I had a severe case of dandruff every single winter. I started using dandruff shampoos and didn't work. So I tought: well, let's wash them more often. I started washing them every day and things got even worse. My scalp was inflamated and irritated, i continuously started scratching over my ears and behind my neck. Then, understanding that wasn't caused by a fungus or something, I did some reverse engineer and I tought: well, let's do the exact opposite. I started washing my hair every 4-5 days using only cold water and minimal shampoo. After a month or so the dandruff totally disappeared and I finally feel good. Try!
Yes! I’m glad you said this because I have thought the same thing..I feel like it helps kind of right after I wash my hair but that’s it. The day after is horrible because it’s all dried crusty flakes which intern makes it itch even more!! I’m actually going to try using Listerine I have a feeling it will work better. Ughhh I hope this helps 😩
I suffered with bad dandruff for years. I tried everything. Then I tried tea tree oil. 10-15 drops in warm water. I wash my hair every 3-4 days. Ordinary reg shampoo. Rinse off then a final rinse with about 250mls with the tea tree oil. Immediate relief from itching, no more flakes. I really suffered with this condition to the point I stopped wearing black clothes. I wear black now with total confidence. No more white flakes
Yeah it’s likely to be some kind of hormone or chemical imbalance (she mentions puberty in this video) and I’ve only ever had it when my thyroid is out of whack

Ecks Dee you have tried 100s of product for years... try selsun blue shampoo for just a month and see.. i had the worst kind of dandruff problem it worked for me.. u will see the difference in just 3 weeks
@@macydiy9697 How exactly do you use apple cider vinegar? I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis about two years ago and I have scalp buildup, which flakes off from time to time, but eventually returns again. Frequent hair washing sometimes improves the whole situation, but sometimes it's simply useless. "Sitting" forever on hormonal drugs is also not a very cool idea ...
@@yasbitch I put it in a squeeze bottle (like grillin condiment bottle) and squeeze onto the scalp, then gently massage, and let sit for 1-3 min, rinse, you can follow that with your normal routine if you want or just use it alone!
@@macydiy9697 Do I understand correctly that you use the concentrate without diluting it with water, for example? Will it cause discomfort for damaged skin?
Dandruff makes me want to skip social events and I hate it when people talk to me because they only stare at my dandruff. You think you have it hidden, but other people still see😞
Guys, try apple cider vinegar. I do an apple cider vinegar soak at the roots of my hair and let it sit for awhile. Then I wash out the vinegar with shampoo. It REALLY helps!
For those saying there are no answers in this video. There are clearly answers, you’re just not listening. Dr Sandra Lee’s recommendations: She said dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) is caused by fungal infection so look for shampoos with ketoconazole, zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide etc. in them.
I realised that if I wash my hair too often I can get dandruff as well. So what I think is to wash your hair just in the middle required. I've figured out that for myself I have to wash them every two days, not more not less, and REGULARLY. Keep doing it. Because when I miss the cycle, I always get dandruff (especially when it's hot, I live in a tropical area, so it plays a lot in it)! So that's one idea of how I've got rid of them almost entirely (there's almost nothing now, unless I break the cycle of washing every 2 days) and my hair stay in good shape as well! PS: If you have lots of dandruff at the beginning, and you try my idea, do not tie your hair in any way! When your skin is almost cleared, you can start to tie you hair but not much. Let your hair and especially the skin of head, breathe. Otherwise if you tie your hair it will be more favorable for the dandruff to "live" because the area will have a higher temperature+less air. PPS: This all based on my experience and people around me. Maybe it will not work for people living in areas if big temperature differences? But maybe you can still try.
I had horrible flakes but I used Selsun Blue and it was almost gone. So, I used it a second time. It's completely gone now. It even works for the face.
finally a dermatologist confirming I should wash as much as I need. I only recently found out I don't have dandruff but actually scalp eczema and have had it for 6+ years which caused my scalp to have pimples, scabs, a LOT of scabs actually and it was constantly BURNING. So it wasn't just dandruff, scalp eczema has dandruff as a possible side effect, but is not the same as dandruff, I just thought burning scalps were part of dandruff for years so that was NOT fun. The assistant doctor told me to shampoo LESS, only once a week! because I said my scalp has become way oilier since my scalp irritation started because washing it helped it calmed down so I slowly had to wash more which makes my hair get oily fast, but washing once a week never worked and made the burning worse, so now I wash whenever I notice my hair or scalp needs it, the medical shampoo I got also didn't work and at first was too weak and then started irritating my scalp aswell, so luckily I found a soothing DIY hair mask from flaxseed gel that I would apply focusing on my scalp area, and it got rid of most of my scabs :) It's still not 100% gone, but I might try to use coal tar once in a while to get a nice cleanse in there, as the flaxseed just helps with scabs and soothing, not really with the dirt. Atleast now I know that shampooing when needed is not dumb and my reaction was correct! :D
I never had dandruff until last year. I noticed it about 5 months into being pregnant with my daughter. I'm convinced my hormone change contributed to developing this gross and annoying stuff!
