    I had quite a few questions asking if I felt the weight, or handling difference after adding the fuel cell.
    My car currently weighs less than my previous setup. No Roof Rack or Cargo Basket.
    Like this comment for Part:2. We'll go over everything I've added and removed to the car to the nearest 1/2lb.

    take a look at something called "seco seals" they are soft aluminum gaskets used on the AN fittings. They stop the damage to the fittings seal surfaces. Useful for situations where you need to remove and reinstall the fittings frequently. It saves the expensive fittings from damage due to the repeated use.

    Impressive engineering; really smart to loop the fuel line in case of a rollover.

      Thank You.
      I watched a few videos on fuel cells and it seems to be a standard safety procedure.

    I had a 2010 Honda fit sport with the automatic trans, and selling it is legitamently one of my biggest regrets in life. I miss that honda fit every time I drive my new car. I miss that honda fit any time I have to work on any other car. It was truly a near barebones driving experience made to be repaired and worked on. You just don't get that from any modern automobile.

      I love my 2015 Honda Fit, but it does sound like the 2nd generation "2009-2013" was the BEST generation.
      The main gripe with the 3rd generation Honda Fit is the CanBus electrical system.
      It's not terrible, but it can be fussy to work on or modify.
      I plan on keeping this car running for a long time because new cars are expensive to buy and expensive to maintain.
      Here's to the future of the automobile industry and I wish you the best with whatever car you're driving now.

      I'm glad you're ok. Adding Android Auto to the base model Honda Fit is probably my biggest request at the moment.
      I'd love to have the Smart Assist cruise control. That's something I didn't know I wanted until I started travelling a lot.
      Happy New Year & Safe Travels!

    Whats the foam in the tank for?

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +2

      "Fuel Cell foam is generally regarded as being used to prevent fuel slosh (similar to baffles). While it does serve this purpose, it's also used to stop a flame front from advancing, helping to eliminate the possibility of an explosion." RaceWorks.com

    Impressive indeed, did u have to alter the suspension for the additional weight? Thanks for sharing, very inspiring!

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +3

      Thank you! I did not alter the suspension. I think I'm going to make a Part 2 that goes over the weight and weight distribution. My previous setup involved a Roof Rack & Cargo basket. Loaded it totalled 216lbs. My new camping & fuel setup is about 60lbs lighter and lower to the ground. I've been keeping track of every pound added and removed to the car. I do plan on adding HRV springs to the rear.

    But you do feel the weight difference right?

    • @littlebitofhope1489
      @littlebitofhope1489 Год назад +4

      Gasoline weighs about 6.03 pounds per gallon. At 16 gallons that is 96.18 pounds. So the entire setup is easily 100 pounds full. That is one person so the weight itself should not be an issue. Putting the weight that far back is something I have no idea about how it effects the car.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +2

      Yes, but not like you think...
      A. I previously had a roof rack/cargo basket setup which weighed 216lbs. I removed the roof rack/cargo basket setup but also kept all of its features. Solar Panel, water Tank etc. I essentially went from 216lbs on the roof, to 140lbs (Full Gas & Water) in the back trunk area. The car now has a lower center of gravity which does make a difference.
      B. Like @littlebigofhope1489 said "The full tanks is roughly 100lbs full"
      Overall, it's not a lot of weight and I I'm not racing around corners with it. I also have my rear seats removed which weighed around 67lbs.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +2

      You are 100% correct.
      I also went from a heavy roof rack setup to a slightly lighter & lower center of gravity setup.
      With the seats removed, the water tank slightly forward and the tank up against the rear floor board, it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

    Were you able to find a Y or a T junction to put into the vent system? And did you run into any issues with the charcoal canister, typically they are only rated for so large of a fuel tank. :) Thinking of getting an aftermarket one to install next to my fuel cell.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  6 месяцев назад +1

      We added a Y to the OEM charcoal canister. I didn't have any issues, but I eventually ran it into its own aftermarket canister. I'd go aftermarket. It's easier to install and your not messing up or modifying any OEM components.

      Lol, coming from a man who drives a HUGO!

      It was also recommended to replace the liner every few years.

  • @FMB123
    @FMB123 Год назад +1

    How much would you charge to do this to my car?

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +3

      Total parts can range from $500 to well over a $1000 depending on what you buy.
      This whole setup was around $800. Approximately $400 for the pump and tank. $100 for the braided hose, $100 in fittings, $100 for the fuel gauge and $100 in misc parts and supplies.
      Then there's labor... I worked on this project on and off for about a month. So if I had to guess, its about a 16-20 hour job.

  • @TecraTube
    @TecraTube Год назад +2

    that's dope. that fuel pump is annoying though. and don't you sleep right there? got to be some fumes after filling that gas cell

    • @mattmopar440
      @mattmopar440 Год назад +2

      not if its tied into the evap system unless he spills fuel when filling

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +2

      Lol, yeah it yeah it can be annoying. Thankfully it's not on long and not used all the time.
      All the reviews mentioned the noise, I thought how bad could it be? I couldn't imagine if you needed to run that constantly.
      You are correct. "After Filling" Even if the pump doesn't dribble, it is an open hole letting out fumes. I've learned to fuel up the Aux tank a few days prior to a camping trip and it will be fine.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Год назад +3

      Even if I don't spill, it will still stink for a bit. It's most likely due to the fumes coming out of the 4" hole while filling.
      I just make sure to fill up a day before the trip and it will be fine.
