow to love and accept this conner without them shoving it down throats with messaging and propaganda aesthetics that frankly hurts everyone involved.😘
@@jozey5215 Ngl, I haven't acc seen Heartstopper, but I know it's a *very* popular show so I can only assume he's a great actor. He *looks* like a perfect fit for Wiccan imo tho - he's one of the few fancasts I've seen for the MCU that I immediately accepted/ agreed with lol.
Julian Hillard was great in WandaVision & DS:MOM, but he's still only 13 - a bit too young to play Billy on a Young Avengers team imo (especially when all the other actors are 20+).
I know it's too early to judge just from a couple of lines in a trailer, but I do agree that his character seems *a little* too campy/ flamboyant for my liking tbh. Hopefully he'll do a great job in the role tho.

I was open to Joe buh after seeing the Agatha trailers... My mind did a 180. The femme bit further killed it for me koz he is the only male lead in the series and atleast he shd hv been the male energy to satiate the fans who are (news flash) approx 80% male.
Buh i guess the show was designed to cater to the females only and if so then its just gonna be another Marvels/Acolyte ride of criticism each week; which is a shame honestly koz the consensus is that WandaVision is among the few top post endgame projects that are that good. Henewe lets wait n see.

More people should read Young Avengers, but at the same time I don't want them to because the books already cost so fucking much! 😭 It sucks that the series (both times) had such limited runs, which drives up the price of variant covers and graphic novels. I know some of my local comic shops (and con vendors) felt bad for me when I'd come around asking for Young Avengers stuff. Also, honorable mention to the Empyre event as well as King In Black run. Billy and Teddy got married/had their honeymoon/dealt with the intergalactic politicking that is being married to and being ruler of both the Kree and Skrulls.
I also just think that Empyre is very fun and incorporates some early canon (ie Avengers, Wanda & Vision stories) into the series in very fun ways!

Mephisto didn't GIVE Wanda those pieces of his soul as a trick. Mephisto had earlier been defeated and "killed" by....either Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer or Ghost Rider. I cant remember who did it, but Mephisto was gone. Shattered. Blown TF up! But really, that just means he was dispersed into pieces. And Wanda's magic just sorta snatched two of them to use to give these magicked up babies life. Then, when Mephisto got himself back together enough, he hired this guy to go get the rest of his soul shard so he can be whole again

Since in the (WONDAVISION) show, he & his brother, were just imagined creations, of Wanda Maximoff, that she wished into existence.
They weren’t part her “imagination”, they were real, yes Wanda wished them into existence but they had agency and self awareness aka they had free will and personality/ emotions of their own, that makes them VERY real in my eyes I don’t understand how other people can’t see that but my point is, after Wanda’s hex fell through it’s probable they’re going with the comics storyline where the twins souls will reincarnate in the past in new families

Somehow the magically created sons, of WANDA, they developed souls, and their souls got place in Reincarnation.
In addition they were later, born somewhere in the world, born from a different mother, and raised in a different family.
Sunspot is a terrible combo with this card. You won't be powering up Sunspot until turn 5 at the minimum and at that point you'll want to be using that energy still for high cost cards
God i hated volume two so much 😭 felt like none of them were actually them. Gillen and mckelvie said it was supposed to be style over substance and i find it wasn’t even that. Am i alone in that perception?

always loved this character by chance found him in one of the first comics i picked up and i really hope he isn't casted with joe just because i dont see him in the character and how the trailer came out with him being portrayed in the show great vid tho nice to be reminded of the comics in my childhood

This is a nitpick - not unlike your podcast, mostly nitpicking - but "power" in Marvel Snap is what you need to win a location, while "energy" is what you need to play cards. Ramp cards like Wiccan give you more energy, not more power.

Yeah!!! Because in some religiouns the Demiurge is actually God who creates the whole universe. Though some portray the Demuirge as evil, but some portray it has a dual entity who is neither good nor bad. And actually some even portray the Demiurge as good.

I hate he's called Wiccan. That the kind of almost instantly out-of-touch name like "Cyborg", which is why you're gonna want to go for a pun even if you think your character isn't that generic AT THE TIME, it could be in the long run.