Omg this is me. During the last part of my pregnancy and after giving birth was when mine started acting up and I’m still struggling 🙃 almost 2 years now
Guys! Use this; Spray bottle- half apple cider vinegar and half water, spray on scalp- leave in for 20-30mins, rinse then wash as normal!😊👍 natural and cheap, and it frigin works guys i swear lol
I've always suffered with dandruff since I was small & still do to this day. What I notice that brings it back is using new products & what I've noticed that helped is tea tree oil, & coconut oil. Anything moisturizing. I was my hair with head & shoulders & it keeps it at ease
@@lenababyyy1482 I have used Actavis. I dont know if its available in your country, but look for any shampoo that has 2% Ketoconazole. You might need a prescription; I get it from my doctor for psoriasis.
I started exfoliating my scalp (once a week) I just mix Epsom salt with my shampoo to make a paste and make sure to gently scrub my scalp with it I never really use shampoo on my hair itself just the scalp, but this was the only thing that helps me manage and keep it under control (and it makes my hair softer)
The Dr. knows what she’s talking about 👍🏾 I also recommend to people to divide the hair into (4 sections) and section by section part the hair and use STRIDEX PADS ( buy at Walmart) to Gently exfoliate and cleanse the scalp... You’ll be AMAZED!! I’ve other tips that vary case by case but this Dr. is telling you the facts. Good Luck 😘
I had extreme dandruff for years. It was so embarrassing to go to the hair salon for hair cuts. I tried every over the counter dandruff shampoo. My stylist even recommended shampoos from the salon. Nothing worked and some even made it worse. I finally tried Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength for severe dandruff. IT WORKS!!! I've been using it over a year now and still no flakes.
Regular Head and Shoulders uses pyrithione (sp?) zinc as the anti-dandruff agent. Clinical Strength Head and Shoulders uses the same anti-dandruff ingredient that’s used in Selsun Blue. (Can’t remember what it’s called but it’s a completely different chemical.)
I never had dandruff problem growing up...Once I started college I started producing it and it freaked me out, someone told me that it might be stress which I believe is some what true...or because I was going to the gym a lot so the sweat was producing it ( I really don't know). Once my scalp was full with dandruff I realized it started around my eyebrows and nose and I didn't think it was dandruff... it was very frustrating. I now use aloe vera as a hair mask and face mask and it really helps my scalp and skin all together, it doesn't take it away but it does help you grow hair and keep your scalp moist and healthy. I even have an aloe vera plant at home!!! Watching this video helped me realized that dandruff happens anywhere not only my scalp...Thank you.
😐 same. When I first started I NEVER had any type of dandruff scalp irritation. Torwards the beginning of my 2nd semester, I noticed it. Also think it could of been an allergic reaction from what I did in class. But it's been very very stressful being full time student, plus work, and other personal things. I use this shampoo (Jamaican black castor oil) with castor oil, with Apple cider vinegar, peppermint oil and tree oil. Head n shoulders didnt work, nor did selsum. So far it's cut back, I wana try a hair mask? But I'm not experience with any of that stuff.
I always thought that having thicker hair was a culprit too. My sister has thin hair, never has dandruff and I have super thick hair and have ALWAY struggled with mild dandruff.
I really suffered for 8 months. Raised red ridges itchy itchy, then flat scaly patches. T GEL maximum strength. I let it sit 5 min. Just used 2x and saw major difference. Head and shoulders with almond oil every other day. Clear as a bell. So relieved
Here is what I tried: Use mild shampoo every other day by diluting it with water Apply some oil during noon or evening. This is just to prevent hair becoming dry with constant wash More importantly, always cover your scalp with a cloth. I mean all the time. Step 3 really reduced reduced my dandruff but those returned when I took off the cloth. Probably the yeast were suffocating without air - especially cold air and it gave good results. I am trying everything will let you guys know if something works
I was so scared when I realized I had a lice check before I went to a multi person camp, I found myself crying and picking through my head. I found a few white specks, worrying they were nits, but when I scratched my head I found flakes upon flakes. I texted my best friend and cried to her on the phone. She told me to watch this video and so I did. Thank you, you saved my hair!!
