@@Brentqvaleenjoyer I would agree, but I think QOTSA continually brings more to the table than Clutch. Also, as much as I love Clutch, I think their work tends to feel a little "cheesy" sometimes.
This song is supposedly about his wife at the time (now ex wife) who can be seen at :27. Her two girlfriends right of her, and even their daughter, are in shock he performed this in front of them on national TV. Which probably tells you all you need to know about that relationship.
@@shnibzzz I went to Blood Red Shoes gig in Amsterdam, and before them, there was this guy with a guitar and a beat machine performing. Yet there was something about him; he was too good for a supporting act. Later after the concert, I saw him in the merch kiosk helping sell Blood Red Shoes t-shirts. Little did I know, he was Mickey Shuman with his solo project GLU. Mindblowing.
Josh Homme has always put together great musicians for the many iterations of QOTSA, but this is the tightest (and coolest) yet - poised for world domination!
Josh is really amazing, he really is a genius and his vocal range is effortless!! The whole band are such talented musicians!! They are really something special, I can see why Dave was drawn to them way back when.
LYRICS I sat by the ocean And drank a potion, baby, to erase you Face down in the Boulevard Yet I couldn't face you There ain’t no use in crying It doesn't change anything, so baby, what good does it do? Your friends, they all sympathize Maybe, I don’t need them to Imagined I'd be your one and only Instead of the lonely one You, me and a lie Silence is closer, we’re passing ships in the night There’s nowhere to run away, said "Boy, if you want love, you’ll have to go and find it with someone new Do you know who you really are? I can imagine. For sure. Joshua Homme, thank you for being the best defibrillator in existence (I really would have liked to interview you whilst you were here, Feb 2024). I love ya x ❤
This guy can do no wrong in my eye's fkn luv Josh,, fab line-up too,, keep it this way,, and carry on as you are,, brought me you for many year's hopefully many more,,, 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
I Know awards mean nothing but come on! They deserve a Grammy for what they put out! Nom for Villains lets hope its in bag x They were unreal in Dublin and cannot wait for Finsbury Park!! xxxxxx
I hate to admit it but I'm an old fart rock and roller from WAY back! Queens have me entranced!! Daniel Raitliff had a good one, but Josh Holmes and QOTSA have kept me captive since "No One Knows"!!
@@SkysurferJr Mikey Shoes is five times the technical bassist Oliveri was but you have to acknowledge and respect the necessary crazy that Nick brought. QOTSA is better than it's ever been but I'm glad we got what we got out of Nick.
Zac Miller absolutely. Nick was incredible and probably made Queens what they are today, without him they probably wouldn’t be nearly as popular. i just believe that this era with Mikey is a much more fresh and exciting time for the band. i do greatly appreciate Nick still.
I want to thank Dave Grohl for introducing this band to me. He raved about them in an interview and was absolutely right in his assessment. They are incredible.
Mindblowing. The most important rock band in the last 20 years.
the most important band for the last 20 years..
Debatable, Clutch is on the same level as QOTSA if not better when it comes to straight rock and roll.
@@Brentqvaleenjoyer I would agree, but I think QOTSA continually brings more to the table than Clutch. Also, as much as I love Clutch, I think their work tends to feel a little "cheesy" sometimes.
I would put muse in front of them for me, but still they’re one of the best bands
Yeah them and Foo Fighters are amazing bands
I'm obsessed with this song
it rox
It’s so addictive!😂

The bass in this album fucking blows my mind.
It's incredibly inventive and suits the melody very well
Mikey Shoes is a monster 🤘🏼

This one is quickly becoming my favorite song from this band!!
I know eh, it's just got it all!!!
absolutely
new favourite drummer... he hits his drumkit so fucking tight and powerful and his groove on 'I appear missing' blew my mind. he´s machine
His work on the mars voltas first album is absolutely incredible, you should give it a listen if you like him
Jon motherfuckin Theodore!
@DasKocbuchlein Sorry to dissapoint you, but I think Dave Grohl recorded the drums for Like Clockwork
DasKochbuchlein u should listen 2 the 1st 2 mars volta albums. He kills it on there 2
I love how hard he smacks the snare.. conviction and perfection... And perfect timing , of course....love him almost as much as Mr.Grohl....
Josh Homme has always put together great musicians for the many iterations of QOTSA, but this is the tightest (and coolest) yet - poised for world domination!
10 years on and this still rocks like not much else

