What's your favorite Astarion line? 🧛
Why not? If I can walk in the sun, you can become all sunshine and roses. I'm sure of it.
@@migu5794 ooh good one
All of them, he's my favourite
“Ah ah ah. Let’s not do anything hilarious”
I work with horses full time and quote this almost daily 😂
“You’re not alone in this. None of us are”
Getting that one added to my rhapsody tattoo
"Of course, what fun! I'm going to fucking kill you"
this is what my brain see whenever someone requested something that beyond my abilities, aka, 'can you fix the internet?' lol
"What in the sweet hells were you thinking, activating that lance? I was right there! Gods, do you have any idea how much that hurt?"
I love this so much! Very iconic lol
he seems like such a genuine dude, absolute treasure of a person
can confirm, he really is!
He is just as nice, and wholesome as you expect. Moreso actually
I've met him twice; he's an absolute delight.
@@Jennough122 im hoping i can meet him at the NYC comic con this year for my birthday 🤞🏼
I worked his line at a con and can confirm, an absolute delight. A really genuine and kind human.
_"I'm flattered, but I think not. It's not you, you understand; it's me._
_I have standards."_
Is such a incredible reversal, what a good line.
I got hit with this in one playthrough and had to take a minute to process. The delivery is amazing too
I need to save that
glad i never got that rejection the multiple times i romanced astarion LOL
I was so crushed when he said this in one of my runthroughs 😭 Didn't take him long to change his mind though 😉
I took an emotional critical hit when i heard it the first time in my second playthrough and was planning to romance astarion
Astarion would totally joke about Withers needing to moisturize loool
and him being bald lmao
Or he'd do the old 'got your nose' then say 'oh wait you don't have one.'
"Well, apparently there's a limit. Somewhere between a nice summer's day and THE *FULL CONCENTRATED POWERS* OF THE *SUN*!"
Megamind is one of my favorite movies hahaha.
"Next time, just warn me before you do something stupid. At least then I can get out of the blast radius! Now, shall we go? Or do you have any other chaos you need to unleash here?"
Yep, that whole scene was comedy gold lmao. It's no wonder he's a fan favorite. Such a colorful and fun character with a lot of depth and personality.
ngl, this Line was the selling point of the game for me. I had entertained buying it, but watching that clip pushed me over into buying it later that afternoon 😂
This is my favourite line
I wouldnt mind if they do an animated BG3 series like Arcane (the animated League of Legends series on Netflix) and have the cast reprise their roles.
let's get Netflix on the phone
and having it be based around the characters backstories like arcane! imagine magistrate astarion in all his glory
oh god PLEASE
The things I‘d do for that to happen..
I would do horrible things for this...
Oh, he wants to do more Astarion?
Perfect! I'd love to get a phone call from an angry Astarion "Why wasn't I invited to your wedding?!"
During the reception😂
Get a cameo, and ask for that in the description! Would be after the fact but a ton of fun to have.
He's done some more Astarion in some DND games
Highrollers had a one shot game with all the character Va's
And Dimension 20 also had one with Astarion and Karlach
"apparently there's a limit. somewhere between a nice summers day, and the FULL CONCENTRATED POWER OF THE SUN!" forever quoting this
That scene will never NOT be funny...🤣
😅I live in Phoenix AZ so I get that complaint completely 😂🎉
5:56 "I think the charakter trope of the hedonistic vampire is a wonderful setup, so when the people spend the time to get to know him and see the story you actually develop is that he is a survivor of trauma. " ❤
I love so much that the "WHAT IN THE SWEET HELLS WERE YOU THINKING!" was because Neil said he wanted to try something crazier! And learning that the writers had Astarion more lowkey originally but in part b/c of things Neil was doing became more dandyesque. It's always so interesting to learn more about behind the scenes and how something/someone might never have existed if not for the contributions of multiple very talented people all coming together. Fate spins along as it should :)
also no one should be lowkey about having an entire monastery dropped on them and then revived. like idk i wouldn’t be cool with it
@@deepseasnailfish at least you got revived. That's gotta be worth something
I love the “this was a gift” line because he says it after drinking your blood and then again after killing Cazador. It was so meaningful
Mild Spoiler Warning for Astarion Origin:
Especially when you find out in his origin, the actual reason he drinks Tav/Durge's blood isn't because of hunger, but to test whether or not Cazador still has control over him. Since he ordered the spawn to never drink from 'thinking creatures'.