ohmygosh i have psoriasis too! Im trying to get rid of the patches. My skin has been doing better. Its not dried up anymore but i still have white patches on my skin and it makes me feel so insecure. Have you gotten any luck? Ive been trying to take vitamins lately
Guys, here is another tip, if you don't want to use all these chemicals in shampoos and other products, go natural. Wash your hair with water and lemon, so take a glass of water, add half or full slice of lemon juice in it, and massage that water into your scalp. Let it stay there for 10 minutes. Then go take a bath or shower, and wash your hair with cold water, to make sure the lemon is off your scalp. Do this every day, or three times a week, or however times you can manage. But in short amount of time after couple days of doing this, you will notice your dandruff going away. Lemon exfoliates your skin, kills any bacteria or fungus on your scalp, and removes all oil and residue in your hair and scalp. That is why it works. And once you notice no more dandruff, you can either stop this, or continue to apply this treatment once a week to keep your scalp and hair healthier.
Rahziman Rahman I didn’t try the lemon . But if you put half apple cider vinegar and half water in a bottle and apply it to your scalp in the shower and let it sit for 10-15 mins it will burn a little but it gets rid of dandruff . But recently what I’ve been using and what’s really working for me is aloe Vera juice I apply that on my scalp and hair after I shampoo and condition and it helps your hair stay moist ... and also jojoba oil is good for the scalp too . Very good to keep dandruff away
@@Sagittariusave do you keep the jojoba oil on your hair or do you wash it after some minutes? Because for me, I have a hair loss problem too, and to combat that, I use peppermint oil + olive oil but the result of that, is that it feeds the dandruff and makes the hair so itchy.
Rahziman Rahman the jojoba oil I put in my scalp after washing my hair and massage it in my scalp and leave it in there . And as days go by you can add more if you feel dryness on your scalp too . No need to wash until your next wash day and apply again
I had dry itchy scalp that drove me crazy. Had this for several years. One day I noticed a rash on my feet. My feet were itchy and made me miserable. I went to several doctors and even had the skin pricks to test for allergies. Finally saw a dermatologist and was dx with a fungus. He prescribed Nizoral oral medication for ? days. It worked! No more itchy feet and although I didn't ask him about my dandruff it disappeared, too.
Dr. Lee you didn’t mention this, but certain medications can “cause” you to have dandruff. If you didn’t have it, and you had a change in the medications that you take (or in the dosage levels), I would talk to your doctor about it.
I have been dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis all my life, and this was a great refresher. I'm using ciclopirox shampoo at the moment, and yeah, definitely noticing a HUGE difference.
Using that as well. In addition, I use a sulfate free shampoo afterwards which helps my hair retain moisture and not dry out so quickly so my dandruff doesn't flare up. I've noticed that using JBCO, coconut oil and Argan oil REALLY helped me scalp.
+Diana Pinguicha the Jamaican black castor oil (you can get it on Amazon) REALLY helped. apply it every night or as needed, and make sure that you put a satin/silk scarf on your head at night (or sleep on a satin/silk pillowcase) to keep the oils and moisture in. good luck
maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age but can't help thinking its not in the pharmaceutical industry's to cure dandruff and other chronic ailments, far more profit in something that needs ongoing treatment.
Well you would be wrong, and that statement that comes from pure ignorance and lack of understanding basic economic mechanisms or the medical industry. #EducateYourself
Nigel Old & Grey You are perfectly right about that. The pharmaceutical industry (including doctors of course) isn't there to cure diseases or ailments. It's there to treat them and make possible trillions of dollars. The goal isn't to cure, it's to make profits.
Neem oil with carrier oil helps with the intense burning and itching. 1tsp neem oil to 3-4 tbsps coconut oil. You can experiment with the levels but the carrier oil should always be more than the neem oil. Neem oil is very strong and needs to be diluted, just like tea tree oil does. Massage this into your scalp, leave it on from 30mins to an hour. Wash off with shampoo and conditioner. Repeat this treatment every 3-4 days. It takes a few times for results to show and it might get worse before it gets better. When I do this treatment it get rids of the discomfort and I feel no need to scratch my scalp, therefore contributing to the healing process. There are many other benefits to using neem oil too. Make sure to keep up with this treatment in order for it to work.
