I wouldn't necessarily call Rammstein better. They are quite a different style with distinct requirements. Till's singing voice is nowhere near that of Klaus from a traditional point of view, but it fits its purpose.
That being said, there are quite a number of other bands that have "come out of Germany" that had massive international success, from Alphaville to Boney M. and others.

This song was played at a friend of mines young sons funeral. It was very impactful on everyone there.
A ballad with a deeper meaning. Its one of the best and it's a very exclusive group.
Klaus Meine has been doing this since the 70s LOVE SCORPIONS
Bravo!!!!!! One of their best ballads!!!!!! I was lucky enough to discover them very young at the beggining of the 80s They were and still are very popular here in Greece. I remember borrowing a cassette tape with their Greatest Hits from one of my classmates and after a couple of days i got diagnosed with the chickenpox. I stayed home for about a month and that tape kept me the best company!!! Sails of Charon is my fave, give it a try.

Scorpions were my absolute favorite, back then, in my 20's. 😍😍😍
It's about his desire for someone to love.
I was born in 1972 so i basically grew up in the 1980s at the dawn of "Heavy Metal" Now the Scorpions kinda walked the line between "Hard Rock & Heavy Metal" certain songs leaning more one way than the other, but what a lot of Critics of Heavy Metal failed to realize is that many of the Bands of the time also had "Rock/Metal Ballads" all they heard were the Fast/Loud/Angry songs and outright dismissed Metal Bands as nothing hut "Noise"
But some of the most beautiful and meaningful songs in the last few decades came from "Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Bands"
And this is a fine example of one of them.
You could play this song and video in a church on Sunday Mass and i think half of the church goers would have tears in their eyes at the end.

You will not run short of Scorpions ballads. I have a playlist of them almost 3 hours long!!
I get more from this song as an adult, than I did as a teen. The words have so much depth and meaning. Being lost, looking, trying to find your way.... Wise man says you can pick roses along the way.... just beware of the thorns. Powerful! (Relationships that you try, but it ends up hurting you.) Crying out..."Send Me an Angel."

YES! Back in the late 90's/Early 2000's I tried to find the Real Life Send Me an Angel, and all Napster and KaZaA would show was the Scorpions. Took me forever to finally find both.
Cant hear this song for the first time without realizing you just heard something powerful.

My favorite rock group! You nailed it. They are from Germany when they talk it's hard to understand them but when they sing!!!!!! I have seen them in concert 8 to 10 times. Some of my best memories from the 80's were going to rock concerts all around the bay area.
You know, I liked them but wasn't a superfan until I heard Blackout.
Masters of the power ballad, but they can rock hard too. I miss them.

KLAUS MEINE is the singer. One of the best rock singers ever. He's like 75 now so he's pretty much lost the ability to sing like that. Nobody beats the clock. That's life.

The Scorpions are THE German rock n' roll band... they opened the doors for every German band or artist that came after them - Accept, Kraftwerk, Kreator, Helloween, Falco, U.D.O, Nena, Rammstein, KMFDM, Destruction, Blind Guardian... etc.
...Falco was from Austria, not Germany...
Klaus Mein was, and is one of the top rock vocals of all time!

Imagine a time when not only the songs had depth,but so did the performers. When bands noted for playing hard rocking heavy metal could turn around produce an amazing ballad such as this. That time has sadly gone. The charts are filled with vapid one trick ponies without enough talent between the lot of them to match these old bands.

I like how you let the song run and resist the urge to pause right away, allowing for each part of the song to play out, getting you the full experience of the song. I also agree with you regarding the meaning behind the song although I'm sure it could be interpreted to a variety of topics. But I like to think it's how you described. Also great job on song selection! It's nice to see some variety in the reviews. This band has so many phenomenal songs and it seems there's only 2-3 that get most of the attention. This one is a diamond in the rough