It's one of the few times his mask drops (especially early on). Such a good character!
"she screamed a lot you know... Your friend, Lindsay... What? I didn't kill her! God, you must think I'm some kind of monster. No. I just watched her die."
Where is that in the game?
It's not in the game, it's a line from his character in Hollyoaks. Though it does sound like something Ascended Astarion would say..@dominika3762
@@jessiewessie1450not even ascended astarion. spawn astarion would say this to an orphaned kid about their mother
Ok i gotta watch that show.
“Could be to kill, could be…to fvck?” 😂😂
Astarion crying as he was final free made me weep. I did ascend him at first, then saw what he became. Reloaded and saved him instead. Broke my heart
I don't really see the isuue he just has a new founded confidence but I understand if his new personality is to much for you..
Dw Neil, all of us Astarion girlies are screaming for more Astarion content, be it games, shows, whatever. We won't let him go either
The gays too 😔🤌
There's an actual play for Project Sigil here in RUclips where he and Sarah that does Karlach do a one shot as their characters. Aabria Iyengar is the DM. Brennan Lee Mulligan and Anjali Bhimani are the other players. I think it's the official D&D Wizards of the Coast channel but I can't look it up when typing a comment.
For me as a person who went through abuse Astarion and I went through something really similar not vampires for me but religious sexually abusive nutters, was imprisoned for thirty four years, been free four.
I found myself connecting to him a lot, I saw a lot of things he did in my own actions, it felt real. It didn’t feel fake to me like who wrote history knew how it really felt, it was almost therapeutic, as I didn’t get any justice to give Astarion his, I felt this surge of victory and joy and a big f u to Cazador that had me weeping but in a good way.
I know it doesn't change anything, but I'm so sorry you had to go through this 😢 and glad you're out. Hope you get to enjoy your freedom
I have a friend who went through 4 years of abuse trapped on an isolated farm and she also relates hard to Astarion's story and how well written he is. Fortunately her Cazador has a terminal illness so the world will soon be rid of him but not before he goes through a slow and painful decline.
😅 yeah I related to la'aziel, karlach, almost as much as astarion. The new drop of la'aziel and astarion are so satisfying 🎉
Neil and Astarion are a perfect example of when you love what you do, and you pursue it with all of your passion. props to Neil, and props to all of Larian for showing the gaming industry that you don't need to sacrifice quality to create a game universally beloved by all. no gimmicks, no micro transactions, no A-List celebrities, no shady tactics. just 100% pure love and passion.
Man, I am thankful for Neil and the writing team, because Astarion and how h e is, helped me through a very difficult time. I wish I could just hug Neil, tbh
It’s because of his performance that I bought BG3 in the first place. I saw that one clip of Astarion yelling “What the SWEET HELLS were you THINKING?!!” and was immediately intrigued.
Haha same! Bought the game because of Astarion. He was my favorite character before I even PLAYED the damned game.
Exactly the same here!!!
I saw a clip of that scene not knowing a single thing about the game and immediately decided to buy it from that alone. Thankfully i had just started a new job and could afford it. Best decision I've made in my adult life so far
His voice is so amazing I really cannot hear Neil when Astarion is screaming. Sometimes i even think its another voice actor since he changes his voice so much. What a legend
Omg, I thought it was just me! I agree 100%
Ita so heartwarming to see an actor as in love with their character as the fandom is 🥹 i hope hes able to play Astarion the way he wants to again!
The fly is such a moment stealer 🤣 Neil was having a moment and the fly just randomly goes "eeehh" 😂 but tbh Neil is the best his work is inspiring! 💖 he deserves all the award
some say he's still chasing that fly
Astarion become the face of Baldurs Gate 3 for me, is such an iconic character. Neil is so talented, thank you for giving life to this character!
