What is the BEST Gale quote you can think of?
A HAND
I see the art of eloquence is alive and well. I'm awed, impressed, and a little bit scared of you right now.
The day I shave this beard, Tara, is the day I shave you.
My personal favourite is "No rest for the dashing? pish posh!" The way he delivers the pish posh does it for me! 😂
STOP LICKING THE DAMN THING!
STOPLICKINGTHEDAMNTHING
of course gale's va would say "absolutely jubilant"
IT'S THE FACT THAT HE KNOWS ABOUT THE BLOODWEAVE IS SENDING ME
I think Tim is definitely the most like his character in real life without trying. Y'know?
Like, Neil plays Astarion brilliantly, but not-trying-to-be-in-character Neil is a lot further away from Astarion than not-trying-to-be-in-character Tim is from Gale. The bit at 4:20 where he's like "Absolutely jubilant with that" is pure Gale.
Just look at the massive book and trinket collection behind him. 100% wizard tower
how could they not pick the "like what a CHILD?!" line in regards to the Halsin conversation. That line and delivery had me crying
He IS the actual Gale, he really has the same humour and attitude :)
Altogether, Larian did an incredible job at making one of the best CRPG ever.
Still apalled by the "it's an anomaly" from other devs - say it's a very hard standard to hold others devs to, all you want, but it inevitably sets the new standards.
Watch the DnD one shot they did for BG3, if you didn't, he exhales Gale almost effortlessly it's almost as if we were watching him in the VA boot reading actual lines, just fantastic how he speaks with the same intelligent sophisticated manner as Gale.
He also cohosts a podcast where they talk British folklore. Tim and Gale really are like kindred spirits 😂 It's called "Folklands" if anyone is interested, it's worth a listen if you like that kind of thing! 💫🔮
Tim did say that that's how he approached Gale. So Gale is Tim.
@@j3llyf0xyeah if gale had a podcast it would he that 😂
It’s weird hearing Gale speak in third person like this
Gods I knew that was the dad voice coming out with "stop licking the damn thing!"
This is such a fun series, would definetly love to see Emma Gregory play this too!
OH yes please!
Yeah Jen would be great also!
Oh, yes, pleeease, I need more Emma-as-Minthara in my life 😭
It looks like he's sitting in a wizard's tower
my absolute favorite gale banter is with Karlach. "You can READ?"
SAME! 😂
Tim mentioning bloodweave was something I didn’t know I needed.
Expecting Tim to remember his lines as Gale is like expecting you to remember everything you said in 3rd grade. That's how much he is just "Gale" but in real life. 😂
My next suggested video after watching this is “Messing with Gale for 8 minutes straight” 😂
I cannot BELIEVE I never noticed Tim was in good omens??? I've seen this show at the very least four or five times and never clocked it - oh my god!
I love Tim and Gale. Even though theyre basically the same person
Literally if he would grow out his hair and bread he would look exactly like Gale, perfect casting such a gentleman!
He tells anecdotes in the same way Gale does
From a person who like many others found Gale too "chatty" I came to like Gale when I decided to give him a chance. It's more depth to him and the more you learn the more interesting he becomes. And of course how can anyone hate the way he speaks back to Astarion 😂
Favourite voiceline is with Astarion and Gale talking about Tav :
Astarion: So, how was your night with Gale? Did you have a long, hard debate?
Gale: Ignore him. Astarion envies the depth of our bond because he's of a shallower inclination.
Astarion: Snort.
When Tim Downie talks about the quiet ending for Gale and getting the holidays, it reminds me of when I had to choose between taking control of the Absolute or not: "Controlling the Absolute is a full-time job, no more holidays and exploring the world" 🤣
“I’d like to see them get some air time” in reference the death sounds….. oh Tim. Gale’s death sounds have made quite a bit of air time. He’s cursed not only to eat magical items, but also to drink an abundance of healing potions.
I love when voice actors say they would love to play a particular character again
It’s unfair to expect him to remember any of his lines. Every dialogue with him is like Moby Dick. I only hope he was paid by the line.
he knew the line of others more than himself XD
Even if he'd gotten every single one wrong, I could just listen to him all day long. His voice is just so warm and comforting 💜 But on a semi-related note, now I crave to see one of these with Andrew Wincott too!
For whatever reason Tim’s voice and the way he talks just brings me so much joy. Just a delightful guy
I would be absolutely jubilant to listen to an audiobook if he was the reader.
I agree. Good thing he has a podcast! It's absolutely a treat.
Tim has such a wonderful voice, larian did a fantastic job with their casting ❤
Wasn’t a huge gale fan after his bizarre cryptic advances at release but after recently watching him play a dnd one shot I’m just in love with this sweet man who is his voice actor LOL I’m ready to redownload and give him another shot as a party member.
Oh you should, he is a delight as a companion. Very supportive if you do a good run, sticks with you if you do an evil run, funny, witty, and with really great companion observations, and if you decide to romance him, it's adorable. It is funny how people were turned away by his early gameplay bug, and now that he's fixed he's seen as a slow burn romance option that can be a challenge to crack.
but of course I licked the spider, sorry husbando
me liking gale so much is my biggest surrprise playing this game, i had him a bit becuz i felt like i needed a inteligence based class in my group, and it end up being the character that completed my way of playing in DnD seeting chararter, loved him soooo much and i happily licked the spider a couple of time just to bug off gale xD
tim downie is in good omen? uuuuughhh i need to see this shooooow, but i dont wana give money to jeff either >:c
Gale saying something like “being a god is great and all, but the hours are awful” needs to be patched in
Also the best canon couple with Gale is with Minthara, ngl. UNDERRATED. He’s the only one who can get a hug out of her!
