I'm a grown ass man and I have tears in my eyes seeing how moved you were! The girl gets it. Love it. Welcome to the family. Whether you know it or not, you're a metal head at heart. 🤘
A song that is somewhat forgotten when people talk Metallica. They talk Sandman, Master of Puppets, Horsemen, One, etc. But when you listen to Nothing Else Matters, you are reminded to the power it has. Elton John said it best, it is one of the best songs ever written. It has everything.
This is a masterpiece! Heck...I am old enough to have purchased the cassette tape of the album so I could listen to it in my Ford Crown Victoria! Dammmm...I am getting old!
I think all those who started learning guitar at that time won't forget it, we all tried to play it asap, and the intro of the song was very helpful for that ^^
It's not considered 'cool' to talk about this song. It's a 'sellout' song. It's not 'metal', blah blah. Try hard metal bros. Just a dumb way to go through life.
I don’t think it’s a forgotten song as a full piece of music, but what most people don’t realize, what a killer piece of a Solo James is playing. Absolutely amazing.
Yes your pretty and very perceptive after watching your easy on the eyes and intelligent Lars is cool these guy fight alot but it makes them better because thy push each other iorn sharpens iorn don't doubt your self you nailed it
It's refreshing to still see young generation listeners to get emotional over a guitar solo. James seldomly writes and plays solos, but when he does, you know, because it is well constructed and hits emotionally. Great reaction!
If you love this, then you should listen to Fade To Black by them - another emotional masterpiece with heavy lyrics. I promise you will love it! It's my favorite Metallica song (but I have many because it's really hard to choose 1 with this legendary band)

I've been listening to this song since middle school. It's still my favorite song by Metallica. When you said you needed to hear it again, I completely understood. It's one of the best songs ever written in my opinion.
The moment you started to tear up is when I knew that you don't just listen to the music but you feel the music and that's a very important part of the experience.
The story behind the song is the starting of the song where there are open string (E-G-B-e pattern), James Hetfield wrote that while he was talking to his then girlfriend on the phone, he was just randomly strumming. It started from there and he composed the entire song, showed it to Lars, Lars liked it and rest is history. And yeah, James Hetfield played the solo, it's so beautiful, work of a master!!!! After all these years, I am still in love with this song. First guitar solo I learned, because of James!!!!
It’s funny, if you listen to interviews with James from around that time, recording this album was where he learned he knows how to sing - up until that point he didn’t believe he could actually do it properly.
The people who don't listen to hard rock / metal never get to understand the emotional roller-coaster that a song such as this can take you on. The sign of a great song is the emotion that it evokes in every individual in their our personal way.
This song was truly a masterpiece by the band. What you're calling rasp in James'voice is actually called vocal Frye and not many people did it like James. A one of a kind voice in his prime. You should listen to Fade to Black.

Every time I hear James yell "Yeah!" It's like he's screaming in the faces of Life & Death and it gets me emotional. James will always be a god to me. A lot of people put Lars down, but there'd be no Metallica if it wasn't for him. He's also one of the drummers to bring double-bass drumming into the forefront.
Hi Biss. Not long after the release of the 'Black' album, my best friend got married. I'll bet that not too many people have had a Metallica song for their wedding waltz! Love your reactions on the music of Metallica. Grew up with them, got almost every album. Love the change int their music styles. Stil my favorite band next to AC/DC. The darkest song is fade to black.
Bravo for reaction. Next is "One". Song is Masterpiece. Keep rocking!🤟
Welcome to the Metallica familia 😊.. Love to see you get emotional with the song, I love you su much......
