  • @chaospoet

    The Scorpions are easily one of the most interesting bands of all time. They have so many sides to them it's insane. They have songs like this and then they have songs with riffs so heavy they have their own gravitational field like "White China" and then songs so wild they can only be described as "Because they can" songs like "Sails of Charon" and yet all of them sound and feel exactly like how a Scorpions song should be.

    • @magnusfredriksson208
      @magnusfredriksson208 Год назад +4

      A fun fact is that they adapted the time and changed for every era in rockmusic. If you listen to the early songs in the 70s they adapted the sound of that time but still kept their own touch to it and then listen to the newest albums. They still sound like Scorpions but yet they adapted the modern musicstyle of today.

    • @chaospoet
      @chaospoet Год назад +5

      @@magnusfredriksson208 That is a very difficult thing to do. Most bands fail at it and either fade away or just stick to what they do best and be known for doing one thing well. A band like this that can constantly adapt and be aware of what is going on currently and understand it all to know what works and what doesn't while also staying true to themselves is extremely rare.

    This is what every power ballad wants to be. The singer knows he’s in Hell (Land of the Morning Star) and has a rebelliously hopeful cry for help. He knows there’s an escape. Some people hear this as a longing for a loved one. Others have played this at a loved one’s funeral.

    It's so strange hearing a song you've known forever, and suddenly things trigger that you never noticed before. Someone down below mentioned Cinderella, which I was lucky enough to see 3 times in concert, and then after reading that comment I continued on with the reaction... and in a specific part of the guitar which was a little bluesy, I was suddenly reminded of Great White.

    Strangely enough so many of the greatest ballads in music. came from bands that didn't really cover many ballads. The 80's had so many really good "Monster Ballads" as they were called. Monster meaning, they were from pretty much heavy metal or heavy rock bands. The 80's was a great time for music.

    I loved the reaction, and especially the reaction to the part where you said "sorry sorry sorry Klaus I have to repeat this" and you repeated it. I listen to Klaus when I feel like wailing and soaring the sky like a rising phoenix. He's soooo good at reaching for that emotion. You obviously "get it."
    Klaus has a pure, piercing, powerful voice and style that he uses in a sort of wailing way that is very striking in it's beauty and perfection. It reminds me (a little bit) of another band that was popular in the 70's and 80's called Heart. The lead singer does something similar in a few of their rock songs, like "barracuda" and "magic man." (Very different mood, but a somewhat similar vocal style that is piercing, pure, perfect, and high contrast, in a way that sort of wails and is mirrored by a wailing lead guitar.)

He got a yes….he kept following and also asked …is it also a request for divine intervention? The answer was, that too…..Well they didn’t actually answer questions. However it is clear that it is definitely about love and asking for help and goodness…..could you send me an angel? Excellent words….probably hit everyone in a different way. Bisscute, I love this song too! You mentioned morningstar in the lyrics. In the book of Isaiah in the bible the poetic structure may be using the phrase to describe the greatness of lucifer prior to his fall from heaven. This is the only time morningstar is used to describe lucifer. However there are at least three times the word Morningstar may be used to describe Jesus. In the last chapter in the Bible , Rev 22., Jesus is noted as the bright morning star. This might be what Klaus and Scorpions are referring to. Thank you so much for your show! 🙂👏🙌

    Lots of good stuff from 1993 onward, but not quite the same.
    An absolute must would the "sequel" song to Still Loving You, the acronymous "SLY". SLY is so much more emotionally compelling than its predecessor. Still Loving You is the typical "lovers gone wrong" song, but SLY is about the child that came from that love (whom got the name "Sly"), grew up, and now the dude is having a similar struggle of reconciliation with his (runaway) daughter.

    There's a song from the 80s that is also called "Send Me An Angel" by an Australian new wave/synth-pop group called Real Life. It was pretty popular and sounds even more 80s than this Scorpions song which came out in 1991.
    No clue what he means by the "the land of the Morning Star", but the internet tells me it's the western half of the island of New Guinea which has history with Germany back in the 1800s. The video shows imaginary of dessert lands, I don't know if that's relevant, but it makes me think of images I've seen of the Middle East, and the lyrics seem Biblical. Maybe it's just all metaphorical and the song is just a plea for help, idk.

    First, someone else has already mentioned the song by Real Life with the same name..."Send Me An Angel"...definitely worth adding to your ever-growing list of songs that you could react to in the future.
    Second, there was another band that came immediately to mind when I watched this reaction. But, then I got to thinking, the first time that I saw the Scorpions live, Cinderella opened up for them. so, in addition to my "plus one" for Real Life, I'll throw out "Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone" by Cinderella. Amazing song.

    Great reaction as usual! One off my favorite songs by the Scorpions. There a German rock band. The songwriters were Rodolf Schenker and Klaus Meine. The land of the morning star would likely be an allusion to Lucifer. So basically, the singer is saying he is situated in the land or domain of Lucifer. And likely would be a metaphor pointing to the idea the wise man already warned him that the singer environs are dangerous in fact detrimental to him reaching his overall goal. He wants a woman that's between the dark and the light. Try reacting to Still loving You by the Scorpions.🖤

    So Bisscute, I think you maybe the Angel? Keep going with the Scorps, cannot go wrong with them. Might try my favorite next slow great harmonies, good acoustic guitar and more traditional rock with "Holiday" or another great slow ballad with "Always Somewhere"

    Yes Morningstar is Lucifer. That's why he asks for an angel.
    The angel is supposed to bring him out of the darkness. This is a song about depression and hope.
    Life is like a rose garden. Beautiful but you can also get hurt.

    What a beautiful reaction to such a stunningly beautiful song! 😇
    Also thanks for hinting at the reference to Lucifer's last name "Morgenstern / Morningstar" (the name "Lucifer" derives from Latin language, a combination of the noun "lux" ("light") and the verb "ferre" ("to carry"), and literally means "carrier of light"), which could mean that the protagonist of the story is indeed kinda stuck in some hellish environment, tortured by the outcast fallen angel, and is shouting out to the heavens above to send him an angel to rescue him.
    Luv' it! 😊👍😎
