Yes the best is RUSH, Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, and Scorpions.
Try "Yellow Raven" and "We Burn the Sky" for Scorpions if you love the sound of this one.
He is saying "give me another chance" because he knows he will forever be loving her regardless so that is the longing. He is saying "this could be the end" with him merely left "STILL LOVING YOU."
"We Burn the Sky" is a girl the band knew in high school where none of them dated or had sex with her, but she loved their wild music and then committed suicide and so they are saying he knows "when it's time to die; we'll burn the sky" in the sense he will perform all of his success for her to hear everything they had become since she had left Earth and that she would be with them again as their friend of the band along for the ride in the sky.

One of the few bands that play their live version EXACTLY like the studio version. The vocals and guitar parts are perfect. I started playing hair metal guitar in 1985. I was 15. The Scorpions were huge on my list of songs to learn. I've seen them live several times. The hair band ballad always started soft and picked up and ended like it started.

Scorpions has created some of the most amazing power ballads. Their two main guys (singer Klaus + guitarist Rudolf) are in their 70s now, but they still going strong after 50 years on stage. Some great songs have been already been recommended and I would like to add my favourite: Lady Starlight! I am sure you will love it 🥲

It's great seeing a younger generation get into music that was a part of my younger days, these guys hit when I was in my twenties, most of the music I grew up with came out if the sixties and seventies.
My kids, who are 34 & 30, grew up listening to this because my stereo was way louder than theirs. 😁

LOL - that sounds exactly like my house, and we must be about the same age (I'm prolly a bit older because I had my first kid when I was 40, and he's the same age as your oldest). Deep Purple, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden... were very instrumental in developing my love/taste for music. I branched out into prog with King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Rush - and was in heaven when I first heard Dream Theater. I still tease my 2 oldest sons for yelling 'turn that off!" in the car when I tried to turn them on to Rising Force and Joe Satriani. Good memories. 😄

I love your comment about him not wearing shoes....I played bass in many many many bands in my lifetime and never wore shoes in rehearsal...if we had our own stage mat or carpet I woukd have played live without them as well. It gave me a feeling of comfort and being grounded...you can feel the beat through your feet (at least in my mind I could). Barefoot really did make me feel the music and make me feel grounded. Perhaps he just hates shoes...lol.

Madalina I love your reaction to this song, and your appreciation for the Scorpions' talent. I first discovered them before I was even 10 years old. I first liked them because my zodiac sign is Scorpio. However, listening to them is always inspirational. Whether it's to rock out to Rock You Like a Hurricane, or a soft soulful song like this one.
You're 100% correct. This is a song about someone who hurt the one they love, and wants to win their love / heart back. When I used to perform this live at clubs, I could see everyone's eyes get watered up, and it always hit me emotionally. Even the tough headbanging hard rock metal heads would soften up to this song. It was very difficult to sing, and the emotional energy of the song made it more difficult, yet easy at the same time.
Have you ever reacted to Scorpions' Rhythm of Love ... I love to sing that song too.
    Thanks for sharing your reaction.

Loved listening to my Scorpions albums back then...and got a tattoo of a scorpion just because I like them. Play any song from their albums, Lovedrive or Animal Magnetism, and you won't be disappointed. Those are their two best from start to finish...but that's just my opinion. I did see them Live at the US Festival '83, in San Berdoo (my home at the time).

fun Fact, the bands founder Rudolf Schenkers little brother played with the band for a bit, but then formed his own band...the Micheal Schenker Group and was also a member of the band UFO !
UFO's "lights out" is an epic song for all true metal fans !

I think it's great that younger people are discovering the older music. I'm kinda surprised that you didn't know The Scorpions as they are a German rock band.

I remember like yesterday, it was in 1987, we were in the industrial highschool No. 27 in Bucharest in the practice week. The whole class in the workshop, but ifor the moment, no work to do :). A day off, let's say. We were a bunch o rockers there (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath fans) and we brought a audio tape with Killers In Tour, a Scorpions concert...Always Somewhere, When the Smoke is Going Down, Holiday, plus other of their ballads, this one included. One better than the other. We continously invited our colleague girls to dance...couldn't imagine a better party.

Mega scorps fan here. Watching your reaction to this song really reminded me of the emotions and sensations I experienced when discovering their music. Such a treat to watch someone else in that space of discovery enjoying it so organically like you did. Made my day. Cheers!

I saw the Scorpions in 1979 in Pennsylvania at the Pocono Jam concert. I believe it was their first concert in the USA. I saw them a total of 5 times. They were great every time.

Ugh... The leader guitar tones this band possesses just never gets old. Winds of Change is something you must check out. It's about the fall of the Berlin Wall. Send me and Angel, and Rock you Like a Hurricane are also staple songs of theirs. Did a beautiful cover of Across the Universe too.

One of the best rock bands ever. I still can't believe it took like 10 years for them to even get any press and then another five to ten years to break through bigtime. I think most bands would give up after that long. Glad they didn't. Hell, they did get huge until their mid to late thirties

  • @Tremor1975
    @Tremor1975 Год назад

You should have done the full length version,,, this one chops off 1/3 of the song.
Always Somewhere, In Trance, We'll Burn the Sky, Holiday just a few of their great songs. Deep & Dark is a favourite of mine, it's heavy and has some substance, from their not so popular days.
A song released during covid, Sign of Hope, is somewhat forgotten, but shows that these guys are the masters of the Ballads.

I like EVERYTHING from Scorpions since the 1970’s songs. You will for sure like Wind of Change, but Now, Dynamite, Coming Home, Holliday, Rock you Like a Hurricane, Send me an Angel…… I can go on and on. Note, the most popular songs may not be the best songs with this band, for example I love Don’t Stop at the Top, and it is not going to be huge, but worth a listen.

Brilliant observation my dear! I have played drums barefoot for my entire 47 year career. I’ve never played my drums with shoes on, even when wearing a tuxedo. I am part of my drums when barefoot.

Pity I couldn't join you live for this one, but it's the sort of song that made me want to hold up a lighter.. and I've never owned a lighter.
As I understand it, the Scorpions are the biggest selling band ever out of Germany. Other songs that I would recommend are 'No One Like You', 'The Zoo', 'Send Me an Angel', and 'Winds of Change', the last one is considered the unofficial song of Germany's reunification.