What a charming guy! Neil did an amazing job. Astarion's character feels like a genuine person and not some 3D model with a voice behind it. He helped make the game feel believable, memorable, and fun to re-play. Love the interview/video!
thanks! More to come soon!
neil is so handsome, funny and awesome. I could watch him read a phonebook and be entertained.
Neil is a treasure. So humble and grateful for the career he has built. It's so wonderful to see him get the recognition that he deserves, cause this man works so hard.
Neil talking about his friend at 7:00 had me choking up, I feel that, man.
I lost a friend who was like an older brother to me years ago now, a disease took him long before his time. In as many ways as I can I've healed from it but seeing Neil share that experience of losing a dear friend and mist up over it too kicked that empathy nerve and had my own loss coming back to me a little all over again. It's great he could work some of his friend into this performance and give something of a tribute to him in that way.
I love that Astarion, an actual fucking vampire, thinks clowns are horrifying.
He won a award for a reason!! He is such amazing actor!!
Someone make an Astarion mod for him please, I want him to voice so much more for the character. 😭
I'm working on it, lol. Making a game spanning quest mod to become a Lich and still be with AA without becomingnhis spawn. You give him your phylactery instead.
I loved that he got annoyed by the fly cause that's also me when there's a fly inside a place lol
I really hope he can play Astarion again 😭 he is truly a gift
Astarion and Karlach deserve their own TV - show. I love these characters and the actors really bring them to live.
speaking of Karlach... maybe keep an eye on the channel over the next few weeks
"It's time to try living again" was exactly the line I asked Neil to write with his signature when I got to meet him at MCM because *wow*. That line moved me in such a fundamental way, I freaking sobbed during the whole scene.
What's so fun about this is it's so clear how in love with the character he is. He genuinely enjoyed this
All the love for Neil 🫶🏼✨💕!!!
A spin-off show with Astarion as the main character would probably be the best thing ever!
"...this group is full of weirdos" - it's funny because it's true :D
Every character was a masterpiece, but Astarion is definitely my favorite.
I rate this video 10/10. A completely unbiased review 😎
I really want to hear Neil say the “Boulder punching asshole” line from Resident Evil Village in his Astarion voice
WE LOVE YOU, NEIL ♥
Neil can’t let go of Astarion? Shucks! Most of us can’t
On my first play of BG3 I wasn't a big fan of Astarion. Had an option to kill him and took it. Second time around I kept him and I'm so glad. Easily one of the best companion stories. Brilliantly performed. 👏
Can 100% say that I bought this game for Neil's performance as Astarion.
That man channels Astarion as no one else can. He could easily play a live version.
He seems like such a lovely person. And he gave a wonderful performance.
i’m in love with astarion i hope i see him again in more future games
You can tell how much his work and Astarion means to Neil, every time he's interviewed or anything like that, he talks passionately at length in the best way, they mean the world to him and its so heartwarming to see.
To be fair that last quote could have been any of the companion characters
Got him with the Hollyoaks line 😂. I remember the first time i saw Neil in something but it was years earlier. It was a show called as if. Oof, i feel old
The whole cast did an amazing job at their roles I couldn't imagine anyone else voicing these characters and bringing them to life.
You know, I am willing to bet that this man would be so fucking willing to do some lines for a modder someday in the near future. He seems so fucking genuine.
Was totally thinking the same thing. Would be so awesome! Have modders do expansions to continue on with the story and he (and the other voice actors/actresses) would reprise their roles. I could see him doing it for sure! Because he's very passionate about the fanbase, game, story, and character.
He actually super supported Fallout: London mod and did do a few lines for that mod :D
@@klemenskof Wow, that's really cool!
Neil such an amazing actor and humble person i can watch and listen him hours and hours
love him love this type of video
More coming very soon!
On my 4th playthrough i started befriending Astarion more and found he really has a great character arc and growth. His interaction with a Dark Urge who is seeking redemption and freedom is especially good.