Dr. Lee, could you do a video on hair loss for women. Like what could cause it, ways to help prevent it... Hope you see this. Love you videos! Have a great day! 😁
My SD flares with allergies. I have a ton of allergies! I had to learn those allergens and steer away from them to reduce my SD. One thing that I learned that exacerbated my SD, was my allergy to Panthenol. It’s a humectant added to many hair and body products. As a child/teen, I had difficulty growing my hair. It wasn’t until RUclips where I saw content creators showing how to care for natural hair using natural ingredients that my hair began to grow and thrive. I had to generate a hair care regimen that worked for me. Now I rarely get flareups of SD from topical products. I get most flareups from food allergies now. Milk and nuts primarily causes big immune responses and SD flareups, but also any attack of my immune system makes me more susceptible to SD. It’s Spring in the Southeast of America and pollen is ridiculous! I am suffering! With the pollen, I have noticed a deep flare of SD on my face, but particularly my scalp. I have to treat internally with antihistamines, a scalp detox for the flareups that look like a severe case of cradle cap, and a hydrocortisone cream for the areas of my face that’s effected so that it doesn’t appear as irritated as it is. It took me 30 years to figure this out. I hope more research is done on this so more targeted medicines can be developed that’ll directly target this unsightly nuisance!
Thank you for this! My daughter is in her early teens and has all this flaky stuff on her scalp. She also has psoriasis (from Grandma) and Keratosis Pilaris (from me). Not to mention very fair Irish skin. It really gets her down, all the ointments and special products she has to use. But I learned a lot here, so at least we understand that it's not the Hair that causes this, but the scalp. Please, please....can you do a video on Keratosis Pilaris? We both have it chronically, moderate to severe, although it does improve a bit in the summer. What kind of home remedies, OTC products, and prescription ointments would help us? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us!
Struggled with Seborrheic Dermatitis until 'Kottakkal Ayyappala Keratailam' oil came to my rescue. Used it twice a week after regular shampooing, and it worked wonders! A doctor from Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakal in india which i researched about recommended it through a $2 USD online appointment (medication and oil cost extra). This oil not only banished my dermatitis but any kind of dandruff too. If appointments aren't your thing, just try this oil-it's a game-changer! Trust me, your future self will thank you.
Very educational. I thought dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis were two different conditions. I don't know what I have exactly because the flakes aren't very dry like described. I would like to wash my hair every other day because it's better for the actual hair strand health/dryness/frizziness, and it just wastes more water but I really have to wash mine everyday to keep my scalp less oily. I like using T/Sal with salicylic acid mixed with a sulfate free shampoo, and let it soak for awhile in the shower. Head and Shoulders and those other shampoos don't do much for me. Every once in awhile I mix tea tree, peppermint and jojoba oil into a pre-shower scalp treatment for instant itchy skin relief. The longer you leave it on the better. There's no cure like she said, but this is making it more manageable..
Thank you so much for the video! My hubby has been dealing with dandruff for years. Most if the time it is controlled with over the counter shampoos. One tip we learned is that do not use a regular conditioner after your dandruff shampoo. It sort of cancels out the treatment. We saw this on an article somewhere and it really helped.
I have had bad dandruf issues for years, tried all shsmpoos and remedies until i used this remedy it worked within a week, i felt freeee for the first time in my life. Hope it works for you. 1)mix 2 cups of water and about a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar. Massage into scalp and leave it for 15min. 2)wash with shampoo to remove apple cider vinegar smell. 3)mix coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree oil and alovera gel, apply daily. 😊
My daughter is type 1 Diabetic and gets terrible dandruff from the overproduction of yeast due to high blood glucose...I find shampoo her hair with regular dandruff shampoo then rinse thoroughly then I pour a mixture of white vinegar and water (1/4 c vinegar with 2 c water) I massage it in and rinse again before conditioner ...it tames the yeast overgrowth keeping the dandruff better in control. She has such thick hair it is really difficult to wash and style. The vinegar really helps
Thank you Dr Lee for this information. I really enjoy your channel and I have learned a lot of things from you. Last week I had to do a skin biopsy, I used a small punch and I knew how to do it because I've seen you do it so many times. I had only learned it in theory. Thank you again.