josh and Dave have been friends since josh first band kyuss i think :)
It's not effortless: he switches to falsetto and I would like it better if he didn't (have to).
wow, its been 6 yrs already when like clockwork came out... time flies ;_;
Discovered Qotsa one or two months ago. They are amazing.
12 yrs. Still a gem
bass line is legend
I just saw them live in Fort Lauderdale about a month ago - best show I’ve ever seen
Ditto!
The best lyrics of any QOTSA song
Do you know who you really are…are you sure it’s really you 🔥
One of my favorites to play on bass! Love it! Great bass line and fun!
If I hadn't heard the acoustic version of this first, not sure I'd like it as much.
Acoustic version is far better.
@@Spookyaki1 .. this is still really sweet man
I stumbled across this ., now listen to it almost every day and gets better every time .
Just quality
David Leatherman had great musical acts on his show. What an honor to be on his closing reigning late night TV.
A great song which never got much airplay on our stations. It has quickly become one of my favorites.
LYRICS

And drank a potion, baby, to erase you
Face down in the Boulevard
Yet I couldn't face you
There ain’t no use in crying
It doesn't change anything, so baby, what good does it do?
Your friends, they all sympathize
Maybe, I don’t need them to
Imagined I'd be your one and only
Instead of the lonely one
You, me and a lie
Silence is closer, we’re passing ships in the night
There’s nowhere to run away, said
"Boy, if you want love, you’ll have to go and find it with someone new
Do you know who you really are?
Are you sure it’s really you?"
Lies are a funny thing
They slip through your fingertips
Because they never happened to you
Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view
Imagined I'd be your one and only
Instead of the lonely one

Silence is closer, we’re passing ships in the night
You, me and a lie
Silence is closer, we’re passing ships in the night
End to the night, left with nowhere to hide
Closer and closer, we’re crashing ships in the night
Thanks for putting lyrics up.😎
“Do you know who you really are…are you sure it’s really you” is one of my favourite lyrics ever.
Josh Homme’s passion is *outstanding* 🙏🏽💯
Amazing bass line.
Couple of chills experienced.
And they are all together super tight on tour in 2023! Such talent!
As simple as it may be I love the slide guitar in this.
youuuuuuu and meeeeee and the lieeeeeeeeeaaaaaaah What a great band
Brilliant! QOTSA has the most unique sound and Homme has a remarkably versatile voice, love them!
Musically, one of the tightest bands you'll eve hear. Josh Homme is a rock god.
Killer riff!

This song is perfect
That bass sounds amazing
This doesn't feel like 11 years ago, still feels fresh. Oh, yeah, getting older. Now get off my lawn......
This one is my fav!
Wicked basslines and not too shabby slidework. Bunch of rather musical blokes.
The new album is so dope
I can imagine. For sure. Joshua Homme, thank you for being the best defibrillator in existence (I really would have liked to interview you whilst you were here, Feb 2024). I love ya x ❤
Great song. I listen to at least once a day to get my rock vibe going
Man, these guys are for real. Impressed
i've played that bass... my friend owned one and it was one of the best basses I've ever played.
Everything about this gives me shivers down my spine 🧡
Great music is still being made!
I love you Joshua ❤️🥰 that buzzcut suited him so well back then. Wish he would bring it back someday before he goes completely bald lol
Cool lyrics, cool storyline.
Key change in this song is perfect 🙂
There's a key change?

Impressionante como todas as bateras são agressivas mesmo com músicas mais calmas... que banda foda..
Muito foda. Adoro essa banda 🤝🤝🤝

It never works.......
Jon is a monster
Reference: Mars Volta
Edit: came back to say I love this band with my heart and soul
Very original
And will be one of the greats
Love Mikey Shoes at 3:21! lol
All Queens lineups have been awesome but if Jon Theodore and Oliveri had played together that would've been heaven.
toby barraclough but Michael Shuman!!! i love Oliveri but Shuman is so much better imo, so young and cool and Oliveri was a wife beater
@@SkysurferJr Mikey Shoes is five times the technical bassist Oliveri was but you have to acknowledge and respect the necessary crazy that Nick brought. QOTSA is better than it's ever been but I'm glad we got what we got out of Nick.