When does that happen?
@@jamie_u it’s an option only if you play as origin gale and happens at the very end
I shouldn't be surprised he knows the ship name "bloodweave"
OMG he was in Good Omens 2??? Didn’t know I could love him even more! ❤
Considering how difficult his dialogues were, then... it's very commendable to remember the moments.
man i could listen to this guy read the phonebook i love his voice so much
Just started playing this game for the first time. Gale is definitely one of my favourite characters.
Alert!! Alert!! He knows about Bloodweave guys, sound the alarm, hide the fanarts hide the fanfics RUUUUNNN!!!! 😭😭🙌🙌🔥🔥
Gale’s spider line is different based on whether or not you pass the constitution check
I was wondering how you got the ‘did you want to talk about your childhood line’
The best Gale line is just the simple response in camp when he agrees to replace someone in the party and just say "Magical."
Its just the perfect encapsulation of a character who is charming and earnest and somehow likeable in spite of being a completely pompous douche.
Yeah I ship Gale and Lae’zel too… mostly because of how much Dev seems to hate Gale
Lae’zel or Minthara since they both seem to hate wizards in general and Gale specifically. 😂
I was today years old when I learned that my Astarion playthrough, where I romance Gale, was not as unpopular as I thought. Bloodweave...
Bloodweave forever
Tim Downie is the man.
He did such a fantastic job with Gale’s character! This video was fun! ☺️
I can't imagine anyone more perfect to play Gale, Tim did such an incredible job in bringing him to life. Easily my character, I play him as an Origin character all the time. Also thrilled that he knows about Bloodweave, my absolute favourite couple.❤
Also, loved him as Marlowe in Upstart Crow, such a brilliant show.
I love this series ! Tim did such a brilliant job in the game and I loved every bit of Gale, he seems so lovely person as well, the type I want to sit down with for a nice and dinner and chat all night
I jad absolutely no idea that I'd seen Tim pop up in so many things beforez least of all peep show
i saw him in a show or movie once and was like "holy crap thats gale!"
I could just listen to him talk all day ! So cool.
I was so proud of him on that stream since it was his first time playing. I would love to actually play D&D with him. I tried to channel my inner-Gale/Tim once for a group of tweens I played with at my library program I put on. They spent the whole time trying to kill Gale. 😂
Gale and Lae'zel are my favorite
I would listen to this man read War & Peace, with absolute joy.
I love his voice. He's such a delight. Gale was my #2 companion pick (Karlach was #1)
Oh, this is wonderful! Thank you so much for doing these videos with the cast. (And I'm SO excited to see the custom Gale funko I made him still on display on his bookshelf!) Tim is so lovely and talented!
That's so cute 😍
I had all the answers I think I can't be helped 😂 congrats Tim for your score 🥳. Loved the explanation of the professor being the best ending because teachers have holidays 😂
Now that we have mod support, we need mods of Gale in his many different mostchaces, which were shown at the end.
He’s so incredible 💜🔥
can you hear me Clem Fandango!?
I speak, they burn.
Wish they’d cross the names out fully when you’re trying to guess who said what line…
Tim is not beating the allegations that he is just Gale irl!:D (that's an impressive bookcase behind him, btw!)
yes gale!
omg he was in good omens! how did i not notice!
Mister Dekarios!!! 😁😁
Now keep in mind, he probably recorded a lot of different lines for each scene, so he may not remember which lines were kept in and used in the final product as sometimes lines are cut entirely, depending on which ones ended up sounding better, like the writers felt a need to revise.
Doesn't remember the specifics, but DEFINITELY remembers the character 8D a number of those "not quite" answers are totally in character 8D
I'd like to hear the instructions for retrieving the resurrection scroll if he dies
Aaaah the young Kenny Loggins but with sparkling fingers. Seriously, compare the pictures side by side. Exact replica.......danger zone
I’m down for making Gale a God
yepieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
MYSTRA
My friends you have to change your name!! theres already a channel called "Fall Damage" with 100k subs that shows up when looking for your channel!
IMO Gale has the best voice actor, much better than Astarion's imho.
What about just appreciating all their work instead of comparing one to another?
@@ohnoski_ Who says you cannot do both? Why did only Neil get an award? because he was compared to all the rest...
first !!
2nd??
Gale never shuts up so not fair
Gale has a voice? I thought he was just a hand...
5:40 you do know that Latin is a dead language and there for there is no 1 correct way to pronounce it, right? there are no Roman people that still speak latin the way they did back then, there for we have no idea how it was pronounced!
To give more context to what he means because he's discussed this. He first did it with an Italian accent, while at home inside a closet during covid while it was hot outside, and it took him ages because the list is massive. Then when he handed it in, they told him he had to do it again, this time without the accent. Which he obviously did, but that is why it sticks out in his mind.
@Natala00 Still, there is no 1 right way to speak it, though an Italian accent might be the closest to it there is. On the other hand, I do kinda get what you mean, the way I learned to speak Latin was with the pronunciation of my home country
he knows bloodweave. i can die in peace now knowing this information