I had eczema and I saw a my dermatologist three times, and three strikes you're out ! Research. found that Sea Salt ( NOT mortons)helps people I put the sea salt in bowl of warm water let it dissolve after my shower just splashed it on my arm and let it air dry and the eczema went away within days this apparently helps with all sorts of skin issues. Good idea to start at the doctor first . Also started taking selenium and probiotics . Stopping gluten, dairy since they cross react might be helpful, my doctor thinks gluten and inflammatory food is what is causing major allergy issues in people. I never eat gluten

I mix 1/4 cup oil with 1tsp of boric acid powder I bought off Amazon. I put it on once or twice a day. This works for seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, fungal infections (baby cradle cap) etc. I am not a doctor and Boric acid is toxic if injested or absorbed. If you put the boric acid in water and apply I think I heard that it does get absorbed and that's no good. With coconut oil it just sits on the top of the skin. Also consider a coconut oil/boric acid scalp treatment for a week or so to help kill the fungus that causes seborrheic dermatitis. I have mine under control my 1. Eating gluten free 2. Vit D3/K2 liquid 2000 iu 3. Boric acid coconut oil when necessary or accidental eating of gluten. Good luck!
The only dandruff shampoo that works for me is the one with ketoconazol. I was truly surprised by it's effect within a week. No more itching and flaking. Now I can go a week without washing my hair and still no flakes, even though by that time my hair would be oily and dirty. The lesson I learned was that dandruff is caused by fungal infection of the scalp. So use a shampoo that has an active ingredient that kills the fungal growth.
What is said in this video is definitely not set in stone or absolute fact. Although she speaks about the subject with such conviction is quite amazing.
seborrheic dermatitis is not typical dandruff , I have it on my scalp but it’s localized to one part , the research and my dermatologist say it’s a build up of yest, that’s why seborrheic is yellow in its flakes , it’s also what you call babies cradle cap, my dermatologists is treating it with CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE which doesn’t really help , if I stay away from sulfates it tends to not be so bad, but if I’m stressed out it comes back in full force .
QUESTION: I sometimes get a VERY oily spot on the front patch of my hair. It's very wax like. The rest of my hair is fine. What is this and how can I treat it?
Mix 50/50 parts water and apple cider vinegar! Rinse and exfoliate scalp. And rinse. You could also try adding baking soda to shampoo. Problem solved!!!!
Thank you. Sometimes I rub white vinegar into my scalp about 20 min. before I wash it. Sometimes I use a vinegar pre rinse after a wash. Seems to help.
My cure story... ( In Short - its vitamins deficiency , shampoo has minimal role here ) My experience with this issue began 5 yr ago. Initially, it was mild, and using shampoo did not have any significant impact. However, one day I experienced severe chest pain and thought it might be a heart problem. The doctor conducted tests on my vitamin levels and found deficiencies in Vitamin B12 and D3. I didn't initially connect these deficiencies to the condition of my scalp, as I thought it was a separate issue. Later, I visited a hair specialist who recommended a specific shampoo but also prescribed some vitamin supplements. I experienced significant relief after taking the vitamins. However, once the course of the medicine was completed, the problem started recurring. I tried using various shampoos, but they did not help. Eventually, I decided to order the vitamin supplements on my own, and now the problem is no longer affecting my scalp. As a vegetarian, it's important to check your vitamin levels. In this case, shampoo did not play a role in resolving the issue.
Best of luck. I created a product that I know will help others as much as it has helped me and yes, it is ANTI-FUNGAL! New to Etsy but please check it out. I have dandruff on my scalp, in my eyebrows and around my nose. Recently I was going through chemo and all of my dandruff when away. Was the only nice thing about it :/
True. My hair get really oily if I don’t wash it within 24 hours. Dandruff have been growing a lot since 3-4 years and now after taking care of my scalp for 1 month, it has reduced drastically.
Supplementing with zinc (or get it through diet) helps to regulate the sebaceous glands. Also a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water poured over the hair and worked into the scalp will help kill the fungus, balance skin pH and clear deposits from follicles.
@@noahahmed8247 It depends upon how deeply fixed candida is into your system. Think of dandruff as a symptom of imbalance. Eliminating sugar and crappy fats whilst eating more vegetables might be enough. Whereas more severe fungal overgrowth might require prolonged fasts with targeted herbals to help clear it out. Going ketogenic would also starve the fungus of its fuel source. I switched to using Dr. Bronner's liquid soap to wash with (including hair) which is vlean, natural and doesn't leave skin suffocating and pore blocking deposits.
I did a little experiment with my Head & Shoulders shampoo and I just can't believe what I,ve achieved ! I opened 2 pieces of my aloe vera and I blended then . I did not add water or nothing. Then , I added that liquified aloe vera into my Head & Shoulders shampoo and it worked ! My hair is growing, no more dandruff and best of all...no more itching !
most sources do, actually. dandruff = flakes coming off your scalp, the symptom itself. it can exist in two types: dry dandruff and wet/oily dandruff. wet/oily dandruff = seborrheic dermatitis, when there is OIL/SEBUM involved in the inflammation process.