Neil sounds like such a perfect fit for Astarion because Astarion was written after him in many ways
I know people absolutely adore Astarion... but honestly, I have never really liked the character that much. However Neil Newbon... I absolutely adore this man. He has such a bright and uplifting personality that shines through every time you see him speak. He makes me want to love Astarion, only because he plays him.
wow people are so different
You don't need to let him go! This character is so loved there will be endless opportunities for appearances in character of course Darling
The shapechanger delivery and the one for the monastery cannon is just too damn good. Neil deserves all the love he gets for his work with Astarion, and more.
Love the character, adore the performer. Neil’s the best
That thumbnail is beyond cursed
I laughed my arse off at the Weirdos line because he really couldn't have expressed it any better.
Neil is the most wholesome, funny and amazing human bean ever. I love him so much and I'm so glad I picked up bg3 because of Astarion, wich led me to Neil and his community. His bg3 playthrough with Tom is always the highlight of the day, if not week, for me. Absolutely adore him
My first playthrough couldn’t help but send up Astarion to the clown because I just knew his reaction would be hilarious and it didn’t disappoint. 💀
Astarion is one of the reasons Fictophilia is a real thing 😂
I'm glad Neil is still as obsessed with Astarion as I am xD
Something I liked about Asterion is that when trying to play a good Durge, more than anyone else, he seems genuinely concerned with the Durge’s struggle.
I understand Neil, I can't let go of him either - not that I ever would... Hands down my favourite character of all time - I've been playing games for nearly 20 years. Such a genuinely fun, deep and complex character 🩷
8:01 Why is there a very subtle “what the dog doin?”
Nothin much, hbu?
I'm all for always having new stories and characters, but I desperately want more Astarion in anything.
The fact that he loves the character because he loved his friend 🥺
I’m currently playing Baldur’s gate 3 while watching this on repeat smile 😊
Slay queen ❤
He even looks his character😂
Just gonna say the amount of lines they recorded is insane 😂 what bigger than any movie, maybe like long run TV series
The line he says when being forced on stage… felt that in my soul
Around 6:15, the medusa tattoo on his arm becomes rather prominent. not because of how the camera is angled or how neil is posed, but the subject matter. “we’re not alone in this, none of us are”
I can’t believe I hated him at first but hearing him cry and scream after becoming free made me change my ways about astarion😭😭
8:28
Absolutely based, Neil really is an absolute treasure
hearing him speak as astarion and then seeing him as walker in hollyoaks is wild lmao
I just recently played we happy few and mid game I was like "Wait a sec..... wait... WAIT..... ASTARION!?"
A Baldur's Gate animated series with all the VA's is an... absolute... must!
7:10 got me in tears. God bless his friend, and what a perfect tribute. Love Neil, he’s such a perfect genuine guy. ❤
Such a great voice actor. So much personality and charm, just oozing from him
Amazing game. Still replaying it, and lauging about it with my D&D group. My boyfriend and I have even done a co-op playthrough for a different experience. Each playthrough theres something new that pops out at me that I have to pause and rush over to him to laugh about together. Absolute gold!
Still the best line involving the clown comes from Minthara. "Give the word and I shall kill the clown; we would be praised as heroes" Moments later after the attack. Ah a shapeshifter a pity I thought we killed a real clown.
And if you have her pick up each of the clown parts, she makes a comment/pun about each piece 😂
He looks like Astarion
He has such a unique voice.
An animation or cgi movie with astarion would be fantastic
As a nonbinary person, Neil voicing his appreciation for Larian including they/them makes me admire him even more.
Neil is such a cool dude
"God dammit Anders" literally everyone
Hands down my favorite character
Great writing for all the characters, and great voice acting from them all as well. None of the characters were 1-note, flat, 2-dimensional, etc. They all had their own personalities, each felt genuine.
Nice video idea, good editing, great guest!! Loved it
thanks! More coming very soon!
Neil is such a treasure ❤
Cant let go of the character. play him in your next dnd campaign. As a gm my self id be thrilled to have you playing astarion in one of my dnd campaign. But i think my other players would be fighting each other over who gets to romance your pc. Lol
that was so charming :D
The male Tav on 1:16 looks like Oliver Jackson-Cohen 😂
I love Neil and Astarion 🥹
