As a writer, I can't express how much I appreciate that Neil credits the writers every single time someone talks about how great a character Astarion is. He was absolutely elemental in how great a character Astarion is, but deep down at the core, it always is the writers! It's so right!

I guess because it doesn't have as many options to play the game differently as BG3 has. And I fell in love with the voice acting. I found what Neil said about the serious moments with Astarion so illuminating. I always suspected there was a lot of intentionality in the duality of Astarion's character. The facade Astarion is so silly and flippant, and it's entertaining to many and off-putting to some, and also it's masterfully crafted, especially when you get to the moments when the real Astarion comes out. The contrast is stunning. The first moment I saw the real Astarion come out was in the scars scene (my first Tav saw them for the first time the morning after she made what seemed like a poor drunken decision at a certain party, lol). It was so unexpected. His whole vibe changes. His distant expression... the sad haunted voice when he talks about how he got the scars... I was really pulled in by that, and as that side of him came out more and more as his story unfolded, I started to see him differently and took him a lot more seriously for the rest of the game. He went from comic relief to probably the most emotionally impactful character I've ever encountered in a game before.

Delighted to find out Amelia's apparently a Discworld fan. Had a soft spot for those books ever since I first stumbled across them, and one of the reasons I love BG3's writing is that it gives me that same feeling-- managing to find humor even when things look darkest.

I always took Jaheira for granted in Act 2.......... One day I said "I am going to finish this game" (Mind you at that point I had 1k hours on just act 1 and 2, never daring to finish act 3 or got too overwhelmed) ...... I noticed many revolved around Jaheira, so I permanently used her......... In the end I cried a lot at her story. While others made me emotional too, Jaheira really tugged my heartstring. She became someone very special to me. (I never played BG1 or BG2 or any D&D before) Now my favourite will forever be Jaheira. The way they shifted her attitude from act 2 to act 3 is.... I have no words. She is so sassy and I LOVE her attitude. I wish I had a friend like her in RL. I speak more of Jaheira's character, but it's the voice acting, the way she speaks, talks, evolves as a human and Tracy has become my favourite. I have not known any of this cast. And I love every single one of their work.
Haarlep commentary gave me bellyache. That was too funny. Poor Raphael actor

British games have been so good lately. For example, both BG3 and Thank Goodness You’re Here, while wildly different experiences, both share a commitment to creating a unique thing that is all about the creators’ passion. Not sales numbers. And that’s what makes them great. Wondering what the next game from Hello Games will be like.