I feel sad that I can never wear my hair in french braids or other styles because they show my dandruff... I'm going to try everything I can to get rid of it!!

I got dandruff at 19. After several years of itching and visiting specialist and other Dr.s i found an indian man who told how prevent dandruff by dabing on a mix of applecider vinegar and warm water. Theres a lot of pharm money to keep people down.
Nemo Moto Yeah the weather here wreaks havoc with my psoriasis. I found Diabobet ointment is the beat. It’s non-steroid and will get rid of a scale patch in 2 days!
I started getting dandruff at age 12. My next door neighbor, who was a nurse, diagnosed me. By the time I graduated high school it was mostly gone. Now it comes back in the winter, I blame it on the fact that my house has forced air heat and I love hot showers. As a teen I used head and shoulders. Now in the winter I use a shampoo with tea tree and peppermint, seems to do the trick.

I really suffered with this condition to the point I stopped wearing black clothes. I wear black now with total confidence. No more white flakes
lee higgins do you leave the tea tree oil in or rinse it out after treatment?
Sharon Wieler
It depends on the product. Read instructions. I but the shampoo and the oil. Green Teatree works wonderfully.
Yup. I have tea tree shampoo and conditioner and they keep them completely gone
Careful with Tea Tree oil. It can affect hormone levels. Not a myth BTW. i thought it was until it gave my super young daughter breast lumps.
Aaron J yo chill things happen I doubt it was the tree oil
When I take a shower it’s gone then the next day it’s there!!!!!!
Same with me😔

It has to do something with your sleep and stress levels, I’m totally convinced about that.
DEFINETLY stress in a stressful situation I can almost feel them forming lol
Yeah it’s likely to be some kind of hormone or chemical imbalance (she mentions puberty in this video) and I’ve only ever had it when my thyroid is out of whack
G I haven’t been sleeping much and it started to appear so I think that’s it
Alex Pardo exactly my case too
Diet too. I eat clean. I'm fine. Then I have pizza and greasy foods and boom! Flakes. I hate it!
I feel so bad when I go to get my hair cut cause it literally snows

It's hard to wash your hair more often when you have long curly hair that tends to get dry with dandruff shampoo....
Yes it’s sucks
Try apple cider vinegar instead! I don't use any shampoo or conditioner any more and my seborrheic dermatitis is not flared up!!

For those saying there are no answers in this video. There are clearly answers, you’re just not listening.
Dr Sandra Lee’s recommendations:
She said dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) is caused by fungal infection so look for shampoos with ketoconazole, zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide etc. in them.
Also use selsum blue, and food intake takes part as well.
Not to mention the list of potential similar diagnoses
Aren't those chemicals?
@@FlatPlaneReality swaminarayan
Also, as per the comments, tea tree oil
Using shampoo with tea tree oil is actually helping and cold showers, although the cold showers suck 🥶
Mix the tea tree oil with shampoo?
I switched from anti dandruff shampoos to a tea tree oil and the dandruff went away. I also use a good conditioner.
Boodieman72 which shampoo
David Willison Paul Mitchell Tea Tree
David Willison You could also add tea tree oil to your regular shampoo
I was just recommended tea tree oil by my cosmetologist! I hope it works for me!
Teatree works in the eye brows and body, too.
People keep making fun of me b/c of the dandruff in my hair. I didn’t know what it was so that’s why I came here. Thank you.
Oh, burning ISNT part of dandruff? OMG I think i have scalp eczema too! I Have the same symptoms😭
Have you tried almond oil it works
How is your condition now?
I never had dandruff until last year. I noticed it about 5 months into being pregnant with my daughter. I'm convinced my hormone change contributed to developing this gross and annoying stuff!
Could be hormones...I’m 29 and stopped birth control for the first time in so many years and guess who just got dandruff for the first time 🙋🏻♀️ haha
Omg this is me. During the last part of my pregnancy and after giving birth was when mine started acting up and I’m still struggling 🙃 almost 2 years now
Guys! Use this;
Spray bottle- half apple cider vinegar and half water, spray on scalp- leave in for 20-30mins, rinse then wash as normal!😊👍 natural and cheap, and it frigin works guys i swear lol
Buzz Yah so do this before you shampoo & condition? Does your hair stink afterwards from the vinegar?
