Pass the American Offshore Worker Fairness Act

Passing the American Offshore Worker Fairness Act (AOWFA) will ensure American offshore jobs go to American mariners first.
It’s simple: AOWFA holds foreign vessels working in U.S. waters to the same rules and standards as American vessels, giving U.S. mariners a fair chance to compete for U.S. energy jobs.
Right now, foreign vessels are exploiting a loophole in U.S. law to hire foreign workers at shockingly low wages-as little as $30 a day. This practice bypasses key safety and background checks, undermining the integrity and security of our domestic energy industry.
American mariners are highly trained, fully compliant, and deeply committed to their work. They undergo rigorous safety training and meet strict credentialing standards, ensuring quality and reliability on the job. It’s time to make sure their skill and dedication aren’t undercut by unfair competition.
All vessels-foreign or domestic-working in US waters should follow the same laws.