@@kimberlypartida9819 I use it in place of shampoo! It doesn't stink afterwards but during the wash it does. It may not work for you, but try it out!
I tried the ACV thing for weeks, but it didn't work for me...😞
ACV doesnt have clinical studies and that if this one actually works or not so its nor recommended. Better use tea tree oil or head & shoulders
And here, my family was yelling at me that I wasn't taking care of myself.
I've always suffered with dandruff since I was small & still do to this day. What I notice that brings it back is using new products & what I've noticed that helped is tea tree oil, & coconut oil. Anything moisturizing. I was my hair with head & shoulders & it keeps it at ease
I'm scared to wash my hair every day because I notice there'll be more hair falling out.
Exactly...... Catch 22 situation
Doll Face Yup, me too.
I’ve been washing my hair every other day with dandruff shampoo but it dries my hair out so much and causes heavy hair fall ☹️☹️
I'm 25 and all my hair on the top is gone.
Anti-inflammatory smoothies and natural hair products helped me.
Ketoconazole Shampoo is what has worked best for me!
Leave it in overnight then wash it out in the morning.
What brand uses that?
@@lenababyyy1482 I have used Actavis.
I dont know if its available in your country, but look for any shampoo that has 2% Ketoconazole. You might need a prescription; I get it from my doctor for psoriasis.
I was worried about using dandruff shampoo because it dries hair. I'm glad to hear you can focus on your scalp and use regular shampoo on your hair.
I started exfoliating my scalp (once a week) I just mix Epsom salt with my shampoo to make a paste and make sure to gently scrub my scalp with it
I never really use shampoo on my hair itself just the scalp, but this was the only thing that helps me manage and keep it under control (and it makes my hair softer)
The Dr. knows what she’s talking about 👍🏾
I also recommend to people to divide the hair into (4 sections) and section by section part the hair and use STRIDEX PADS ( buy at Walmart) to Gently exfoliate and cleanse the scalp...
Janet Taylor it dries my hair and scalp
So relieved
Here is what I tried:
Use mild shampoo every other day by diluting it with water
Apply some oil during noon or evening. This is just to prevent hair becoming dry with constant wash
More importantly, always cover your scalp with a cloth. I mean all the time.
Step 3 really reduced reduced my dandruff but those returned when I took off the cloth. Probably the yeast were suffocating without air - especially cold air and it gave good results. I am trying everything will let you guys know if something works
Any suggestions please ?
I was so scared when I realized I had a lice check before I went to a multi person camp, I found myself crying and picking through my head. You should do one on psoriasis it's something I have had to deal with for years
ohmygosh i have psoriasis too!
Sunny shah thank you ... I put coconut oil in my hair and 3 days later I find flakes in my hair I’m scared I’m glad I saw this tho
@@Sagittariusave did it work?
The body shop ginger shampoo helps in my dandruff. It’s doesn’t completely finish it but it does a lot of the work.
I rub coconut oil into my scalp and wait 30 minutes before I wash my hair. Feels so good !
Please do a video about the treatment for psoriasis! Over the counter medications or anything that can help! Thank you!! Love your videos!!
I started getting them in my late 20s. Never had the issue until I was around 24.
+FallnAngel07 Ooooh, looks like I'll have to try the oils, then!
Nigel Old & Grey
You are perfectly right about that. The pharmaceutical industry (including doctors of course) isn't there to cure diseases or ailments. It's there to treat them and make possible trillions of dollars. The goal isn't to cure, it's to make profits.
Dumb Dumber
Educate yourself with the knowledge that the pharmaceutical industry feeds you with. Your name says it all.
Not an argument.
Nigel Old & Grey .. that’s exactly what i think
Thanks I will definitely have to try that.

@@laurabaker8808 Would you please tell me how to use the boric acid and the coconut oil?
@@laurabaker8808 please tel l us the process
Good luck!
Thank you doctor Lee for good medical advice about this segment.
👍
What is said in this video is definitely not set in stone or absolute fact. Although she speaks about the subject with such conviction is quite amazing.
I use to have it in my eyebrows when I was younger.
Professor Rosenstock how you got rid of it?
seborrheic dermatitis is not typical dandruff , I have it on my scalp but it’s localized to one part , the research and my dermatologist say it’s a build up of yest, that’s why seborrheic is yellow in its flakes , it’s also what you call babies cradle cap, my dermatologists is treating it with CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE which doesn’t really help , if I stay away from sulfates it tends to not be so bad, but if I’m stressed out it comes back in full force .
I want a cureeeeee!!!!!!!

I found some scalp scrub and serum from Renpure that has apple vinegar in it. It has done a fantastic job.
Thank you. Sometimes I rub white vinegar into my scalp about 20 min. before I wash it. Sometimes I use a vinegar pre rinse after a wash. Seems to help.
Hot oil treatments helped me a lot with my dandruff and itchy scalp.
My cure story... ( In Short - its vitamins deficiency , shampoo has minimal role here )
My experience with this issue began 5 yr ago.
I would love a video on psoriasis! I have psoriasis on my scalp and only clobetesal has worked so far. I'd like other options :)
Best of luck. I created a product that I know will help others as much as it has helped me and yes, it is ANTI-FUNGAL! New to Etsy but please check it out. The drops work and are lighter than anything I've tried so you can use them every day if you so need and a little goes a long way. I use the Nizoral Shampoo for the ketoconazole and this! www.etsy.com/listing/859685499/seborrheic-dermatitis-natural-scalp
I have dandruff on my scalp, in my eyebrows and around my nose. Recently I was going through chemo and all of my dandruff when away. Was the only nice thing about it :/
i looooove this channel so glad youre doing this! Great addition to tour Pimple popping one
True. My hair get really oily if I don’t wash it within 24 hours. Dandruff have been growing a lot since 3-4 years and now after taking care of my scalp for 1 month, it has reduced drastically.
How often did you start washing it
Supplementing with zinc (or get it through diet) helps to regulate the sebaceous glands. Also a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water poured over the hair and worked into the scalp will help kill the fungus, balance skin pH and clear deposits from follicles.
HawaiiLimey for good?
@@noahahmed8247 It depends upon how deeply fixed candida is into your system. Think of dandruff as a symptom of imbalance. Eliminating sugar and crappy fats whilst eating more vegetables might be enough. Whereas more severe fungal overgrowth might require prolonged fasts with targeted herbals to help clear it out. Going ketogenic would also starve the fungus of its fuel source. I switched to using Dr. Bronner's liquid soap to wash with (including hair) which is vlean, natural and doesn't leave skin suffocating and pore blocking deposits.
HawaiiLimey any idea of what to do for hairfall and super dry brittle hair brother? It is so dry and brittle
Just brush nite. Helps stimulate glands.. It has HELPPED me deal. I brushed my daughter's scalp. Back to health
This was SOOOO helpful. Thank you Sandra. You're a DOLL 🤩!!
“We can’t give you anything to make it go away”then what was the point of this video
Well atleast reduce it
Explain what dandruff is and what can be done to help coz it can’t be healed or cure
did you not listen to what she was saying? people are so braindead it hurts
You are the first source that I’ve seen that said dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis are the same
most sources do, actually. dandruff = flakes coming off your scalp, the symptom itself. it can exist in two types: dry dandruff and wet/oily dandruff. wet/oily dandruff = seborrheic dermatitis, when there is OIL/SEBUM involved in the inflammation process.
Thank you Doctor... i hardly have any dandruff but my scalp is very itchy ams I have a lot of hairfall.. please advise.. thankyou
I feel sad that I can never wear my hair in french braids or other styles because they show my dandruff... I'm going to try everything I can to get rid of it!!
There's definitely a reason to why I came across this video on RUclips: ruclips.net/user/Jyovis of Jyovis Ayurveda and I was very happy to see the results. I even followed few of the tips explained and it actually worked. Then I finally decided to contact on ...... (+91 9987557971) to cure my Problem from the root cause. The team really helped me a lot. Thank you Jyovis!
I got dandruff at 19. After several years of itching and visiting specialist and other Dr.s i found an indian man who told how prevent dandruff by dabing on a mix of applecider vinegar and warm water. Additionally i keep my room air-conditioned. These two things keep my dandruff at bay most of the time. Im in Oz and have experienced Dr.s prescribe topical steriods. Then i joined ITSAN. Theres a lot of pharm money to keep people down.
Nemo Moto Yeah the weather here wreaks havoc with my psoriasis. I found Diabobet ointment is the beat. It’s non-steroid and will get rid of a scale patch in 2 days!
Apple Cider Vinegar does wonders for me.
Thank you, Dr.Sandra for sharing your knowledge. We really appreciate it
Dr Lee, This is some excellent info! I think most of us on You Tube actually know more about cyst removal, than dandruff! lol ! ...You are an extremely good teacher! Thanks again. I'm always learning new things here!!!
I have dandruff and it makes me itch and when I scratch I bleed
